Welcome back, Chuck. He's come to you live on one of six seven, the fan and the team nine 80. So last night I was enthralled with the world baseball classic. But I did flip it over to the Academy Awards for four minutes. Maybe turn a commercial break and then I realized I'd forgotten to flip it back to the world baseball classic. It was early. Like, right? They start before eight. I'll start like seven, seven, seven, seven. Start up like yearly, the only thing that I saw was a performance of golden. It was K-pop going out there. So that's the only thing I saw. So I didn't see Conan's monologue. I didn't see who won. You informed me this morning that your favorite movie of the year won best picture. I didn't see any of those eight movies that were not originally or ten. It's either eight or ten. I didn't see any of them. I didn't. No chance. Anything called hamnet. I mean, no chance. Hamnet. Hamnet. You think of it as a hamnet or hamlet?
No, neither. Draven hour commiserating about how I guess we're the only two people on the planet that thought one battle after another. Let's be honest. It's just okay. Yeah, just okay. And or kind of stunk. And it wasn't a huge fan who was in one battle after only in order to caprio. Venetio del Toro. Like some big, big fan. It's on pen. Oh, so great actress one best supporting actor. I didn't need to invite her to show up to Sean Penn really. He even accepted his award here at Colt. He's like, Sean Penn is either what how do you frame? He says he either couldn't make it or didn't want to be here. So I'll accept that his behalf. Do you think he's ever happy? Sean Penn. He looks like printer really miserable. Maybe 10% of the time that he's awake. He might be happy. I think he's happy being unhappy. But I think he's happy being a bully, being a meanie. And he likes that much more happy not being at an award show. Yeah, like that's like the last place he wants to be.
What's the plot of one battle? No, it's because I was watching the Oscars with my daughter and my wife. And my my daughter who hadn't seen the movie asked me who's seen the movie. What's the movie about? And my brain started doing this. It froze up. Yeah. And I sat there for 10 seconds. It's a fun and I was like, it's something about it like counter revolutionary. And then I was just like, I can't remember anything more than that. So I had to go to Wikipedia to find out the plot of what the two seven I just watched plot description. Jason sure. I just put it up on wiki. Bob is a washed up revolutionary who lives in a state of stone paranoia, surviving off-grid with his spirit in self-reliant daughter, Willa. When his evil nemesis resurfaces and Willa goes missing the former radical scrambles to find her. So it's a father and daughter battle consequence. Is it a murder mystery? No, no, it's like a chase film kind of.
Oh, okay. Yeah, I mean, it's one battle after another. There's a lot going on. It's it's just it's a mass is what kind of a mass. So it's entertaining for a couple hours. It's got to be me sounds like it. It was fine. It's just a weird movie. I would never watch it again. I would never I would never sit down and watch it again for even five minutes, but it won best picture one best one of those it was a box office flop. I'm pretty sure it has to cap real. And so I think people thought it was going to be this massive movie in the summertime. They came out in the theaters and just I don't think a ton of people saw it says. Here's a made about a 210 million. I don't know if that's good or bad, but that's probably worldwide. Just says box office seems like a decent amount. Yeah, I don't know. May I just couldn't believe all the all of the hype that it got. I do tell Toro is my guy that I like it. I like to capture an actor. Well, obviously Leo's a great actor too. Just so that's a garbage movie. That's what I thought. I mean, you're you're welcome to watch it and tell me what you think. But man, that movie's just not not for me, not for drag. I know that I do know. I think Conan was talking about the theme of what's going on in Hollywood right now is
that so many of the movies like Hollywood is dying. Right. The movies are not being shot there anymore. They're being shot all over the planet. Yeah. And Hollywood's entire industry of like shooting movies and sets over there. Right. They are shooting less movies now in 2026 than they did during COVID year. Okay. Like total film days and everything like it's dry. Like Hollywood is in a crisis right now. And then you have AI coming that's trying to replace everything. Right. So yeah, I think that was like it's not like a great time in Hollywood to be celebrated. Right. I think right now. Right. I saw Ben Affleck sold some sort of AI film company for hundreds of millions of dollars. Yeah. Yeah. We're going to hear some of Conan's monologue. Sure. A minute. I listen to some of it. Yeah. I am Conan O'Brien. And I'm honored to be the last human host of the Academy Awards. Yes. Yeah. Next year it's going to be a Weimo in a TuX. So get that out. Though it's great to be back hosting the Oscars last year when I hosted Los Angeles was
on fire. But this year everything's going great. Oh, you applaud that. That's weird. That's weird. Security is extremely tight tonight. I just got to mention that. Yeah. I'm told there's concerns about attacks from both the opera and ballet communities. He pauses there. Yeah. So that's what he looks down at the stems from. Timothy Shalameh. Timothy Shalameh made some sort of disparaging comments. I guess about the ballet and opera that people aren't in the ballet and opera. He's accurate. He's one of those people. Not in the ballet. I thought a lot was made out of the statements. He's pretty much. I saw there are some people that are in the ballet and opera. But I don't know if most of mainstream America's in the ballet and opera at this point. His girlfriend Kylie Jenner, you're 100 percent amazing. Yeah.
