Bills Non-WR Needs & Potential Solutions

Talking Buffalo

About this episode

On this episode of Talking Buffalo, Patrick Moran is joined by Matt Warren from SB Nation to discuss positional needs and potential solutions beyond wide receiver.

Understandably so, the wide receiver position attracts the most attention among fans and the media. There's certainly a need to add to the position and Buffalo will, but there's plenty of room and need to add talent to several if not most other positions.

The guys go through them, talk about needs are bigger than other and discuss a handful of potential pending free agents, trade candidates and draft prospects for each. Some positions, like edge rusher and safety seem pretty clear but others, such as offensive tackle and running back could be a bit more of a mystery.

They also talk about what they're expecting to see from Buffalo in the coming weeks based on comments by Brandon Beane and Joe Brady. That plus the Sabres are going to make March even more fun and plenty more.

1:00attire today to get the compensation value deserve. We are cruising right along this week headed towards NFL free agency which starts well technically I guess in less than a week. This is not once a podcast which means it's always I'm joined by my very good friend espnation. Matt Warren things are they're about to start cooking it does it seem to you like free agency's already here like usually it feels like a longer law between the end of the bill season and when movement actually starts I don't know maybe it's just me and you disagree but I kind of feel like this has been a blink of an eye situation almost like I can't believe the bills are going to be adding players like maybe anyway like in five days right what's up man yeah February seems to have flown January felt like the longest month ever and then Jane or February like flew so I like I usually

2:02have a much better idea financially of what's going to happen but I am not anywhere near being ready for free agency to start. You know I'm glad you brought that up because it's like I know it could happen in one day but right now like the bills have they haven't really done much and I'm talking about creating the cap room stuff I mean they restructured Spencer Brown but they're having been player cuts by the time people listen to this of course on Wednesday that could happen we're recording I need to always always preface this we're recording late morning Tuesday so maybe the bills create some cap room or do something on Tuesday before people listen to this but as we record this they haven't really done in much of anything so we'll see what happens I want to spend the bulk of today just because wide receiver dominates so much and I understand why I'm sure you do as well but there's other holes on this team and I kind of want to go through positionally potential holes

3:04some bigger than others and maybe a handful of possible solutions I want to get your thoughts on you know I'll throw some names out there you tell me who maybe you like or don't like whether it's free agency maybe through the draft before that real quick though Tuesday morning right before we got together to record this put out a tweet and it's getting a lot of responses already I don't know if you've seen it yet but I want to make sure that I don't screw it up when I say it here on the air I talked about Kia Coleman and I said um where the hell is it man Jesus what are we doing here man I said if someone offered the bills a late a late fourth round pick right now today for Keon Coleman would you take it the response has been pretty polarizing pretty strong opinions on actually both sides of the fence I would say more people have leaned towards saying they would take the trade right now so before we get into non wide receiver stuff

4:07let me ask you if somebody calls Brandon Bean today and says yeah I got a bottom half of the fourth round pick I will give it to you for Keon what what are you doing if you're Brandon Bean I would be surprised if he said no but that being said Joe Brady and Brandon Bean both have said that they aren't willing to trade or they they think Keon Coleman is going to be on this team and have an impact on this team in 2026 I think a fourth rounder is high enough where they would probably pull that trigger just based on what I know from behind the scenes but I think the fourth rounder is like the real thing like I wouldn't do it for a sixth rounder I would definitely do it for a second rounder but like that fourth rounders like right in that sweet spot where I can understand why folks aren't willing to necessarily make that deal yeah I um I think if it were to happen and I know what they've been saying about Keon and I'm not even necessarily saying that I think they're lying I think that's part of the game you know

5:11yeah smoke-thruing season you want to create value in some cases you could say is damage control stemming all the way back to the theory theory of a goal oppressor um yeah I think fourth round I do it and you know for for people out there like fourth rounders and nothing or is nothing I would surmise that some of Brandon Bean's best drafting since becoming Bill's GM has actually been in the fourth wow he's drafted tear on Johnson in the fourth he's drafted Gabe Davis in the fourth drafted Ray Davis in the fourth then he traded up and he drafted DL Walker in the fourth last year those are literally all four of their picks during and the fourth round during the Brandon Bean era so yeah I would say anything later than that though Matt at that point I'm willing to see is this a different Keon Coleman in year three like does he I don't buy that it's going to happen but if you're only going to get a fifth rounder or later I'm like you know what I'd rather see what he's got in the summer is he has he grown up is he more mature is he more consistent

6:16in his work and is he got in a little better with Ralph running whatever you want to find out about him if you're getting less than a fourth rounder I'm at I'm like let's just go to camp and if it's not there and then you end up only getting a six or seventh rounder even a six for seven swap and then I do that kind of you're on the same page right it's it it's a polarizing topic because you use the high-second round pick item and you've seen you've seen what he can be a few times like that Baltimore game the Seattle game in his rookie year you've seen moments where he can be something more than just another guy on this team but you don't trust it right well right and it's not a telling issue it's it's a motivation it's an off the field issue so if you think that you have whether it's a coaching place or you know a support system in place then I think that there is a path forward for him on the roster and on the field on game days it's because it's not

7:22a telling issue like with Kier Elam it was like he just well first of all I do think it was a little bit of the off the field as far as like dealing with coaching thing with Kier Elam but like he clearly just wasn't going to make it onto the field for this team and so getting what they could for him was the right play with Keon I think that there is enough of that glimmer of hope where you do want to keep him around like you said I'm not just trading him for a bag of balls at this point right one last quick receiver thing because by the time we talk next maybe the bills have made him over ready I mean you could start tampering Monday next week we'll see but offer me a put you on a spot why not it's fun offer me a prediction right now maybe the next time we talk but if not it's going to happen soon after what do you see the bills doing at Y receiver here I think they're going to be just eat or trade I think they're going to make a trade yeah I I think that there's a couple players out there that make a lot of sense with the trade and

8:26we talked about this last week you know Brian Tom's junior if he's available I think would be a really nice addition for this bills team and sort of a by-low player right now DJ Moore cost a little bit more as far as trade compensation goes but both of those guys have the potential to play themselves into a number one receiver role and it worse be that like 1b guy so I like both of those players a lot in in this particular role as opposed to say pie in the sky like Jalen Waddle which I know a lot of bills fans would love to see but there's a lot of bills fans that want to see Jalen Waddle and Max Crosby and AJ Brown and like you know whatever so I just think the more realistic options are DJ Moore and Brian Tom's junior DJ Moore resonates with me it feels realistic it feels doable and it doesn't hurt that you know Joe B a guy that I have a great respect for over there athletic and it's my bills my golf season that's the move that he has the bill is making yeah have making a trade for for DJ Moore so we'll see how it plays out but anyway again I don't want

