I'm just kidding Pat, good morning. Welcome to Beyond the Pond. How you doing my friend? You stated it perfectly. I agree with you. Enough! Enough! Enough! I thought you were going to call and say, why don't you just take today off. I'm sick of hearing you. No, I would never do that actually. I say that off the year all the time but never. I say that to myself. No way. Kevin, how are you? It's been a good week for you and I want to get over to it. We've got, we're jammed for the next two hours and so we don't have a lot of time

1:05for Golden Gofer and College Hockey this week. We'll make amends next week, I promise. So I do want to get into the gofers But let's get the joy of your life out of the way right off the bat. We had a gem the yesterday and your squad is back battling for a title. Yeah, it's final countdown is on. And the keeping Bluejackets pour from their bench, go and creep their senior gold tender Gavin Lamfear and they celebrate the fact they got past the Matamidae Zephyr's 4-2 today on semifinal Friday. They're off to the championship game and we'll be looking for their first state title since 1973. Can they get it done? If you're at Grand Casino Arena, it's going to be awesome tomorrow at noon in St. Paul. That'll be today in a couple of hours, Patrick. Are you excited? I'm happy for those kids. They made it last year and they were awfully, awfully young in their first time there. I think since 2011 or 12.

2:082011, yep. So I think you learned something from year to year and they all came back. And so I think they learned I think they learned from it and you know, they got an awfully good team. But but so does world and I think it's going to be a great game today and I'm looking forward to it from my coach. Good for you. It's a rematch from 1996. The Bluejackets have advanced to the title game three times. They've won two of them in 1952 and 1973. They fell short in 1996. Was that a championship game? They lost five three to the World Warriors when I'm taking it and I think the first foray into Class A, the split section stuff coming on that tier stuff that you and Tony were talking about last year. Do you remember anything about that 1996 game? Zero. I don't know what happened yesterday. I'm with you know, I mean, sometimes it gets a lot and a lot of a lot of years in between.

3:11And unless you were living it and a part of it, you kind of don't remember some of that stuff. I don't know where you are on that, but I'm 100% like that. Yeah, and so but we can talk about the here and now and you know, having to got a lot of talented talented players, young players, some seniors that are really, really good. And same goes for for for Warrode. I mean, they could have just said, OK, we're done. You know, down to nothing after one against Delano and minute 28 into the period. They score three goals. I mean, it was crazy. Yeah, it's great. Good. Both good games yesterday and so looking forward to today. So much fun. Both games, I think, will be epic. Warrode against having noon right here on the fan and on the KFN plus later on tonight. Halvi will be behind the mic for Minotanka and more. How is Halvi? Where is Halvi? Halvi's not doing so well. Let me tell you something.

4:11He lacks energy, typically, but he's like below his typical energy level in a big way. He's he's struggling. He's taking a couple extra hours today to sleep it off and hoping that he'll be able to get it through tonight. You know, I quite frankly, I don't know how he does it because he has to get up for the morning show. Yep. And that's he's probably getting up at three in the morning. Yep. Something like that. Yep. And then working for you at the, you know, with a wild. Yeah. Those are some awfully long days. They can be. Yeah. And maybe it's catching up to him. Well, I saw his face last night as we were calling the semifinal Friday on the single A level. He was here hanging around and ended up sitting in the Bobcourts radio center on a comfy chair. How did he go home? I have no idea. I think he thought he was needed here, which he probably wasn't, but then he ended up staying for the double A. And so anyway, I mean, he's not doing so well. Hopefully he'll get some sleep and he'll be back tonight to call.