She looked ridiculous. I understand that she's probably AI and has done every sort of improvement, breast enhancement whatever. But she was sitting there and I was like, wow, I can't believe he gets to bang that. He looked like Mike Moore cut his hair before the Oscars. I know. Yes. And it penciled in mustache. She's a mustache. What is he doing? And I just like, how does he get the climb on top of that? I mean, because he did a ping pong movie. Yeah. She's got to see the picture. She's got things out. There's milkers or go. She got the tiny waist and the enormous hips. What is his style is thinking? I don't know. He just probably figures. I can go show up and look like anything just because of who I am. So Conan starts by making the ad jokes. Ben Affleck sold his stealth AI start up. He's such a nothing. I mean, he's up four. Think about this. Ben Affleck, who's killed it in life, making movies and all that stuff, decides to do
an AI start up called stealth sold it to Netflix for $600 million. I mean, what does Ben Affleck know about AI? How does he create an AI start up? I mean, that's amazing. Good for him. That's great. I just think the secret is, as Domazzi looks, he's pretty smart guy. He's clearly smart, dude. Yeah. Apparently, it's AI, which will bring advanced tech into film and TV production. He's staying within his genre. I mean, all the other actors probably hate him, because he's bringing AI, he's been teaching on your way out. But he sees the future. I guess so. I mean, for him, I just can't get over more to Valdez's point about him dating Kylie Jenner. I mean, I guess they get it. You're famous. Whatever. He's not an attractive guy. He's average. Yeah. I don't know. That's Hollywood, man. The way he grooms himself too. Don't like it. Don't like it. It's slovenly. He just did that. Got that gross slovenly look. Yeah. I'm sure I can tell. He's on a handsome guy. Slovenly. I'm wearing sweats.
I had to tell. Yeah. Not about us, Katie. Not about us. We're not at the Oscars. Definitely not at the Oscars. Right. Right. All right. Can you play a little bit more of Conan? I like Conan O'Brien, generally. Yeah. They're just mad. You left out jazz. Uh. I should warn you tonight could get political, OK? And if that makes you uncomfortable, there's an alternate Oscars being hosted by Kid Rock. Yeah. It's at the David Buster's down the street. A lot of tickets for that. Netflix. This is exciting. A lot of cool people are here. And some of them behind the scenes, Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos is here. And this is exciting. It's his first time in a theater. That's a good joke. That's a good joke. Ted Sarandos. Because of that Netflix guy, that's all the movies going straight to your living room. Not a theater guy. That's a good joke. It's a solid joke. I know it's a big joke clearly.
