Boy, 9, Caught Steering Car on Highway

Police say he sat on the lap of a 45-year-old man who felt significant fatigue but still controlled the pedals. Offices followed up by visiting the man's home and lightning ridge on March 11th. They spoke with him there after initial inquiries. The incident raises big concerns about child safety and driver responsibility on long trips. No one was hurt, but it highlights risks of fatigue behind the wheel. The man now faces four charges, including reckless driving, negligent operation, lack of vehicle control, and improper seatbell used for the passenger. He's set to appear in Walgit Local Court on April 28th. Police also alerted the Department of Communities and Justice. This echoes a 2017 case where a 12-year-old drove over 1,300 kilometers across Australia before getting stopped.
