The 29-year-old spent his whole career with the team after they picked him in the fourth round of the 2018 draft. Johnson appeared in 113 games with 87 starts. Last year in 2025, he made 57 tackles and broke up four passes across 13 games. He logged 74% of defensive snaps and 4% on special teams when he played. This clear space for Buffalo as they reshaped their defense. Johnson's deal ran through 2027. A straight release saves the bill's $1.9 million in cap space believes a $9.5 million dead cap hit. Officials might use a post-June first cut instead that would free up $8.67 million while pushing just a $2.74 million dead charge to 2026.