Don't tell me on that, a Netflix movie, Frankenstein, was winning a bunch of awards. Now I feel like I need to watch the reboot of Frankenstein, starring some dude I've never heard of. Jacob Allordy, I think that's his name, who's the lead. You never heard of him. He's the best. Jacob Allordy. I may have heard his name once before I do it. Let me see if I recognize it. Before I knew he was in Frankenstein, I don't know him from anything else. I don't know any of these act. I know Michael B. Jordan. That's it. Only because he was in Friday night lights. I know Leo. And Leo. But most of these guys and these women, I had no idea who they were. Yeah. Allordy is going to be like the next big star. He's like, he might already be the hunk of the century for women. He might already be the, yeah, he's in some no romantic movie. Now he's a warthorning heights. Whether in heights with both Margot Robbie. He's now looking at him. He looks handsome compared to Shalamet. He looks like the guy that should be banging Jenner. Yeah. He might be pissed. They put all the makeup on me for Frankenstein. What's the guy doing?
Jacob Allordy. I see him. How do you spell his lesson? He L-O-U-R-I-D-I-D-E-L-O-R-O-R-D-I. Okay. He's Aussie. He's got a silly jawline. Yeah, yeah. He's tall. I mean, kind of a similar look, but he's better looking than Shalamet, for sure. Yeah, he's got. Well, they definitely, like you say, he's got stronger features. They definitely, a spoiler alert. They ugly him up for Frankenstein. He doesn't look like that in the movie. By the way, the, I guess, makeup person that got an award said he sat in the makeup chair for 400 hours. Who did it? Him. During the filming, 400 hours in the makeup chair throughout the film. Oh, my God. You imagine? No. I think he's probably getting paid handsomely. I think there's rumors that he was slamming Margot Robbie on set over the Rom Heights. Wow. Yeah. Okay. Kind of scandalous, isn't she married? Yeah. Because he gave her like a promise ring. Oh. Gave her a promise ring. Is he middle school? Yeah. Like a little life he gave her a promise ring? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He went to her dressing room, gave her a promise ring that was engraved in everything. Yeah. And then everyone thinks that he's slamming her. So I do know Michael B. Jordan won for Best Actor. Yeah. Who won for Best Actress? Is it anybody? Jesse Buckley. Whoever that is. Jesse Buckley. Hold on. I think it's Jesse Buckley. Yeah, I just went through him all. And Irish Actress. Was that for Hamlet? Yes. Jesse. Yeah. I'm just, I'm just. Pretty sure I'm never going to watch that. Best supporting was Amy Madigan. Oh, you definitely didn't see that move. You definitely didn't see weapons back. She deserved Best Support Actress for that. Because she was terrifying in that movie. She was? Yes. She was great as Aunt Gladys in Weapons. That's one of the few movies. I saw that. Oh, you did see that. I saw weapons. I saw weapons. Is it really? Yes. Yeah. I don't know if it's your cup of tea. It's a scary movie though. Oh, it's definitely scorey. It's not horror. It's just a scary movie.
It's horror, right? It's a horror film. Yes. It's a horror film. The kids run like he does. He pulls off. Yeah. They do kind of run. Just a weird little bit. I did. I forgotten she was married to Ed Harris like a Hollywood hour couple. She was. She was the, uh, supporting actress in field of dreams years ago. She was also in Uncle Buck. She was. She's been acting for a long time. She was familiar. Jessie Buckley. I don't know who she is. Right. That was that was bitch, missing all these movies. I don't see. I don't see those two movies. I see movies. He used to do a few say Matt and then he's all the time. No, but even weapons that was on Netflix right these no one no one told me about it I just I just slept on it. Hey, you're sleeping on weapons pretty good. It's pretty big, but you're a TV guy Series guy you're a TV series and I just stick with that here's especially while you're sleeping on weapons It's got it's got Ruth from Ozark. Ah, she's really good in it too. You know what you should watch that this week That's up on weapons My theory is is that people are just our attention spans are shorter
