How important was that series for the Braves to sweep the Dodgers last week? Now we own the season series and we know this could come down to the last week of the season. Yeah, no, I think it's big. I think more importantly, I think it's kind of kickstarted the Braves starting to play some good baseball again and having to play that

3:10kind of competition. Well, as I said last week, we'll kind of get your juices flowing a little bit and it seems like that's happened for the Braves. I think obviously because of how the playoffs are kind of constructed, you want to have the better record. You want to be able to skip a round if you can. And so having that series against one of the division leaders certainly goes a long way should the Braves go on and when they're division and have one of the better records. Isn't it funny though how teams have somebody's number, Carl said it earlier, the giants who are not doing anything with a college manager have the Braves number this year. But you think what we do against the Braves against the Dodgers carries on until this postseason with all the pitching when it gets all healthy for the Dodgers? Yeah, I mean listen, I think at the very least, you know, the Braves aren't a team that that that fears the Dodgers. I think they look at the Dodgers as as they're equal in a lot of ways. And so I think it's nice to have the series series series, but I think you

4:16ultimately know once you get to the postseason, anything can happen. And so knowing that you you had success against the team certainly goes a long way. But once you get the playoffs, you have to be able to do it again. And you know, it's one thing to do it during the regular season, but being able to execute it during the postseason is just another, another monster. And I certainly helps to have that confidence going in. All right. So we tried to at least I did try to get you to talk about, you know, this is a big series. It's August. You were like, yeah. Okay, September 1st, Tony, it's a big series against the Phillies. We got four games coming up. They're chasing us. What kind of, you know, urgency should the Braves have heading into these next two games of the Nationals before getting to the weekend series with the Phillies? I think you definitely don't want to you definitely want to take care of business against the Nationals. And the Braves have, I think they want something like a eight of the last 11 East East teams of space. So this is the team that they they generally take care of business. So they definitely want to do

5:16that. But make no mistake about it. We are in the September. This is one of the remaining matchups these two teams have against one another. And so four games set. So absolutely, it's a big series. It's it's different than the Dyers. This is in their division. I mean, and the Phillies have put themselves in a position now where, you know, they're close enough to where this series matters now. And so absolutely, they need to take care of business in this little short two game set. They got against the Nationals, but make no mistake about it. That series is going to be an important one in a big one. Phillies are pretty much dead in the water. And you think Matt is maddenly the reason or just guys got healthy or guys got into in a or a bit of both because they certainly run our heels now. Well, it's tough to say. You know, maybe maybe it was a quick trigger by the organization. Maybe it was it was it was it was Don's voice, you know, a change in change in voice. Sometimes that that does go a long way. None of us never really know. I think only those guys in that clubhouse

6:20could answer that. But there's no there's one thing that's not mistaken. They have certainly played better since the change has happened. So I guess we all make of it what we can, but they're in it shortly after, you know, I think they made the move to go to Don Maddenly. This team has played different. They've also got healthy guys have also played better. I think all of those things are are ingredients of why they're where they are. And I think the only other team to tip more you got to go back to the 2019 Dodgers. I believe it was or the Yankees. Excuse me, who hit like 73 or 74. They seem to be peeking at the right time. Give

7:25me your thoughts on the Cubs. They're definitely a monster. But again, I will say peeking at the right time. I don't know. You still got a whole month of baseball before we get to the postseason. That means they got to keep this up for that long period of time. It doesn't happen very often. Right? You may see teams pick it up from mid September and run it through the whole gambit there. It's a long time for a team to continue that hard streak. So I don't know that they're peeking at the right time, but they certainly are our team that you got to deal with. The brewers, them and the brewers kind of going back and forth. They're still a ways behind the brewers that ultimately. But right now, nobody wants to go into Chicago and have to play them in a set right now, especially the way PCA is swinging the bat. He seems like he wants everybody's attention on this MVP race. We're talking a lot about distractions and keeping the clubhouse

