Broncos Lock in Ehlinger with One-Year Extension

0:00On March 9th, the Denver Broncos are bringing back quarterback Sam Ellinger on a one-year extension worth $2 million. This move bolsters their depth at the position with the 27-year-old backup. Ellinger built his name as a four-year starter at the University of Texas, picking up second team all big 12 honors in 2020 and honorable. Mention the two years before. The Indianapolis Colts took him in the sixth round of the 2021 NFL draft on a four-year rookie deal. He wrapped that up last season, appearing in four games with 573 passing yards, three touchdowns and three picks, plus 87 rushing yards. This off-season, after testing for the agency, Ellinger signed with Denver and made the active roster back in September. Now this deal locks him in for another year. With injuries always a risk in the NFL, the Broncos stay prepared at quarterback, giving them solid options moving forward.