9:28today to really be about why receiver because we can spend a whole hour talking about why receiver I'm sure we've done that before and I'll probably do it at some point before this week's over too as well I want to talk about the rest of the team because again there's I don't know if holes is the right word but there's you know there's holes okay there's five how many holes is debatable but I feel like you can almost go position by position and say well least this guy might need to be replaced for whatever reason so let's let's go there today on the show let's have a quarterback Mr. Biske there's a chance that he's not back who I think the bills would like him back I'm certain the bills would like him back he probably would like to be back but it would be stupid for him to not take a look around the league and see you know what what's out there financially for him I was looking it up some feasible let's for the sake of the discussion are on the show let's just say he leaves feasible and I got to say feasible and restrict the free

10:32ages with all these positions Marcus Marriota Zach Wilson Tyrod Taylor old friend Kenny picket Casey Keenum train lads Kyle Allen Teddy bridge waters some to name a few free agent quarterback potential options out there does anybody intrigue who's if you're going to lose Mr. Biske who out there might intrigue yeah I mean Kyle Allen and case Keenum both make a lot of sense on your short list that you just threw out there Shane Buchelle is already on the roster for the 2026 season he could make sense as their primary backup quarterback as well I know that he was on the practice squad last year but he played well in the preseason I think if Joe Brady likes what he's seen from from that guy in the in the meeting rooms over the years then I think that that would be an interesting decision as well to just go with the little bit more inexperienced Buchelle um sure what about a guy like I should have mentioned him if Kyle Allen ends up being the guy

11:39let's just say is that going to be one of those Josh I think Josh is starting to get a reputation for really liking his friends and having his friends around or people that he likes whether it's coaches or teammates that reputation might get a little further cemented if they were to lose Mitch and just bring back Kyle Allen I'll be like at that point why not just bring back partly too and you know let's have a party here I mean that's the reason I said Kyle Allen in case Keenum so I mean I did yeah I did expressly mention that but that's why those two went right to the top of my list um listen I know I've I've dropped this Thomas Moore quote before like the the former offensive coordinator for the cults like he was asked what happens when Peyton Manning goes down and he's like well if Peyton Manning goes down we're fucked and we don't practice fucked and so if Josh Allen goes down like I wouldn't miss like Mitch Shobisky could probably get us through like I mean we've seen Sam Darnal win a Super Bowl or whatever um

12:39I'm not really worried too much about who the backup quarterback is just because I think that you know whoever it is is not going to it's a it's a much different team when it's not the best word there I've said this I think we've bickered about this before actually I agree with you for the most part like if I won't even I refused even say the words and let him come out of my mouth but if the starting quarterback for the bills is gone for a lengthy amount of time that's a wrap that's a wrap but if you're going to miss three games if you're going to miss three games Mitch Shobisky could go two and one against average competition you know what I mean so there's an average between a Mitch Shobisky and a bottom of the barrel like I think Zach Wilson stinks I would be pissed off if the bills signed him if he had to start three four games for the bills I'd be like to be lucky to win a game but a guy like you know like Mitch Shobisky can can carry you for a short term so I do think it's more important that people give credit for but again if Josh

13:43done for a lengthy amount of time and then it's then it's over yeah I like Mitch a lot and I'd like that what he brings as far as talent and his presence in the room what I've seen from him at say training camp you know whether it's talking to people on the field talking to people off the field what he's just what he brings to the table I like him a lot I just also know that like if you want to make five million dollars or six million dollars he's gonna have probably have to go do it somewhere else Arizona Miami something like that that's looking to make money a week 18 did he make money a week 18 against the helplessapolis New York Jets did he make a little bit of bank I mean it's not like the Rob Johnson situation where someone's trading a you know first rounder to make him one of the highest paid quarterbacks in the NFL but like he may have earned you know the you know the the seat warmer job somewhere with that week 18 performance do you feel like this could be a good year to draft a quarterback like maybe as high as the fourth round as late as the seventh round two throwing the mix to bills obviously have not been drafting quarterbacks

14:46since Josh L and I don't know they don't got a ton of picks and they gotta gotta use draft picks on players that might be able to be useful now they have so many holes on their defenses we're gonna get to that I think that that would kind of be a luxury for them sure I definitely wouldn't go as high as fourth round I might go five six somewhere in there you know we don't like we don't know how Joe Brady has prioritized that position but we know how Brandon Bean has and the highest they've they've only picked one quarterbacks since Josh Allen and it was Jake from in the fifth round and so you know I just I think that might be a place where they go but I wouldn't count on it with the with the depth that they need at the linebacker and defensive line and edge yeah you know it's funny and in my original notes I had drew a lot from Penn State as a potential maybe early day three kind of guy who could become a QB2

15:47everything I'm hearing over the last week or so this guy can end up being an early day two you know going way higher than people expect type of of quarterbacks so I guess we could rule that out yeah I'm with you man maybe next year will be the year where you get a quarterback this year feels a little like too much of a luxury got a new defensive coordinator you're gonna need bodies we know that the bill's free agent ex uh list is extensive and they're not going to reassign a lot of those guys you gotta have some depth it's not just about key starters with this roster that they're gonna have to fix this off season running back um ah this is interesting if they don't so tie Johnson could be a candidate to get cut because they could save 2.4 million I wouldn't do it just so we're clear I want to be clear but if they don't caught him this isn't in conversation because you you got your top three you got your top four if you want to include Frank or junior even if you do caught him you could simply make Ray Davis your new running back too I mean that's what he was in the playoffs because tie Johnson couldn't go and Frank or is your

16:49your third running back on the roster you go that way if you want to look at potential running backs out there if you don't think Ray Davis does it for you as a as a you know a backup Jerome Ford Kenneth Gainwell Ryan Moster Miles Sanders Alexander Madison uh Ryan Robinson junior Khalil Herbert etc there's no shortage of names that people have probably at least heard of in the running back market Matt yeah and you didn't even say a guy like Nick Chubb who obviously people know his name I know if he's like gonna live up to that anytime soon after that horrible knee injury he suffered a couple years ago but I mean there's there's names out there I don't think that the the return on investment is worth releasing Tyler or tie Johnson he's yeah like you said you saved 2.4 million but then you're signing somebody to replace him probably at 1 million so you're really only saving a million dollars on your cap getting rid of a guy that you really trust and and Joe Brady Josh Allen really trust that guy so I don't think that it's

17:53there unless they really believe that Frank or juniors ready to take that next step and you know that they're just gonna replace him with a younger version that's a little bit cheaper so I'm honestly haven't looked at any of the for agent running backs and I don't anticipate doing so I that's a good point about Frank or I never really thought of it that way if they're really excited about his development that could be a scenario where they say you know what we can move on from tie Johnson and Davis and Gore get both handle that role depending on what they're going to do to be clear though I wouldn't do it I think tie Johnson is a valuable player on this team though I know offensively they were finding the playoffs without him but I'd still rather have him than not have him and I think every running back I mentioned I would just rather have tie Johnson but it's a really good point that you said about Frank or junior awkwardly here tight ends I really think this is a position that they don't really do anything whether they keep Dawson Nox or not which of course that's uh that's um quite the conundrum what they do with Dawson Nox too

