Browns Restructure Watson's Contract, Pushing Costs into Future

The team pushed more money into future years, leaving Watson with a $36 million cap hit in 2027 and 56 million in. 2028. Nearly $90 million over those two seasons alone. Fans and analysts see this as short-sighted, especially with the Browns facing four losing seasons in their last five. Three of those came during the Watson era, making it tough to keep talent or sign big free agents. The team heads into 2026 looking like a rebuild. They lack a solid quarterback, a strong offensive line, and reliable wide receivers. Kicking these costs down the road does not fix those deeper problems. Berry might be playing for his own job here.
