Buile Hill Mansion Reopens After Restoration

0:00On March 4th, a historic mansion in Solford is finally re-opening to the public after over 20 years of neglect. Bill Hill Mansion, a grade two-listed building from the 1820s, served as the city's mining museum until it closed in 2000. Restoration kicked off last year, and they will welcome visitors starting March 21st, with a new cafe and spaces for events. The ground floor cafe, called The Secret Garden, nods to a famous children's book with possible ties to the nearby park. It will operate seven days a week, from 1pm to 4pm, alongside a community room for local groups to hold meetings and activities. Local leaders are buzzing with excitement over reclaiming the slice of heritage. Counselor Barbara Bentham shared her thrill at bringing the site back for everyone to enjoy, highlighting its role in Solford's history as the home of the area's first Manchester Mayor. Workers uncovered original features like 19th-century floor tiles, and restored the grand staircase, ceilings, and walls and period appropriate.

1:04Colors. Two rooms will soon host weddings and functions for up to 80 guests each, complete with a new car park, and it will house the local register's office. Plans extend to the surrounding park, with nearly 350,000 pounds, for landscaping and new equipment, polishing this gym for years to come.