19:00I think the one thing you and I both know is that he's not gonna play at his current number this year he's not gonna make 12 million and um you know I've gone through this week and looked at the tight end position and you know there's Nox is set to make 12 million they have David Nijoku projected to make 10 million dollars and Travis Kelsey at like 10.8 on spot track there's just no way they don't go to him and be like hey we think you're at best a nine million dollar tight end in this league let's drop three million that's what he's played at the last two years by the way is nine million and then I think it was nine point seven million last year so you know we'll drop you to nine million you can earn it back through incentives yada yada yada and they can cut his cap it by three million dollars very easily um and keep him in the fold um where he wants to be so I mean he wants to be here they want him here I just it makes too much sense for them to give him like a three million dollar pay cut and I'm sure Joe Biscale also said something like that in his mock off season that he did yeah hi I want to say he won me over this year I

20:06even halfway through this season when you and I were doing our weekly grades and you know you would assign that grade and and tight ends were always up there and Dawson Knox had a nice role 20 million dollars and it oh it's a ton and they could say nine point four million by cutting them this might come down to the only way they cut Dawson Knox and I could see a scenario where they do cut them everyone's just assuming hey give him a pay cut first of all everyone's assuming that Dawson Knox will accept a pay cut I don't think it's fair and on the open market so for that's why I gave you those two comps like David and yeah yeah yeah and like I don't think Dawson Knox is a nine million dollar tight end in the NFL so I think that's why that's the sweet spot for the bills but continue it could be it could be a pride thing to understand maybe goes to maybe goes to Tennessee Brian Gabel maybe gets eight million but he could be the guy in Tennessee you know where his in Buffalo he's not I expect him I would expect him to accept a a reasonable pay cut so we're clear I'm just saying that's not a guarantee that's all um the team like so

21:13concave this is why all what I was getting at nine point four million if you caught him right now and you say you know what we need that money they got other holes they got other needs that money could be a top-end edger washer that you could get a reasonable cap hit in year one or a lying backer do you know what I mean and if you want a wide receiver they might not be able to do everything he might be a legitimate true cap victim um I don't that's really think that's going to happen I'm not predicting it I'm just saying it's possible but here's my thing unlike so many's other positions even if Dawson Knox does leave he doesn't leave it set if he leaves you still got concave you still got Jackson Hawes who you draft you developing he was very promising his rookie hearing you got a lot too we talked about him I believe just last week how they kept him on that roster through the playoffs because they did not want to lose him I don't think they do anything significant anyway a tight end rather Dawson Knox is back or not you agree with that like they're

22:14I don't really see outside help come in significant outside outcome and when it comes to tight end that's probably right unless as we talked about when we talked about Latu a little bit earlier this offseason unless they want to go to a tour or three tight end offense under you know Joe Brady head coach we we just haven't seen what his offense looks like and he gets you know control of everything we saw the Rams do it this year with some success and so if they did want to roll you know three tight ends on a regular basis they would probably need to add somebody that wasn't an undrafted for agent but I think if the offense just kind of rolls over from what it was last year at least as far as like the packages go with the tight end position I think they wouldn't have to add anybody until you know undrafted for agency all right says we're skipping wide receivers for today the last part of the office for we take a break we'll talk about the offensive line this to me maybe as much as any position on this team feels mysterious in part

23:15because if there's two free agents on this team of their own that matter it's kind of recovering in his David Edwards I think and they just formality they're going to lose Edwards I think we both agree with that I think what governs a little more up in the year I could see that going either way um they're going to lose one they're going to any depth on this offensive line like let's just say they lose both this team is death right now you could plug Gallic Anderson in I think they will plug Gallic Anderson in the start for David Edwards and then potentially set fan prang ranger if those guys start even if they were to work out you've not your depth is taking a big hit you that luxury that you have with really good depth is gone so they got to add I don't need the name specific guys but they need to add depth pieces in the interior of the line center guard and just the offensive line as a whole if if uh fan prang ranger and Anderson will start gravell and vandal mark not suddenly and chase

24:19lint I guess one extent that's your death right now that's that's not great so there's that and then I wanted to ask you a follow-up question too can you see can this be the year we said quarterback in this be here to draft a quarterback can this be a year where you can see the bills drafting an offensive tackle early like as a potential Dion Dawkins 2027 replacement possibly as early as say the third round the fourth might feel a little more friendly to the bills but even a later day to pick can you see a scenario where the bills go off its line specifically tackle with thinking just like maybe what haus you know eventually supplanting knocks potentially that kind of mindset that this might be Dion Dawkins is with his salary and everything maybe this is last year on his team we need to to draft and start development tackle now what do you think? Well I mean you asked questions um I think the free agency route is like you're going to go with

25:20the david edwards piece like when he first signed with the bills one year one point eight million dollars then he signed a two year six million dollar extension they just got Alec Anderson for like three million a year that's the kind of range I would expect for you know a free agent signing someone who you know maybe it's been a spot starter or a sixth offensive line in somewhere that's looking for an opportunity to be a starter like the bills can offer that and and so that would be my expectation it's probably someone you and I have never heard of from some team yeah that's why I was out there I'd be trying to play smarter than I am if I were to do that um and so like that's what I expect as far as free agency goes because like you said it's going to be uh an Alec Anderson type of player he's he's got some experience but not a ton uh it's like you know full open competition for the draft question that you asked I think third is probably too high every time Brandon Bean has drafted a player in the second or third round they've been in the starting lineup by the end of September of the rookie season and that was Spencer Brown

26:22um who took over at right tackle uh at the end of September of 2021 so the fourth round is an interesting kind of medium place for me because they've they haven't drafted anyone in the fourth round let's say that and then they also only have drafted one in the third round and that was Spencer Brown everything else has been like the fifth round guy the sixth round guy they hope they they can develop and so if they wait until say the fifth or sixth round then you're talking about a developmental player like a chase-lunt like um you know some of those other guys that they've had over the years um why can't I think of that guy's name it got hurt or whatever okay sorry um I'm not saying I'm like hold on I did have a written down at some point but um you know so they they've they've drafted those guys to to develop them and then they haven't necessarily used it and of course so we don't know what a chase-lunt or even a sedric uh vampire and granger or anything like that we don't know what they're bringing to the table right now we just know their draft

