British authorities arrested three men on Wednesday under the National Security Act on suspicion of spying for China. One suspect, David Taylor, is married to Labor MP Giovanni Reed. He was pictured with Princess Beatrice during a charity trip across Asia back in 2016. At nine-day journey involved the group of seven people organized by the Frank Spanley Foundation, where Beatrice served as patron. Taylor acted as a policy advisor for the group. Foundation head Simon Frank said, Beatrice did not know Taylor before or after the trip and praised his charitable work. MP Giovanni Reed said she never suspected her husband or breaking any law and is not under investigation herself. She represents East Kilbride and Strathaven, sits on the Home Affairs Committee, and is voluntarily stepped back from the Labor Party during its internal review. The other men arrested were Steve Jones, a 68-year-old ex-advisor to the Welsh government,

and Matthew Applin, 43, a former labor press officer. All three were released on bail the next day, Thursday. Police searched several addresses in London, East Kilbride, and Cardiff. Taylor heads programs at Asia House Think Tank and supported a parliamentary group on Central Asia, which suspended its ties with him.
