Bucs' Bowles: 'Grinding' for Division Title

Buccaneers head coach Todd Bowles is keeping a real about his squad. He says they're not

losing teams. Bottom line, he feels they've got a solid football team ready to grind.

Now, after scraping an 8-9 record and losing the NFC South on a tiebreaker to Carolina,

no team in the division even hit 500 in the Bucks. Got to step up offensively. They ranked

16th in scoring last year, and with Mike Evans bolting to San Francisco on a 3-year 60-million

dollar deal after 12 years. As their top receiver, it's a big shift. Bowles knows the sting

of losing leaders like Evans and Linebacker Lavante David, who was there 14 years. That

duo guided the locker room on and off the field.

Mentalities got a change. New folks stepping up, but he's confident they can reclaim

the division. On offense, they swap coordinators again. Ditched first-year guy Josh Grizzard

brought in Zach Robinson with two years running Atlanta's attack. Bowles likes his experience

after facing the Falcons lately, says his game plans and fit with the receiver's screen

potential, even without Evans. Defensively, losing David heard deep and cornered Jamel

Dean's gone too, signing 3-year 36.75 million with Pittsburgh after.

Seven years. Bowles amidst they need one or two more corners, vet or draft pick, still

rebuilding smart could get these bucks back on top.