27:25profile and sort of what they you know can do in the preseason right so I think that it's probably likely that they draft someone in that fifth sixth seventh round range but they probably should be doing that every single year too so and they are for the most part so I I'm more of like not spending a first second or third round pick on a backup guy um they're not going to replace the endockens by the end of September so I just don't see his high third round pick fourth rounds kind of in the middle if they really find somebody that they like they do have depth issues at offensive line right now um obviously we'll see what happens for agency it would shock me if they didn't sign at least to offensive lineman and for agency good point all right we'll take a quick break come right back with the defense side of the ball and more with bat one back with bat war and esp nation and you don't take a look at buffalo mumblings right now it's a bruise my bruise no one's got a got an article up there today bills roster needs align

28:30with 2026 NFL combined top performers definitely gonna have to check that out anytime Bruce puts up something a meager to uh to take a look at it and by the way we were talking about Keon Coleman earlier um browser through the Twitter uh at machine real quick here that brown it's talking about damage control being done with the bills and Keon Coleman you know saying the right things he said he'd be surprised if they got better than a six round pick for Keon Coleman which is why he thinks like we talked about their best path is just it remains trying to make a work for Keon and Buffalo for for this year if you're only gonna get a six rounder let's just see if you can make it work at that point I do want to ask you something I forgot about this I asked Joe Yurden he's a hockey guy but he likes football too I asked him this yesterday I'm gonna ask my buddy PK who's gonna be on the show tomorrow a scenario hypothetical real quick before we get to the defense well it kind of is about defense let's just say financially the bills could do one swing make one big swing they're gonna make one big move okay and you got to stick to the rules you have to stick to the

29:34rules Matt if you can trade for Max Crosby it's gonna cost you a first and it's gonna cost you more but we'll say the first round pick this year whatever the future is it is who cares for the purpose of this conversation you can get Max Crosby in a trade with the Raiders for a first in whatever else okay um well throwing Keon we won't throw in Keon just save a first and more but the only move you're allowed to make a wide receiver is reciting Brandon Cooks and you could draft the guy you don't have a first wrong pick so you could draft a wide receiver on day two well there's a second or the third round so you're reciting Brandon Cooks and you could draft a second or third round robin receiver that's it no shehi no Evans no trade for DJ Moore no trade for Brian Thomas Jr none of it but you get Max Crosby would you do that would you rather have Max Crosby with resigning cooks in a rookie or would you rather not have Crosby and say yeah I could take a swing on DJ Moore I could take a swing on Brian Thomas Jr

30:35or whoever insert receiver there what would you do if it was up to you but you gotta you can only have one you can't have both and it can't be anyone else other than Brandon Cooks coming back yeah in that scenario I I'd like the Max Crosby trade um I think the bills can manufacture offense they've shown that they can manufacture offense um they'll each of the last you know two or three seasons without Stefan Diggs without a number one wide receiver I like what I was able to see from Brandon Cooks obviously there was it's not perfect um but like you're giving me a scenario that's not perfect so that there's sure some discourse on it and I think the past rusher is the number one need on this team not wide receiver so in your scenario you're addressing the biggest need on this team so I'm doing that I'm gonna say what I said yesterday because I just think it's a stat that flies way too much under radar we know about the turnovers again in Denver and that's why ultimately they lost the game five turnovers and they turn them all over

31:35two three times they win my two scores literally they're probably winning the game my two scores even went two or three turnovers in that game but the stat that just rattles me still today is bone next to 46 passes and then get sacked once that can't happen you got to get a guy who can get the quarterback down in crunch time and we see you after you're after you're in the elimination losses the bill's defense crumbles and you're right they find a way to get by they don't always look great on offense but they do enough to be in a position to win and if just one year against the chiefs or the bangles or in this case against Denver if the defense just locks down when it's crunch time the bills apply in a super bowl yep and you also haven't heard me lead the wide receiver train really in any year since they've they acquired Stefan digs like I've been fine with what the offense has been producing the last several years it doesn't look necessarily perfect every time Khalil Shakir's depth of targets horrible but they can put points on the board with Josh Allen and a motley crew of wide receivers we've seen the the Packers do it and get to the super

32:40bowl um the chiefs did it after they traded Tyree kill like it is you can do that if you have a solid defense and the bills haven't had the solid defense to do that. Have you ever seen a an offense that is fourth best in the league and has the best rushing tech in the NFL get is widely scrutinized by the fan bases bills mafia with this year's offense yeah two years ago kendorecy had the number two offense in the league and got fired so I mean I I remember I was very very alone when I was like I don't know if they should be candid kendorecy right now but like that's just I it was because of the numbers right like the bills were able to manufacture offense yes it looked harder than it needed to but they are able to do that they haven't been able to manufacture pass rush and so like you said like it we can get by with one thing we can't get by with another thing so let's address the other thing.

33:44You would think that this was a five and 12 team sometimes when you do when people talk about the bills I I noticed that sometimes especially maybe it's my Joe from Queen syndrome like every time I have him on the show I'm like I think this team does this team suck are we covered a shitty team right now because it feels like we're always speaking negatively towards them pass objectivity sometimes yeah and we need to be questioning the see like people to give me crap like when I questioned Sean McDermott after the bills won a game like just because they won doesn't mean that the decisions that he made was right and or this decision that he made was right and so like you sure you can always find things to nitpick when you're trying to be a super bowl winning team that hasn't won a super bowl and so there you do have to talk about the deficiencies but I know I've said this multiple times one of the nice things about grading every single position is that we are able to talk about good things that happen even in like losses or bad games like you can say that you know Josh Allen is the best quarterback in the league and it's such a joy to watch him even though

34:45you know they lost to the Falcons because he was under you know distressed or they are lost to the Texans because because of that and so like you can find good even even bad games and so that's why I like the setup that we have where it's not just like coming in and bitching about everything that happened the night before or no offense to Joe like I mean when they lose a game that's obviously what people want to talk about is why they lost not the good things that happened in the loss. I'm half bullshit and when it's with Joe while I'm not bullshit about Joe from Queens being you know, onery and a curmudgeon and stuff like that but it's all it's a lot of bills fans that you would again you would think this offense stinks two years ago they had the best offense in the history of the franchise ever and then this past year again I think they were fortunate scoring the best rushing attack in the NFL and they scored enough playoffs or points in the playoffs that you should have won. It could always be improved and I want them to do better at why receiver but I'm kind of with you man. I don't need Justin Jefferson. Give me Miles Garrett.

