Britain First March Sparks Massive Police Response

0:00On April 18th, Britain first is holding a march and rally in Manchester today, drawing a massive police response that's bigger than Derby Day. Hundreds of officers are deployed after violence at their last event, with around 1,000 supporters expected to gather near Piccadilly station from noon. Earlier this year in February, their previous march through the gay village turned ugly, leading to 11 arrests during clashes with, counter protesters, greater Manchester police face criticism for losing control amid fights and scuffles caught on video. Meanwhile, a counter-demonstration by anti-racism groups under resist Britain first is set for Piccadilly gardens, so expect road closures and metro-linked delays hitting visitors hard. Tensions are high as both sides gear up. Police now have extra tools like a section 34 dispersal order for the city center and section 60 powers for stop and search plus removing. Police coverings to keep trouble-makers in check. The march kicks off at 1.15pm towards St. Peter Square for speeches around 2pm.
