Browns Sign Safety Daniel Thomas for Depth

Thomas was a fifth round pick by the Jacksonville Jaguars back in 2020, where he spent the early part of his career. Last year, he joined the Detroit Lions, but sat out half the season due to injury. Over his career, Thomas is racked of 94 tackles, mostly as the back of safety, with heavy special teams duties. With the Lions, he posted 15 tackles on defense and 8 on special teams, showing versatility in limited snaps. Cleveland's special teams struggled with inconsistency last season, after relying on rotating players. Thomas stepped up on defense late last year, when given opportunities, which can make him a fit for the Browns rotation. This signing gives the Browns another experienced hand in the defensive backfield, potentially stabilizing their unit as training camp approaches.