35:45You know what I mean under that same scenario because to me that's also really why they keep losing in the playoffs. Anyway, all right, let's get to the United States side of the ball defensive line. At Oliver, DM Walker, TJ Sanders, they're back. They'll be back this year for sure. Well, I shouldn't say for sure. Some people want to think that Oliver might get traded. I don't buy it. Maybe a fedeering math is they did, uh, they're bringing him back. Probably need at least two guys in that is it can be a little tough to describe the defensive line now with a three four because it's a little bit different. So I'm kind of sticking to those guys. But I think they probably need two guys there. Um, what? I mean, Michael, you are, I thought you already. Yeah, Michael Hoey. I got it as an edge roster. Right. Michael Hoey on the Edward or Eric Wood podcasts said compared, um, at Oliver to, uh, Aaron Donald and said that like he can definitely play that role in this defense. And it's like, I mean, I don't know if you can have higher praise

36:46for a player than a guy like Michael Hoey saying that Oliver's like Aaron Donald. So I just don't see that particular trade happening. Yeah, that's wild. That's wild. But, uh, if they feasible, unrestricted free agents, John Franklin Myers, even though that's borderline feasible, because I think he's going to cost some, some bucks. Um, a great fit. Obviously we've been coming over from Denver. Sebastian Joseph Day, Clayis Campbell, Roy Lopez, uh, to name a few. I've, I've listened to Joe Marino and Anthony Borhaska. They're both pretty high on Roy Lopez is a nice depth piece. I'm going to beg for Campbell, Clayis Campbell, just because I think I've tied him into the bills for the last like eight years. He's going to be 40 years old. Like one of these years is going to actually come true draft. I could see them drafting a guy very early to play this position. There's, uh, you know, this isn't a draft episode, but Kaden McDonald is a big defensive tackle from Ohio State. You can be a late round first, wrong pick. If it's the right guy,

37:47we don't need the name specific college prospects. But if it's the right guy, I could see a true one tech nose tackle being that first pick. They're definitely going to address that position. It's a point during a draft. But yeah, I mean, Oliver Walker Sanders. Um, uh, what, what do you think about this position? All right. So for nose tackle, I'm not usually a first round guy. Um, it's, it's kind of like that running back situation. I just, I wouldn't draft a nose tackle on the first round. They don't play enough snaps. Um, yes, they can be enough of a force. But like, let's just look at the Broncos defensive tackle from last year just because that's where Jim Leonard came from. DJ Jones played 40% of the snaps for the Broncos defense last year. He made $13 million. They paid him very well. Um, his stats were very, very solid, but he only played 40% of the snaps. And so to me, it's, it's more of a value ROI, you know, type of proposition here. And so I wouldn't draft a first round nose tackle. That's just, that's a personal thing probably. I know that there's

38:49other people that want like the big space eater that's going to do that. But he's only doing it on 40% of the plays, guys. So anyway, um, DJ readers, the one I'm circling right now, because I think he's going to be cheap enough where the bills could definitely use him $4 million. I think is about what spot track had him pegged at. Um, if he doesn't go back to Cincinnati, which is where he was before he was with the Lions, I just think he makes sense is kind of like that one or two year bridge player to bring in on a low cost to get them through this defensive transition. Sure. I like that point a lot. Learn to add. That'd be a good pick too. Edge. Now again, it's edge slash maybe outside linebacker. And that's where you're going to kind of see Greg Resole and, and um, and Michael Hoyt lined up. By the way, you mentioned, uh, Michael being on Eric Woods podcast recently, it is worth noting if you didn't hear it, that Michael Hoyt told Eric Wood that he his goals to be good by July 1st, right training him. Yeah. And he's right. He expects

39:54his anticipation is that he's going to be ready to go a training camp. And I'll tell you, that would be a big positive for the bills. If he's ready at training camp, I'd be surprised and I'd be obviously very pleased. But anyway, you got Groot, you got Hoyt coming off injury, you got land and jazz coming off injury and also relatively disappointing rookie season even up into that point. Then he's a guy's that they're going to need a horse here. This could be the position where we spent all the time talking wide receiver, but the the bigger ad could come here, uh, Simon Raddick, Joseph Asai, Dante Fowler, Jr. Kyle Van Noy, Jevadian Clowny, Derek Barnett, Clay Von Chesaugh, and there's Trey candidates. They could drive somebody in a first rod. I do want to throw one name out there only because Lancel's Ausky Dubuffel news has been really high on this guy. I want to, so if it happens, I got to make sure I give him some some credit. Uh, Kesha's Howl, Kesha's Howl from Texas A&M.

40:57They're going to, they got to have an ad rusher, dude. Groot's not great at getting that to quarterback to begin with. They really, this defense lacks that guy to get at. We hope both of them would be that guy and he wasn't. Um, they got to do something here. I predict that this is going to be their big move. Like if they make a trade, I think edge could be it before wide receiver. I know people don't want to hear that shit, but what do you think? This is, this is a position where I think everything's on the table for this day. I mean, at the point earlier this offseason over at Buffalo Rumblings, that I think that I would prioritize two past rushers over one wide receiver. And so it might like number one need for the bills was past rusher. My number two need for the bills was past rusher. My number three need for the bills was wide receiver. So that's just kind of how I'm rolling into this offseason. I'm probably alone. That's okay. That's fine. Um, but like even if you know, you have Groot and Hoyt, like you still need rotational pieces because Hoyt's not going to play exclusively at past rusher. And I haven't

42:01seen enough from landed Jackson to even know if he's going to be an outside linebacker in this, in this defense moving forward or if he's going to play, you know, the defensive end position. So or play anywhere. Right. So I'm more of the position that the bills need to add several past rushers. There's some really cool um, free agency options out there. Um, I don't know if you've heard of this guy Joey Bosa. He's scheduled to make like $14 million this year on spot track. I know you probably hate that idea. Sorry. I just want to say that. Um, yeah, but yeah, he's projected to make about what he made last year a little bit more on the open market this offseason. But there's like, you know, you mentioned Hassan Reddick. You mentioned Joseph O'Suy. Both of those guys fit what I would think as, you know, um, potential depth options. I think Reddick is only projected to make like $5 million this season or something from spot track. Um, O'Suy has had five sacks the last two seasons would be another nice addition. Um, Boeh Maffy from the um, Seahawks

43:07is only 27. Um, it's a by-low season for him. He's a former second round pick. So he's got the talent, but he didn't get a chance to start this year. And so in 2023, he had nine sacks last year. He had six sacks starting for 11 games. And then he was just kind of a fill in role player this year for the Seahawks who had a really, really solid defense. And so I think it would be that by-low kind of player for him, um, only projected, um, at $12 million annually, uh, from spot track. He's not going to resign in Seattle when he doesn't have a clear path to start. So he's a guy I'm kind of looking at being like, I mean, if they really wanted to, to try to make an impact with one of those mid-tier, free Asian signings, he's got the talent as a former second round pick. He's got the experience, like I think he fits if they want to do more than a load tier trade or a load tier signing if they wanted to do one of the mid-tier ones. Yeah, I really think everything is on the table, whether it's a by-low guy, whether it's a stop plug, you know, a stopgap guy like, like a cloudy