5:13He wasn't going to miss it. He's got Minotank against Morehead. I said, I haven't looked into either of those two teams. I have not studied their numbers, but you are struggling to do it. If you need me to do it, I will tell me now he says, no, it's just one game. I'll get through it. And that was an exact impression. Are you going to be working that game with him then or? No, I'm doing the single A with Danny Ryan at noon that Danny Ryan and Halvi will do the games. Oh, because you got that as wild. Nope. That's tomorrow at one o'clock. Oh, that's tomorrow. I got a free night and I'm actually coming down here. I'm actually coming down here. I'm going to watch the double A championship game in person. I can't wait. And I don't have to work. Not tomorrow ahead said. I'm not going to have any type of a soundtrack. I'm going to be surrounded by fans. It'll be great. And this will parlay nice into a week of hockey for me. Not only all the high school stuff and the wild sprinkled in there as well. I was at three in Marina at Miriyuchi earlier this week. Yes. I picked the wrong game to go to Patrick. Oh, that Thursday game was a stinker. And I was sitting there watching it. It was not pleasant. One of the most disappointing disappointments for me all season long was that came

6:20because you want to play the spoiler. You know, when you're playing a team that is going for a championship in the league. And you want to build off what you did. You know, splitting with the number two team in the country in Michigan. And so you're thinking, OK, you know what this is going to be a heck of a series. And the Thursday night game was, you know, I was I was really upset after just because, you know, the effort wasn't there. And it was just really disappointing. But as I said on the broadcast last night, Kevin, I said, I don't care if they win or lose tonight. I just want to see some fight, some effort. It's senior night. You know, get your seniors out on a good note. And they played really well last night. Yeah, you got your wish. What a turn of events. Yeah. And you know, winning a shootout, they were down a goal. And, you know, tied it up, you know, later in the game.

7:23And so that was good to see in that. And that will make them feel good going into the playoffs starting on Wednesday at Penn State. A lot of cool moments from last night. And again, such a turn of events from Thursday to Friday. Like you said, they get to go out, close out the regular season on a high note. They get the shootout win strangely enough. Suddenly they won three straight via the shootout. Yeah. But a cool moment last night for the senior gold tenor Zach. Weas. Yes. It's the start. Makes it safe and makes way for a passable. That's a pretty cool moment. You know, think about it. Four years this kid. Four years of going to practice every day. Not missing one on the road. Going to the morning skates to skate with the guys. Who weren't shooting up that night and taking their shots and stuff. Never one complaint. Always a great teammate. I mean, terrific, terrific kid. And, you know, Bob surprised him with the start last night. And I told Bob before the game. I said, you know, I don't care.

8:24I hope you play him the whole game while he played one minute. Yeah. Made the one save and they, you know, they pulled him. You know, and he was fine with that. We interviewed him after the first period. But it was, he's just a great story and a great kid. And it epitomizes, you know, what it means to play, you know, at Minnesota. Yeah. Pretty neat. A great idea. And I guess you're taking credit for it. So a great job on that path of feeding that to Mr. Montzko. Yeah. You put the kid in and it was awesome. Well, no, I mean, I, I, he, Bob, it told me that he was going to start him. I know what's in your idea. I'm just kidding. Yeah. Yeah. And I said, and I, you know, after Bob told me that, that he was starting, I said, well, I hope you play him the whole game to him. Yep. And that went over like every other suggestion I make to the coaching staff. You were immediately showing the door. Well, they just say, you know, head upstairs. Yeah. And then like, you know, they're kind enough to let me in.

9:24But, you know, yes, when it's time to leave the room, you leave the room. I got you. Give me your 30 second synopsis, a little preview of the big 10 tournament. The golfers have Penn State. That single elimination, correct? It is. And, and you know, if there were any team that the golfers would want to play in the first round, it is Penn State. Oh, good. They are reeling. They've got a couple key players out. They've given up 12 goals in this past weekend. Against Wisconsin. Yeah. The previous week, they won it over time and lost to Notre Dame, who is at the bottom of the league. Notre Dame is playing better. But, but there are team that is, is reeling right now. So, you know, if, if the Minnesota that played last night shows up in plays like that on Wednesday, they will be Penn State. They will be Penn State. But, you know, that's your, your guess is, is good of mine, which team is going to show up.

