Browns' Tillman Faces Competition in 2023

0:00On April 7th, NFL teams got a decide by May 1st on 5th year options for their 2023 first round picks right after the 20. 26 draft, but the Cleveland Browns? They ain't got that headache this year. Thanks to the trays that gutted their early picks and left their wire receivers spot thin. Back in 2023, Cleveland shipped their number 12 overall pick to Houston in the Dishon Watson deal and it ended up with Detroit. Grabbing running back, Jamir Gibbs, they also swapped their second rounder, number 42, to New York for Elijah Moore. So their first swing was at number 74, snagging Whiteout-Sedred Tillman. Tillman's spot feels shaky now, with no clear alpha in the receiver room. Jerry Judy balled out with a pro bull nod in 2024, but Rookie tied in Harold Fanon Jr. stole the show last season. Broster Math is brutal, only six Whiteouts made the 53 man squad last year, and spots are locked for Judy, Jordan Bond, and New Sinie Thailand.

Junior, they might even double up later with guys like Louisville's Chris Bell or local John Carroll product Tyron Montgomery. Plus, cutting or trading Tillman saves $3.7 million in cap space for 2026. Tillman's banking on a cam breakout to stick around or flip for value, but with Rookie's incoming and battles brewing against Jamari Thresh, Malachi, Corley and others, his year four, could get real competitive fast.