44:11or, or a reddick or, or somebody like that, or whether it's a big swing. Like I said, maybe there's a defensive end. Timino out there for the Giants, you know, there's a lot of trade rumors with him. He's got one year left on his deal. I could, they're going to, they, they have to get, they have to get better at getting after the quarterback. And again, first round of the draft, that's certainly 100% going to be on the table, uh, just for the bills off-ball linebacker. I too, I heard Joe Marino said, you know, he looked at like Denver and the Rams, two teams who play the style defense in, they keep four off-ball linebackers on the roster. And you got Beniole, you got Dory Williams, you got Joe injuries and Joe injuries is not a roster lock, but, you know, you got three guys. You're definitely going to need at least one. Um, I don't think Shaq Topps is going to be back. I don't, I really don't think Matt Milano is going to be back. Leo Chanel is a very much talked about free agent candidate, uh, plays for the cheese right now for the bills. Uh, Kate and Alice, Alex Singleton from Denver, older guy, but a tackling machine. I like him. I, I've

45:16mentioned him before, a clay walker from Green Bay. Oh, he might get a nice contract. Alex, and a zone, uh, Devon Lloyd. I love Devon Lloyd, but I just, man, I don't think the bills are going to spend huge for an off-ball linebacker, but boy, boy, he would be, he'd be nice. I saw Jordan read from ESPN at his mock draft on Tuesday. And he had the bills taken a, an off-ball linebacker in the first round, CJ Allen from Georgia. Don't like that. I don't, I don't like him. I don't like an off-ball linebacker being a first wrong pick. But, uh, I was going to like, am I being hypocritical because I just said Devon Lloyd would be nice. But boy, that's a luxury. They really, they can't afford, but he's an impact player. We don't know if any rookie will come in and make an impact. What do you, what do you see with this position in Benard? I, I, I think people are out on Benard. And I think that's premature. I mean, you talk about a luxury. Like, yeah, it would be great to have a first round off-ball linebacker because the rest of your team was so good. Like, I mean, like, yeah, sure, whatever. Like, no, I don't anticipate that happening.

46:20I'm looking at the Broncos who have Alex Singleton and Justin Strinod. I don't know how do you say his last name. I'm sorry. But like, both of you are guys. Okay. Both of those guys can't be starters next year for Denver. And so it would make a, they're not going to be able to resign both of them because they have D Dre Green law in the fold already. So I would imagine one of them is going to hit the free agent market and follow Justin Leonard. Like, we've talked about former Panthers for God knows how long. Like, it's just like the same kind of concept. Like, you bring in that Broncos player that, you know, started as an injury replacement or started 16 games last year, which is what Singleton did. And you bring them over to the bills to be like you're the centerpiece of your defensive transition. And to help the rest of the linebacker room, you know, understand the defense and all this other stuff. And so I, I think that's a huge possibility. You mentioned Singleton. The Broncos have said that they wanted that it's a priority to bring him back. And so if it is, they can't resign Strinod and then bring him over.

47:23I hope Singleton is the market. That's the guy. I think he's a good, not long-term guy, obviously at his age, but I think he's a great fit for what the bills need. He's a really good tackler. If you remember back people, uh, the Denver game where we bitch at James Cook for fumbling, he got popped on that place. So I'm not happy he fumbled. I wish he didn't, he shouldn't have. But anyway, he was Singleton who laid that lick on him. He's, uh, he's a good tackler. I, I think he'd be a great fit. Kind of like Shaft Thompson was this year. Like, I think Shaft Thompson exceeded expectations this year. You know, staying healthy was a little bit of an issue for him. I wouldn't completely rule out Shaft Thompson being back, by the way. But I kind of feel like he's going to get paid somewhere else. And I'm fine with that. I'd rather have Alex Singleton. Anyway, or obviously Leo, uh, Chanel corners. This is a little bit interesting because I think the starters are set. I think they're going to rely on McSerson to be their starter. Um, but there's no depth. We've talked about, especially of Trey leaves. And I do think he's going to leave.

48:26We've talked about that before. Um, I think he's going to get a better contract and a really good opportunity to start somewhere else. Whereas if he resigns, he'll Buffalo, he's going into camp kind of the underdog in a, in a, in a battle for a starting job. They need one or two guys. They don't have any depth. Literally, they don't have any depth. This is a situation where it really sucks. And I pray for the best, first of all, I pray for the best, just as a human being at Dorian Strong is okay. And that he could, you know, have a, a full, healthy life. I'd be great if he could still play football. It sucks if he can't because this is the kind of guide. It would be perfect for this role, dude. A depth guy who could play special teams, a physical corner. And you could throw him. He could become a starter if you need him to be. They had that guy in Dorian Strong, but they might not, he might never play again. Um, they got to go to the market. They got to get somebody. A kid or a co-host as a guy, he's coming off an ACL injury though, but he's intriguing. Roger McCreary, a Latte Taylor, a Dorian Jackson,

49:31can't jail a brick. Former draft Island, we've talked about him plenty on this show. Draft a guy. I mean, we early day three, a developmental guy. This is important corner because you can't count on Benford and you can't count on McSerson to play 17 games. You got to have something behind them at corner. You agree? This is kind of a low key position in need for the bills right now, even if it's not a starter. Oh, yeah, it's absolutely a need for them. And I can't remember how high I put it on my, my list of, of positional priorities, but it's certainly up there. Yes, they have two starters, but they don't have, like you said, any depth. I would fully expect them to draft somebody, whether it's in the fourth or fifth round, sixth round even, like they've done every year really for the last, you know, several years. They keep adding guys at corner back. It's one of the most drafted positions under Brandon Bean, draft an offensive lineman every year, draft a corner back every year. And maybe that was Sean McDermott, but I kind of doubt it,

50:32because that's just a position of need so much, especially with Terran Johnson getting older, I know that it's a different position and we'll talk about slot corner next. But, you know, drafting a boundary receiver makes just an absolute ton of sense. And adding somebody that has, you know, a little bit of starting experience, it's just like, it's the way that they're going to roll. I mean, obviously last year they brought back Trey White to be that, the depth option, but they also brought in Dane Jackson to raise the floor. And so you're going to see a guy that's got starting experience somewhere. It's harder now that it's a completely different defense to talk about to like pinpoint where that person might come from. But they're definitely going to sign somebody with some level of starting experience in this league. Let me throw in slot corner too. I think they stick with Terran Johnson for another year. No, they could, they could save some, some good money by cutting in post June 1st. It's been a little bit of speculation about a movement of safety. I don't buy that. I think that was more of a situation where Brandon being just saying, listen, everything's on the table. We're not rolling everything out. It is

51:33specifically say, yeah, I can see Terran Johnson movement of safety. He was kind of being, in my opinion, anyway, at the time, I mean, it's just my opinion, but he was just kind of being not dismissal of any potential scenario. I don't think that happens. They could move on from him. I mean, it could happen. Now, if they do, I was looking at some of these Mike Hilton, Asante Samuel, Jr. Greg Newsome, or one of the other guys I mentioned, call or I want to tell her, those are kind of more slot guys. Do you think Terran's back this year? If he is, I don't really dig you do. I mean, probably. I mean, Kim Lewis is a free agent, and he has been the de facto back up for a long time. It depends on what they want to do at Jordan Hancock. And I really just have no way of knowing where Justin Leonard wants to put Jordan Hancock. Does he want to be the safety next to Cole Bishop? Does he want to move him up into the box and make him the slot corner back? How much nickel are they going to be playing with the 3-4 defense? There's just so many questions right now with Leonard that I think that it just makes sense