10:25Are you going to Penn State? I am going to Penn State. I am leaving Tuesday. Should we win, Kevin, just, you know, for next Saturday's show? Okay. Should we win? We will stay on the road and go to either, you know, Ann Arbor. Yeah. Um, uh, East Flansing. And so we'll have to see how that plays out. That would be a good problem to have. I hope that comes up. All right. Yeah. Anyway, we got a squeeze in that first break. Your buddy, uh, Sean Golds, where are these going to do? Golly. I can't wait. Yeah. All right. So we'll take the break. He's coming up next. Uh, we got to go for stuff out of the way. Well, maybe we can get back to it here as the show rolls on. But like I said, we're jammed. Uh, we're going to talk the NHL trade deadline and a big matchup coming up for the wild tomorrow. The wild going to Colorado to take on the avalanche. That's a one o'clock puck drop from ball arena. 11:25Bill Garen has a trade deadline. One guy is Brett handling that one. Are you and I off for that? We I'm fired up about it. I think that'd be great. I love both of them. We should definitely do that. It's always fun to talk to Marcus Flino. You know, let's get a say. Before we go to break, now Brett's got to deal with two Flino's. Oh my God. I love both of them. Wait till Nick takes a dumb penalty. I got to do anything in the offensive zone. Oh my God. I can't wait. That should be a lot of fun. Tony Scott, by the way, will be along in the second hour as well with his typical youth hockey hub update and lots going on. Of course, with the boys state high school hockey tournament. But let's get that first break out of the way. When we continue, we're going to be joined by the head coach of the Minnetonka skippers. Sean Goldsworthy is next. I'll be on the pond. It's another try for Minnetonka. But the nobody knows where it is. And then another opportunity for the skipper's shot score.

12:25Cash Hardy. Cash is in. And the Minnetonka skippers are headed to the state championship. That was the sound last night on the fan. Zach Halverson, Danny Ryan. Call an overtime winner for the Minnetonka skippers. They're back in the state title championship game coming up tonight at seven o'clock. Kevin Falmus and Pat McAlletti. Pleased to be not joined now by the head coach of the Minnetonka skippers. Mr. Sean Goldsworthy. Congratulations on the victory. Last night, Sean, and welcome to be on the pond. Oh, good morning. Thanks for having me and a great time of the year. One of my favorites, Goldie, you always have been. And what a team you have this year. A little different, right? I mean, you've got balance throughout your whole lineup. And it's not like one guy sticks out for your team. Yeah, I would agree, Pat.

13:26We, you know, recent teams that we've had down here and wanted. We were built in a little differently. We had some really dynamic forward. I could fill up a net. We know whether it's Bobby Brank or Javon Moore or Hagen Peroles. And we just had a lot of really good players back to get up and down. This team has built differently. We're built from a goal line out and a really good defense fund. Great net. And then our forwards are really interchangeable. We just keep coming at you in waves. Take us through the overtime last night, Sean. If you can, the game itself, you had to rally from two zero and three. One deficit. Yeah, end up winning it in overtime. The cash heart, he's going to get credit for the goal. But that was a nice little set up by Aaron's and two. Yeah, those, those two have kind of found a nice little niche with Liam Schultz there on that line. And I thought we just had really good push as the, as the night went on. Our guys, I thought kept getting stronger. I think our bench kept getting deeper. And the, the ice started to tell when we were playing downhill. And I thought it was just a matter of time.

14:26We kept on crumeting some shots. And then if, if we just keep hunting, we're going to get some turnovers. We did get a turnover. And then, you know, Max just made a great backhand pass to cash in the slot there to finish it off. Well, I tell you what, I, you know, I, I know you don't like to single out, you know, a, you know, a player, players on your team. But that's second line of years in this tournament as, as really been, I mean, fantastic for you. You know, you mentioned Aaron's, Aaron's and Schultz and Hardy, you know, Hardy only being a sophomore. That's a kid who's got a ton of potential, huh? Yeah, he's got a little heart rate. I can't finish. And he's been doing it all year. So if you've been paying attention to us, that's how kind of how we operate. But, you know, we, we really don't see, you know, a first, second and third line here. I know that's a cliche pad, but we've been playing 11 forwards all year. We've been playing 6, 7, D all year.

