Bomb Plot Trial: Judgment Reserved for Dublin Men

0:00On April 2nd, judgements been reserved in the trial of two Dublin men accused of trying to murder an off-duty PSNI officer with an undercar booby trap, bomb back in Eglinton, County Dairy on June 18th, 2015. Sean Paul Farrell, 41, from Crumlin and Sierra McGuire, 38 from Fingless, both deny charges of attempted murder and possessing RDX, explosives to endanger life. The plot unravelled when the officer's wife spotted a guy tampering with their car and raised the alarm. Hours later, Guardide nabbed the pair in a stolen Volkswagen Passat near Killy Gordon in County, Donagall, along with the third suspect, Sean McVey. McVey, 45 from Lurgen, got 25 years in prison back in March 2019, after his conviction on the same charges. This separate trial for Farrell and McGuire wrapped up last September in a judge-only hearing. Prosecutors leaned on circumstantial evidence, like the stolen cars with fake plates spotted driving together near the scene, discarded gloves linking them in a joint effort, and they refusal to ID themselves during the stop.