52:37to keep the status quo right now. I know what I should have done is looked up if Terran has any money that's coming due in the next week or so, but I didn't do that. So sorry. I just know that it doesn't make any financial sense to cut him. Now, a post June 1st, designation could, uh, could happen though. Um, I'm glad you mentioned Jordan Hancock too. So I was going to say that could be the one surprise that, hey, when we look back in August, September, and look back to us, having conversations in March, you don't talk about Jordan Hancock. Maybe he's that nickel guy. Maybe Jim Leonard loves him and nickel and he takes over that spot at some point. I looked it up. I looked it up. Terran Johnson. What is he? He has $1.2 million fully guaranteeing on the fifth day of the league year, which is essentially with the NFL minimum salary. It's below the NFL minimum salary. So they could cut him if he signs anywhere else. It would be offset. So they're financially speaking, they could get rid of him at any point in time between now and September. So it could be a low key. Interesting thing to look out for then.

53:43Um, all right. Well, safety. Colby was back. I mean, he's the only shirt thing to tell a wrap. He's going to get caught. I haven't heard anything about again. We're less than a week away from tampering and bills haven't done anything as we record this, but I think ultimately he could get caught. That's $3.3 million. That's a, that's a nice chunk of money that the bills could save and could use. I, Demar Hamlin, free agent, Jordan Poirier, or free agent. I wouldn't rule Jordan Poirier out though. But anyway, not likely. Free agents. If they go that route, Colby Brian, it's a guy man I really like, but that is not going to be cheap. Cameron Curle from the Rams. I like him a lot. Geno Stone. I wanted him before he signed with Sinti a couple of years ago. PJ Lock from Demar, another low key guy. Maybe he follows Jim Leonard. I can see that. If you want to go on older guy, Kevin Barrett, Barrett from a, I'm sorry, from Chicago. He's 33 years old. Those Xavier Wood just got recently cut by a Tennessee. Lots of options out there. This is another

54:48position where I really don't know because there's the draft too. And from everything we've heard, this is a deep safety class with the draft. But bishops see only the, the real deal, right? After that, we, we just got a bunch of questions here. PJ Lock seems like the biggest no brainer on this list to your point, like coming with, you know, his former defensive backs coach, starting experience. It's the exact player we just talked about at cornerback. It's a guy that has started in the league, can start in the league. Maybe we don't want to count on him, you know, just like give him a ton of money and be like, hey, you're the starter. But like, to, to fill a role, to raise the floor, the, the Dane Jackson of it all, like I think he's probably only going to get three million season. Like, I mean, that's, it feels like the right move, again, is someone that can come in and help teach the, the defense to the rest of the defensive backs. So that one makes a ton of sense to me. I'm not convinced that they're going to move on

55:49from Taylor Rapp anytime soon to be perfectly honest. They only owe him a $250,000 roster bonus next week. So, I mean, they could keep him, like I said, all the way through the end of training camp without, with only paying him $250,000. It's just, unless you, unless I know what they're replacing them with, it doesn't necessarily make sense to move on from them. I know a lot of people want that one and a half million dollars of cap space. And I just don't think they need it. So, it is what it is. I'm just more of a cautious person at this point. Like, raise the floor, not necessarily like drop out, you know, a starting. I get it. So I get it. I get it. I get it. I didn't want to talk about Caleb Downs, though, because we just found out today that he was flagged for an injury concern at the combine by some teams. So there might be a scenario where he's available late enough in the first round. It doesn't go in the top five, which would be, I mean, shocking to me. But I guess he has a torn meniscus right now and a potential degrading ACL injury or something that they said. And so he falls all the way to, you know, the late 20s. That would be a very

56:54interesting conversation. I'll say depending on how his medicals check out. Let me ask you this question as a follow-up since we're talking about safeties. Let's just say he's still gone and he's not available. Or the bills are scared off by his medical and they're one of the teams that don't draft them. Would you be all right? If the way the board fell, there's two safeties beyond Downs. There's Dylan Thineman. There's a manual McNeil Warren who are projected first-round caliber safeties. Would you be good if the bills took a safety in the first round? If Jim Leonard took a safety in the first round, I'd be a lot better than, I mean, as much as Sean McDermott's like the defensive back guru and like he's more, he feels like more of a like his first priority for Sean McDermott was to sign two safeties. They added Michael Hyde, they added Jordan Poir and they ran with those for a long time. If Jim Leonard thinks that safety is important enough where they're going to spend the first pick of this defensive transition

57:55on safety, then I'm probably going to trust Jim Leonard on that one. It is not the position group that I would usually spend a first-round pick on. Just like we've talked about some other places. I don't know if the impact is enough of a safety for a first-round pick unless it's like, you know, just an absolute game-changing guy that just is so rangel like, you know, your edge reads or something like that. So I'm, if he was guaranteed, if one of them were guaranteed to be, have a Cooper Dijon ton style impact, that feels like it's worth the first round. Yeah, like if Jim Leonard thinks that that guy is going to make that big of an impact and he foregoes adding an ed rusher, adding a nose tackle, adding an off-ball linebacker and goes with safety as the first pick of his defensive transition, then it probably would like, I'd probably be on board with it and be like, okay, I'm trusting you, buddy. Like this is you. Yeah, and you know, so I like whole Bishop a lot. I like Christian Bedford a lot.

58:55If Max Harrison hits and I don't see a reason why he won't hit, you know, I didn't see anything as rookie-year. It says, man, this guy doesn't look good at all. You know, he had a couple, you know, plays where he got B, but whatever. He's a rookie. And he missed a lot of time. I'm not going to dig him a lot for that. But anyway, you got three quarters of it and you go get that first round elite style safety potentially. Man, I really love a defense that's got a great secondary, you know. Yeah, there were just so many times where it's like third and 14 and the bills can't get off the damn field because they're covering so far down the field. And so like, that's always why I prioritize the past rush and, you know, the defensive line in that particular situation. But like to your point, it's nice to have that umbrella over the top of the defense. I just, I feel like Leonard said he wants to be more attacking. Joe Brady said he wants to dictate before, during and after the snap on defense. And I mean, a safety that you can move around