15:26You know, I think it, it has more to do with just that current matchup as it goes through. Jordan Johnson and Ethan Sturgis and Cooper Ran, I'll seem to take on other teams, maybe so-called top lines, which might create some mismatches for us. But we're not, we're just not afraid to play any of our lines against anybody. So I think we've been doing it all year and it's work. There are some, you know, nights where the skill set gets a little bit higher. And we might have to put our defenseman in certain situations. But, you know, I think whoever gets that mismatch is going to score. Because in the section final game against Chan Ashton, I, you know, our other line, so-called third line for a lot of people, you know, they ended up having three or four goals. But you said that your team's built from the goal out. That tells me you are pretty happy with your senior goal tender. Chase Jurti, tell me about him. 20 saves in the victory last night and helped secure the trip to the championship game. Yeah, I mean, Chase has just been outstanding all year. We think he's been the best going to stay at the top of the bottom.

16:27He's played everybody, you know, just had his statistics show it. Whether it's safe percentage or shutouts or anything. And he allows us to play with really tight gap and skate. If somebody does get behind us or, you know, he's able to make some saves. That's been really good. And he's a kid that's kind of come through the program and kind of figured it out. You know, we played a full year of JV as a sophomore and really didn't get the net last year, either as a junior and then just kind of stepped up and took over from day one. Give us kind of a preview then of tonight. We know you've got a good team and you just illustrated some of the highlights on your squad. You're going up against the defending champs here and more ahead. There are no slouches either. What are you guys up against tonight, Sean? Well, they're, they have elite talent. I mean, these, these kids, you know, first off and foremost, that most impressive with John and his staff is, you know, all those kids came back. They had opportunities to skate in the SHL and maybe play somewhere else,

17:29but they came back as a group. And that's hard to do, especially after you've already won it, right? So those kids came back as a group. They're really talented. They're, they remind me of our team, you know, two or three years ago on the power play. They're balanced. They got finishers. They, they move the puck. Very flat and pressed. But they have a lot of talent. We saw them earlier. I thought they were the best team in the state to start the year. We were able to go up and bite them in December. And I think you're seeing the two best teams at this point here. What's your message to the teams? I mean, to your team, I should say. Going in, there's going to be 20,000 people there. What do you say to calm them or to get them ready for a game of this magnitude? Well, not too much. You know, we try not to deviate from what we do. I think at this age of their careers, the more you change things, they get unsettled and they get off script a little bit.

18:29So, you know, we're just going to state of what we do and play vertical and get north. That's for emotions. Like, that's all part of it. I think we're past that. You know, playing in a tough game all over time last night. You know, we played, we think the toughest schedule in the state. You know, you got to get through a dyna a couple times. And why is that idea? Our whole conference we're trying to allow it. And we won that conference, you know, pretty outright this year. And feel really confident that that prepared us. And then our section, final game and my finals are just as equally as intense. So, we've seen full halces before. We've seen, you know, a lot of noise. And hopefully we won't be too distracted tonight. More than 150 wins behind that skipper's bench in your ninth season there with Minnetonka. Uh, you've coached a ton of hockey. So too is John Amerman. Therefore, the more head spots, it can take us behind the curtain a little bit. What is the state of coaching in the state of Minnesota these days in your mind, Sean? Well, I just think the level of play is just a really, really high end.

19:29You know, I've written in a John Harrington at the women's final four on Thursday afternoon. I took a watch my daughter and John and I were laughing in the concourse and he said, he's gold. I just, I just don't know if I'd even be able to play. And I said, John, the level of play that the players have always been here. But it just seems like the depth of high school hockey up and down. It's just, it just keeps getting better. I tell you what, like the community of these models working really well in Minnesota. If you get outside of our little cocoon here and you get nationally, or even if you just get in other areas of North America, everybody keeps pointing to our model. And I think we just have to stick to it because in every community, you have a good coach in every community. You have, you know, a top power play of, you know, a couple centers. You have some defense that play 20 minutes a night and a number one goal. And I think eventually we just get to showcase what we do. And that's probably what I'm most proud about is when we can put together a state tournament team

