Broncos' Paton Eyes Day 2 Draft Surprises

0:00On April 17th, the Denver Broncos are rolling into the 2026 NFL draft without a first round pick. This is the third time General Manager George Payton has gone this route since taking over. They traded it away last month in the Jalen Waddle deal, leaving them with seven picks total for the event in Pittsburgh from April 23rd to 25th. It paid off big the last two drafts though. In 2022, they snagged outside linebacker Nick Bonito in the second round. Then in 2023, White receiver Marvin Mims came aboard the same way. Day 2 has been their sweet spot for finding gems. Potton sounds locked in during his pre-draft call with reporters. He says their process keeps getting sharper and he feels more ready than ever. No guarantees, but they've built a track record that breeds confidence. Now they've zeroed in on six specific players for that second round spot at number 62. Payton kept their names under wraps, but expect questions after the draft if they land one.
