British Convert Faces Al-Shabaab Charges

0:00On April 16th, a British Muslim Convert from London named Jermaine Grant, 43 years old, just faced court on charges of leading a platoon for the Islamist terror group Al-Shabaab in Somalia. Prosecutors say he went through their commando training camps in the port city of Kismayu, rose to platoon leader and fought in key battles between. Late 2007 and early 2010, he faces counts for directing the group's activities, attending three training sessions and possessing an AK-47 rifle during fights at Karan. And Mogadishu Stadium, appearing by video link from a high security prison, Grant only confirmed his details, no plea yet, as the judge ruled it too serious for a lower. Court, meanwhile, counter-terror cops in London built this case over years, getting the green light from top prosecutors to move forward. Al-Shabaab, banned in the UK since March 2010, has a bloody history with attacks like the Westgate Mall massacre in Kenya that killed. Dozens, and they still control chunks of southern Somalia.