20:29and get here and showcase what a community based model looks like. It's, it's, it's just awesome. Yeah, we're doing it right in Minnesota. And it's not right in other areas of the country. Like you said, you mentioned high elite top talent. I don't want to take you away from the moment at hand because you've got a game to prepare for tonight. But there is other hockey going on in the world, including in the national hockey league. They just completed the NHL trade deadline. And you already alluded to this kid in Bobby Brink helped you bring a title to Minotaka in 2018. And Shawnee's coming home. He's going to be a member of the Minnesota Wildmead as a wild debut last night. What do you remember about Bobby Brink? And what are the wild getting in this kid now, uh, X amount of years later and I was a pro? Well, we, we saw him at the beginning. Um, you know, I can, I can tell you this. He's, he's in the elite town. He's in the lead hockey sense. Um, it took me about maybe 30 minutes in the first practice to realize that he was going to be a special player and they have a brain that can play in NHL. And I just think the rest of this game had to kind of come together.

21:30And it certainly didn't left right left here and went to Denver and then moved on. So Bobby, Bobby's just an awesome person. First and foremost, he loves hockey. Um, I would imagine he's watching highlights right now and trying to get settled. But he just enjoys hockey and being a great teammate. Um, you know, I, we have some really fun memories. I mean, he's just got a quick wit to him. He's a great locker room guy. Um, just everything about Bob is, is going to settle in really well. And I think once he does, I think the wild are going to be really happy with him. I don't know if you heard the quotes from Bill Gehr. And he was asked about him coming home and playing for the hometown team. He says, that's great. He's here to work. He can have his buddies and his parents and his friends. Stay away from Goldie. Go to the ticket. The box office. Tell Sean Goldsworthy. Go get his own tickets. You're here to work. You're not here to take friends on Lake Minotanka. We're, uh, we're certainly not going to distract Bob. And he doesn't seem to listen to the noise he never did. Yeah. Uh, if you grew up in the Brink Hall, sold with Andy around.

22:30I don't think he's got a lot of deviate either. So I was kind of a little bit of a reserved person. Uh, you know, I said he's got quick wit, but he's above the noise. He's, he's certainly coming back to try to go in a Stanley pop. He's not coming back to Minotanka. Well, love it. We look forward to seeing Bobby Brink in a wild uniform again. But we're really looking forward to the showdown at sunrise tonight. Grand Casino Arena between the skippers and the spuds. Have the time of your life there, Sean. And thanks for doing this here on a game day. Appreciate it, guys. Yeah. Really, really thankful for the opportunity to kind of a showcase high school hockey in this area. We're the head coach for the Minotanka skippers. 150 plus wins behind the bench there for the section 2. It's really a chance. Seventh trip to state their Patrick and their two time champs. They won it with Bobby Brink in 2018.

23:31They did it again in 2023. And they got their work cut out for them. If they're going to get it done in 2026, Minotanka is good. More heads pretty darn good as well. Yeah. You know, you can play during the regular season. And this game is different, Kevin. Just like any any championship game. You get you get to this game and you don't know the nerves of the kids. You know, it's different. It's so much different than the regular season, but it regardless. A tons of talent going to be a great game. I couldn't handicap, but I think two to evenly match teams, which which it should be in a championship game. So it should be should be great. Yeah. For sure. And we'll get more into that with Tony Scott later on in the youth hockey hub. And I'm sure more when we get ready for the high school hockey tournament, the championship Saturday, the class 80 title game coming up at noon. And then later on tonight at seven o'clock, it'll be those skippers and spuds. You can hear it on KFA and the plus. Let's take a break. And then when we continue, we'll turn our attention to the NHL.

24:33We've got a big match up coming up tomorrow in Denver, the wild taking on the avalanche, the first place Colorado avalanche. And they're heating up again. They've won four straight. They got a rally last night. They got the victory in the shootout. So why don't we take a break, Patrick? And then we'll talk to Mark Moser. They play by play boys. My question. When weren't they on a heater? They did take a little bit of a dip though. You know, going into the Olympic break. I mean, a little bit. No, they lost more than that. But there was a time where we thought, would they ever lose again? Yeah. I mean, they had like one regulation loss at ball arena for a good chunk of the year. The Avalanche tie at an end of getting both points via the shootout. And the guy calling that that highlight was a man by the name of Mark Moser. Play by Play Voice. Long time. Play by Play Voice of the Colorado Avalanche. Moser. That's Pat Nicoletti. I'm Kevin Falness. Thanks for taking time out of your busy Saturday. I know who you are. I wasn't last night. You guys got the late goal. You guys. The Avalanche scored late, ended up pushing past regulation. Look like, you know, we talk all the time about heavyweight battles. We got one coming up tonight to the boy state high school hockey tournament. But when you talk about the top two teams in the central division. Colorado and Dallas going toe to toe. It looked like it lived up to the billing. Wait, wait a second. Don't answer yet. Mark, I apologize that you have to endure this.

