British Man Charged in Al-Shabaab Terror Case

0:00On April 9th, a 43-year-old British man named Jermaine Grant faces serious terrorists and charges for directing activities of the Al Shabab group. He's accused of joining their Commando training camps in Somalia and possessing AK-47 rifles for terror purposes. This stems from events between December 31st, 2007 and January 1st, 2010. Meanwhile, Grant has no fixed address and was nabbed after a major counter-terror pro by London police. He's hit with three counts for the camps in Kismayu and two for the weapons. Al Shabab remains a huge headache in Somalia, especially hitting Mogadishu with bold attacks that shake government control. The UK government calls them a non-stop danger in their latest assessment. They're tied tied to al-Qaeda and go after aid workers, reporters, business folks and anyone pushing back against them. Grant heads to Westminster magistrates court this Thursday, underscoring how these threats from Somalia still echo today.