59:56can do that. But they're fewer and far between than I think Max Pass rusher. I think I'm narrowing in my realistically perfect, realistically perfect bills off season on this you go. And PJ lock singleton, John Franklin Myers, if you could bring three Denver defenders with you, if you're Jim Leonard, Myers will be the expensive one singleton kind of like sort of and range PJ lock on the cheaper side, then you go get your receiver or whatever it may be. Shaheed Evans, Romeo Dobbs, whoever it is that they lock on on. And you could go get a good edge rusher in the first one of the draft. To me, and you sign a guy, I don't know who we could throw a guy out there. Maybe the guy from Seattle that you talked about, you know, another guy like that as well. But man, I really would like that off season a lot for the Buffalo bills. And it feels doable. I don't think I said anything crazy. I'm not talking Max cross me. I'm not talking you know, AJ Brown, which I just I know by the AJ Brown thing, I really don't. It's the one

1:01:01person I've never bought here. I mean, I've been very clear about it. I don't think the Eagles can afford to trade him financially. Yeah. You talked about that. I think I read something where if it's going to happen, it's going to happen real soon. So we will have an answer. I believe on that relatively soon. At least that's what I think I read anyway. I want to skip over kickers of punters. They're probably going to have another kicker. They're probably well, they might have another kicker if they got to other paths. If not, they got to other paths. Maybe they bring back which now ski. Maybe they don't. I don't care enough to waste the last few minutes talking about that. But what I do want to do real quick here, um, looking at the current up to date spot rack numbers. We'll fly through these. These are the bills biggest free agents and what they're going to command on spot rack. Based on, let's just play for for shits and giggles as spot rack is accurate. I'm going to ask you if you have an interest in bringing these guys back. Okay. At their price, that they're projected to get bills, uh, pending free agents. David Edwards 19.9 million.

1:02:05No, too high. Too high. Conor government, kind of more governed, 16.3 million. If he's going to take a hometown discount, I don't know if I could do it at 16 just with torrents coming up next year. And then you've got big numbers for Dawkins and, uh, brown, I, I don't see them doing 16 million dollars for him. It's such a tough decision because you're probably going to lose that word. You're like, maybe I don't want to lose 40% of my starting off as a line last year, not to mention my office of line coach. But signing him might stop you from being able to go get that linebacker safety combo that we were just talking about a few minutes ago at the prices that they would command. So tough call there. I agree. Joey Bolsa 13.8. I will kick you out of the studio before the show ends if you say bring a man. So that's a little bit steep. But, um, you know, I, I wouldn't be opposed to having Joey Bolsa on this team next year. But I think 14 is, is a high number. I'll pretend you didn't say that. AJ Epin has a 6.4 million. That one I could definitely see them bringing him back. If they

1:03:05have a role for him in mind, um, that dude's weight has been all over the place since, you know, he was at Iowa. Um, the bills kind of molded him into what they wanted at that as rush or position over the course of the last five years. If, if Jim Leonard again sees a spot for him, I don't think that that cost is too much for a guy like that. Mary Ogie, Joey $5. Not more of 5 million. I would not bring back Larry Ogie, Joey. I don't think he fits in this defense enough to bring him back. Um, but sentimentally, I would love to have him back. Brandy Cook's $3 million. Pays me to agree with you on that, but I almost feel like my, my beef is this. Everyone's just wide receiver four, wide receiver five. If you're wide receiver, one, two, three, four, five, you're on the field, you're going to play. And Josh isn't saying,

1:04:08well, I'm not going to throw him in this critical part because he's wide receiver four. He's open. He's getting the football. Is he going to make the catch? Do I trust him to make the catch? That's my issue. You've only got Khalil Shakir as your lock, as a locked in player on this, you know, Bill's wide receiver court. Paul, if you are raising the floor, I, it's my mantra over and over again. You're raising the floor by bringing back Brandy Cook's at $3 million. It was three, right? That's the number you hit. Yeah. I mean, that seems like a no-brainer. It's like, you know, signing Elijah Moore for, you know, $3 million. It's like signing. I mean, I could go through what the bills did last year to throw just stuff at the wall to see what would stick. And then all of them had their worst career here ever, as we talked about. But like, throw as much stuff at that wide receiver room as you possibly can right now. And $3 million is an easy decision for me. I feel like if it's, if his market's really $3 million, I think he'll be back. I think he'll be back. And I don't think he on it's going to be back. It's real quick here. Shakir Palmer, you bring back cooks. You're going to, he's not going to be your offseason edition.

1:05:11You're going to get another guy veteran guy. We'll call him. That's four rookie guy. That's five. Worst guy at Coleman fit in. If you bring back cooks, I don't think there's spot for cooks and neither of them play special teams either, by the way. So we'll see. But yeah, $3 million. Sure. Shak Thompson, $2.4 million. That's a very small number. That is a surprising number for him. It is. That's got me big. I mean, two and a half. If you want us to come back, I'll sign him for two and a half like tomorrow. So I mean, yeah, yeah, he's not going to sign tomorrow for two and a half. I'll tell you that right now. You gave, gave Davis one point. I don't think he's going to sign anywhere this year. His knee looks so messed up. I was going to stick. Here's the last one. I'm surprised by this. I got to admit this. This might change my mind about a lot of shit. We've talked about over the last month. Trey White, 1.2 million. Yes, absolutely. That's that's better in minimum, man. Like, I mean, come on, I would sign him for veteran minimum and a heartbeat. Oh, well, on the bills, I'm do, I've signed over double that. Yeah. If on the bills,

1:06:16my point, my stance has been if I'm Trey White, why are you only taking one and a half to two million dollars from the bills? When you could go get, I would, I thought more money somewhere else. And certainly a more legitimate opportunity to start. It's only the guy 36 years old. Was he 30, 31 years old? I mean, he's still going to have a good handful of years left. And he showed that he could play last year. That's shocking. That kind of changed my mind. Hey, I'll tell you what, if that markets that, and I give them more than that and say, hey, man, come back here. Well, there you go. There's your death problem solved with Trey White. Or maybe make sure it's going to be okay. Man or she's released Marshawn Lattimore, who's drafted the same year. It's not like, you know, these guys, like you said, it's not like these guys are ancient. So, I mean, I think they're going to find a place somewhere. I was, I was thinking that Trey White might follow Bobby Babatch to Green Bay. But then I was talking to our Green Bay guy. And he's like, no, he's too old. They only want like 26 and 27 year olds. I'm like, but at 1.2 million, that might be a

1:07:19different conversation to Green Bay. I'll tell you. Yeah, as we're gunning us, we're getting off the air to the Jets did franchise tag, Breeze Hall. And according to chapter, they're working on a lucrative long term deal. So Breeze Hall. Take the money. All right. Yeah, dude. This shitty team, but you're going to be rich at least. Anyway, all right. So that'll do it for this show. I will be very disappointed the next time we get together. If we are not talking about significant upgrades or cuts or something with this team, because again, tampering period, which is the unofficial real start of free agency anyway, stars before we get together. So I really hope we got, I'll be disappointed. If I've got to come up, if I got to reach for some topics, then it's not going to be a lot of fun, man. We need to have new players to talk about here on the show next week. Be sure you follow Matt on socials at