26:36I appreciate it. No problem. I just thought I'd let you know it's not me. Mark, it's not me. Okay. Now you can answer the question. I know exactly how you feel you do what you can on a daily basis. I do it every week. Yes. With this guy. Exactly. Okay. Go ahead. Honestly, real quick before the game last night. Man, I saw that there were like thousands and thousands of people trying to get standing in the moment. Pickups to the high school hockey tournament. That's awesome. Man, that looked really crazy, really cool. I tell you, Mark, like I said, the championship game is tonight at seven for the double A. That's the big schools. The single A will be at noon. I'm not sure what to expect for the single A. It'll be a good crowd, but I'm guessing there's going to be standing room only 20,000 people at Grand Casino Arena for the tilt between Minotalk and Moorhead tonight. And Mark, just to give you some perspective, there have been season ticket holders to this tournament that have had them for over 30, 40 years.

27:39Some. It's crazy. There is a waiting list for season tickets of over 12,000 people. I mean, that's a popular. This tournament is year in and year out. Yeah. It's awesome. I was just on the plane last night. I saw that line and I'm like, good God. I said addition to the people who are already in the building. So good luck to everybody. I'm sure it's going to be awesome there in St. Paul. You guys that you heard me last night getting crazy. Obviously that goal by the two skim with under 14 seconds left. And they put a second back on something like that. But I just think it's probably indicative of how important it is to finish number one in the stupid division. Yeah. You know, I mean, it's an absolute blood bath. And listen guys, I don't know how you feel about it. I know that things are cyclical, but you know, but it's hard for me to stomach, you know, two of the best teams in the league going ahead and around number one and one of them being knocked out.

28:39Now, again, on purpose, this is not like, hey, you know, an eight came up in bitter one or a seven bit or two or something like that. You know, a team got goalie for six games or whatever it may be. You know, you're purposely trying to bounce a team out. It's hard. I think for any fan base that loses in that first round, like the last two to Dallas and that game seven. And you know how good both those teams are both those teams could perhaps go all the way. It's tough. And Minnesota's really, really good. So if you're an avalanche fan, cheer the avalanche themselves. You desperately want to stay in that number one spot. So getting an extra get me getting a point last night in the game, that extra point inside the shootout was absolutely critical because this division, the top three teams are bonkers. The three, you know, three of the best if not these three best teams in the entire league. Hey, Mark, let me ask you this. You know, we all know how good a player, Nathan McKinnon is. You know, arguably could be num, you know, could be the best player in the world.

29:41It depends who, you know, what what a person's feelings are on. And David and celebrity and whoever else you want to throw in there. But, but my question is it just seems to me like when I watch you guys and I watch Nate that he just seems like such an unbelievable leader that, you know, and I don't know what it is about him, but it just seems like everybody on that team just feeds off of what he does and how hard he works. And all that is, would that be a fair assessment to say he is just, he's a phenomenal leader. Absolutely. I want, I think that honestly to me, it's more like his, his pure focus on winning. Yeah. It's something to behold. You know what I mean? Yeah. It's impressive. And I think if you're on the avalanche or you come to this team, you can't help. I mean, you've got your own habits, you're on whatever's.