8:28right. We talked about it with Alex. And it's just today we found out from you that Hassan Kim is a likable guy. Guys who pull in form and maybe he'll get into some kind of swing of things. Reason I bring it up is Arizona for a minute there. Unless you feel they're fading 10 games now out in that division, but it's still maybe alive in the wild. The whole Marta thing just seems like such a soap opera. He gets food coming back from the fans for guys who don't follow. He was on a road trip. He basically just flaked that walk away from the team. And some folks are like, you know, do you just have to eat it? Because he's obviously a tremendous talent, but he seems like he's an incredible flake. Yeah, I mean, listen, it's one of those, it's one of those situations that from the outside looking in certainly doesn't look good optically, right? It seems like, you know, whatever his frustrations were, he approached it in a way that I think most people wouldn't approach it. And so he got to deal with the consequences of that. That means likely getting booed and fans feeling away. He ultimately has to also answer

9:35to a teammate. And it sounds like he was able to get in front of them. They will make of it whatever they make of it at this point. But certainly on the outside looking in, it's not a good look. And there will be consequences that he'll have to deal with. And, you know, how he handles it, you know, moving forward will demonstrate a lot. I'm sure. Have you ever advocated as you call a game for a guy to get hit? Because the Red Sox play by play announcer will flimming. Obviously, I thought he went above and beyond. And, you know, he apologized, but this chism thing, first of all, what are your thoughts on chism? Some of this stuff doesn't he bring upon himself? And then was the broadcaster completely out of line by say, we should hit him. Yes, we'll start there. Absolutely. Too far. There's a way to talk about those

10:35type of things without crossing the line. And as it seemed that will did in that situation, he apologized for it. And, you know, at this point, I saw some of the replies in the comments as opposed to some of the Yankees. I don't think they buy it. But nonetheless, in terms of jazz, that's kind of, you know, you heard Boone kind of explain, like if a team is going to hold you on, you know, you're going to show them the courtesy, basically, of not running. But it almost, like you can't have it both ways. You can't then also play off and expect me to stay where where they put. And so that's how they played it. And, you know, clearly, he's, will he need to felt, they felt need to apologize after also hearing, you know, with the thought process of it behind it is. And that's kind of the tough part. You know, a lot of times we are speaking on

11:37things that we may not have all the information on. And, you know, it wasn't just that it was a complaint about the, the stolen base. It also was a tag on his character. And, you know, that's kind of where it gets, it gets a little fuzzy. And, you know, I think ultimately a apology was necessary. Yeah, again, he's a bit of a luth. That's best way to put it. But, I mean, we always joke around Tony, the unwritten rules slowly dying in baseball. Those things are still carved in stone. I mean, it just depends. The one that gets dicey is the, the, the, the, the leads, you know, it used to be you get a certain lead, certain run lead, no more running, right? But the game has changed in a way where those endings that used to be considered like out of reach are no longer out of reach. And I think it's blurred the line in terms of what's acceptable was not. I think

12:37for the most part, everything is still kind of intact. You know what I'm saying? The, the scores thing when, when games get kind of big are, are deemed out of reach, I think that is the part that has kind of changed only because we've seen the type of comebacks, you know, in recent history that we just never saw before. Right. Right. Yeah, it's interesting. I, I'm glad we're in September, Tony. I know you are because this is, we're about to find out a lot more about these teams that are in the mix. Do you expect any surprises? And I say that based on the fact that we know who the, the leaders are atop the standings. But do you see a team speaking of getting hot and maybe catching fire and maybe sneaking up on on this situation, especially in the national league? I mean, anything is possible and then American league at this point. American league. Absolutely. I mean, it's crazy. Like what, what, did you tell us in the East, almost all those teams are, are vying for a playoff spot? They pretty much are. I mean, listen to

13:41Orioles were, they sold at the deadline. And they're right in the thick of it. I mean, I don't know if you guys saw the catch that my man made center field yesterday. Oh, how's your unbelievable. A walkoff, a walkoff, you know, game winning home run save. That team is smack dab right in the middle of it. So yes, there could be any surprises. At this point coming out of that, American league. I think the national league is pretty set. I mean, you got three teams vying for two spots. You got Philly's Diamondbacks project. And we're going to watch these three teams toggle between those two spots. I think the Cubs are kind of putting themselves. And again, there's a whole month of baseball left. So it, like in chain from beginning of September to the end, but they look like, at this point, they're going to take that first spot. It'll be those three teams vying for the last two. Oh, right.