So we can watch live sporting events true, you know, we can hang in and watch a football game But it's hard to just set aside like three hours to watch. I want to say weapons Oh, probably clocks in at an hour forty hour forty five minutes. It's worth your time Matt the last movie I watched on it wasn't the theater was on I guess it was on net was rip. No, no, I'm sorry We did the rip right was that statement in an athlete. I'm yes. Yeah, that was the last one was all right. I know it's okay I agree was okay. Yeah, it was okay. I'm glad it didn't go past the time 25 bucks on nothing that you're gonna think about 10 years from now All right, but I'll watch weapons. Yeah, tell me it's good. Yeah, give me your your review. Tell me how many parlays you give it all right All right, what else who else won Buckley Madigan Jordan who won best supporting actor Sean Penn? Oh Sean Penn Yeah, he didn't show up didn't post it was definitely not there Definitely not in the mix I mean, what if he has a bubbly personality behind the scenes like nobody's ever seen it and he's a life for the party
This is got a grumpy disposition No chance. He's the classic guy that that everybody tells you about a guy who's like you'd really love this guy If you just sat down and had a drink with it. Yes Like maybe it was super inner circle. He's a good dude, but I'm guessing if you don't know him He doesn't want to know you and it's not gonna go well if you try to go talk to what's his height? He's 5.8 and a half that about 5.8 and a quarter apparently. Where are you cakes? Probably right around there guys are same high Sean Pennish height if you don't have the Dishonel you have a much better disposition than Sean Penn And immediately I thought well, maybe he's just grumpy because he's short Okay, he's got short man's got it was the obvious, but yeah, you don't have that disposition. No, not at all I'm a pleasant demeanor. I'm a silly short-killing over here. Yeah, you pleasant demeanor We've had three marriages that have failed that could make you grumpy. He's married to Madonna robbing right I don't think he cares about that. Yep robbing right who's the third marriage some lady named Laila George
So is he currently single or is he currently marrying? I don't know Laila George bought the way holy crap It's so beautiful. Yeah Wow Whatever happened to his brother Christopher did he pass away he died he died of a heart attack like Six or seven years ago. Yeah, I should say seven or eight years ago. I'm not trying to do a six or seven. Oh six Yeah, it's like 15 years ago 20 years ago. 20. He's been dead for 20 years. Yeah Life slime. Wow, that's crazy. Yeah, life slime. He's definitely a murder by numbers He's the guy that that Ryan Gosling and the wimpy arts kid try to set up in murder by numbers Which by the way you probably sleep on that movie too? I Do a little Sandra Bullock. I just pretty good. I saw it. I just care. Well, that's 25-year-old movie 30-year-old movie I just remember Chris Penn from frigging foot loose Yeah, Chris Penn was in foot was in foot loose. Yes. He was the goofy friend. Mm-hmm Well, I'm glad the Oscars is over
You barely knew what happened. I saw I just bought some little brother red carpet tweet or an Instagram post Our buddy Kevin McCarthy who doesn't come on the show anymore sometimes people will tweet us Why isn't he on the show anymore? He moved to LA. It makes it virtually impossible to have him on the show Right, unless he's gonna wake up at you know five in the morning. Yeah And they still have them on if there's some sort of big significant Movie event at the end of the show But he's not gonna be on every week right breaking down the terrible movies that come out on a weekly basis So there's a big one. We'll have Kevin on But I saw this picture of me. He's holding an award. I was like oh, maybe he went to the Academy Awards He won some sort of press award. Oh good. He probably deserves it. Yeah guy works his ass off I mean we break his balls, but the kid works his ass off and he was there super enthusiastic about it all he was there last night Oh, I don't know it was uh, let me see if I can punch it up I don't want to punch up the politician got to put TV on there. I gotta get the right guy. Here it is
Don't get mixed up. He said surreal and unexpected to win the press award at the 63rd annual publicist awards Hmm the publicist love him of course Right. I've never heard of them. I mean, it's great. They want an award the publicist's awards I mean, it's great. He can put it on his mantle celebrate it. That's awesome. He's got an award. That's great. We don't get it We don't win anything. I got nothing good for him The 63rd annual ICG publicist awards But that's why he can get all these great guests on his podcast. Yeah, I like the award show. We hosted that one time Oh, we definitely hosted like a and an advertised award show Like it was the at ease. That was probably 20 years ago. Yeah, it was awful It's a long time. We've been an awful event for local advertisers We've never waited to read a script. It was a side hustle paycheck. Yeah, we got a little paid those have Pretty much dried up. Yeah, we don't get a lot of it anymore
