Last week, Mayor Randall Woodfin unveiled the idea to offer restrooms, secure storage, shade, and links to housing and health services. But after hearing from business owners in the switch district, the city has scrapped that site. The shift came from talks with property owners and local businesses. City officials stressed their goal is a safe space that connects unhoused folks to real help, like mental health care and addiction treatment. They want to pick a spot that works for everyone involved. Business owners push back, worried about the impact nearby.
