0:00On March 11, two British tourists in their 60s have drowned at Shell Harbor Beach on the new South Wales South Coast. The 66-year-old man and 64-year-old woman were swimming when they got into trouble, leading to a desperate rescue effort by people on. The beach. Shortly after 11 a.m., on Wednesday, emergency services rushed to the scene after reports of the swimmer struggling. Beachgoers managed to pull the pair onto the shore and started CPR right away, keeping it up until paramedics took over. The couple was visiting with relatives, turning what should have been a family outing into heartbreak. Officials set up privacy tents to block the view from other beach visitors, while more than a dozen responders stayed on site to handle the situation. A rescue helicopter was called, but ended up not being needed. Paramedics were tired, but sadly, neither person could be revived and they passed away right there. Authorities will prepare a report for the corner as they look into what happened, reminding us all to stay safe in the water this summer.
