Birmingham Warming Stations Open for Cold Weather

0:00Here's more Birmingham news for March 16th. Cold weather is hitting Birmingham hard with temperatures dropping below freezing. The city and Jimmy Hale mission are opening warming stations tonight and tomorrow night to help keep people safe. These stations will run from 6 p.m. until morning when it warms up. Men, women, and children can head to Jimmy Hale mission for shelter and hot meals. Women and children have a separate spot of pathways where intake starts at 1 p.m. until they reach capacity. A freeze shutter will pick up folks from Lynn Park between 6 and 7 p.m. making it easier for those without rides. They'll also bring people back in the morning. Daytime options are available too, for anyone without heat or a place to stay. Today the church of the reconciler opens from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Firehouse Shelter offers spots all day for all genders. Tomorrow brings more help with the church open again from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. plus Firehouse Shelter pathways until 3 p.m. and Faith Chapel care.
