Browns Start New Stadium Excavation

This unofficial start on Monday marks a huge step toward a 67,500-seat venue, complete with surrounding shops, restaurants, and offices. Officials plan a formal groundbreaking ceremony on April 30th, but the heavy digging is already underway to build what the team calls Huntington. Team owners, the Hazelams, say this project goes beyond football, with over $2 billion in private investment aimed at boosting North-East Ohio, through jobs, construction, and year-round events. Funding breaks down to about $2.4 billion for the stadium itself, split between $600 million from the state of Ohio, three, $100 million from Brooke Park, and $1.5 billion from the Hazelams, who will handle any overruns. A separate $1 billion development will be fully private. As the Browns downtown lease wraps up after the 2028 season, this move aligns with more than half the league shifting to domed.
