Browns Withdraw Draft Pick Trade Proposal

On March 30, the Cleveland Browns have yanked their proposal to let teams trade draft picks

up to five years ahead.

Right now, the limit sits at three years, and this change aimed to open up long-term

wheeling and dealing.

Wordbroke via NFL Network's Tom Pelicero, after Rand's coach Sean McVeigh trashed the

idea on up in Adams.

McVeigh flat out said 0% chance it had passed at the league meetings in Phoenix this week.

McVeigh shouted respect to Brown's GM Andrew Berry for the bold reasoning, but no way he'd

vote yes.

As a competition committee member, he pointed to their 11-0 rejection, and he planned to

block it hard.

The rule needed 24 out of 32 votes to fly.

Only Browns and Steelers drop proposals this off-season, but Cleveland's withdrawal

kills the debate before it starts.

Draft trades stay capped at three years for now, locking in the status quo while owners

hash out other tweaks in Phoenix.