30:42Yeah, but you can't help but, but, but glean things that, that make him so good and put in the work. Yeah. I mean, it's, it's everything encompassing, you know, his entire life to try and win. Don't be time for boating and, you know, I mean, I'm sure listen, I'm, I'm, he, he enjoys life. Don't give me wrong. I'm sure. But, but right now he wants to win, you know, and he desperate to do that. And, you know, whatever comes with it, whether it's a heart or whether it's a rocket or, you know, whatever comes with that, it's incredibly valuable to have a guy like that on the team. And I know other teams have had that and you'll die see how they operate, but it makes them so good. Well, they're naturally God given talented. So that, that's one thing. But then to be the best, I mean, there's a lot of talented guys have seen come through this week, boys. And you have two and you're like, man, this guy could have been a top 15, top 10, maybe top 20 player of all time. He just wanted to win, you know, or he wanted to win bad enough, I guess, but this guy desperately wants to win.

31:42So yeah, you know, and then if James speaks for itself, he's so powerful, you know, he had just attacked the ice like crazy. And, and the production is there, you know, every night, every night. It's a nightly thing. Yeah. He just keeps going and going and going. Do you see extra? Sorry, Pat. I just said you talk about McKinnon. Was he extra salty coming back from the Olympics? I know our version of it. We've got three Americans on the Minnesota wild roster. You got Brock Nelson over there, but it felt like McKinnon took that exceptionally hard. The Canadians falling short and over time to the Americans and especially missing the wide open net. I was, I'm just wondering if that put a burr under his saddle and we're getting an extra angry version of Nathan McKinnon. Well, there's always some sort of a focused angry version of McKinnon on the ice kev. It made me have. I mean, it very well may have. I don't, I don't notice anything different about him in terms of his demeanor or his crap or his game on the ice for the abs. But golly for those guys. You know, you, you try to think, you know what, just a couple of Canadians that have ever played the Olympics before.

32:44Everybody else is brand new and they desperately want to win. And, you know, our guy Devon Dave stopped by, you know, the hell about the paddle there and they go on and so on. So I'm sure, I'm sure it's things. You never know how many kicks of the can you're going to get. You know what I mean? You just, I guess you just never know what the future is going to hold. So if you can't get it done at that particular time, then it's painful. But we do have a gold medal on the abs and Brock Nelson, the warrored native. And he kicks in major butt. So, you know, eight guys, once he, the Olympics, guys came home with a medal. That's pretty darn good. Hey, I want to go back to the leadership and I'm just always curious. Do you think a lot of what Nathan took or has learned to as a leader came from Sydney Crosby? Because their friendship is very tight as we all know growing up in the same area and such. How much of that do you think he has learned from Sydney Crosby?

33:47I think probably a lot of that. And again, you're talking about one of the greatest of all time in your good friends. Plus you have one in your room. I can't tell you guys what Gabriel and Scott means to this hockey club. And you know, he's now got Dully. I think 13 points is last 13 games. So he's starting to heat up. He had that injury in early January, but back to time for the Olympics. He's playing really good hockey, but you know, the kind of perseverance. But what he is as a leader in the room out of the room around the guys, you know, on the ice. I think you can't help over all these years, but to have some osmosis go. You know what I mean? Not only to Nate, but to Kale and everybody else around. And these guys are all individually, I think, pretty on the ball, dudes. But for a guy like me to be, you know, around probably sitting all the time. But, but, you know, you learn how to be a pro, I think, because he was a, you know, a young guy coming into the league. And he was a young hot shot and so on. And he found his game back waiting in late October of 2017.

34:50That skyrocketed him to superstar them. And it's just the way I think you handle yourself. You handle everything. You handle the media. You know, you have a balance in life. And I think it's probably a really healthy good thing because it's just simply one of the best. It's simply one of the best I've ever seen as a player and as a leader. And good. Good. Good for having expanded. If anything is rubbed off on date, it's only in a positive way for sure. Take us to the NHL trade deadline from the Avalanche standpoint. A couple of bodies. I was wondering when you were going to get to that. Well, we got it. It only took an hour and 20 minutes. Well, well, let's get into it. Nazum Codri is once again a member of the Colorado Avalanche. Plus, you add Nick Law. How have the Avalanche evolved in the last 48 hours? Kevin, it's huge. I mean, look at the middle. I mean, you've got McKinnon one. Nelson two. What? Dadry three. War four. Do you move a lot of the way and keep Jack Dury at the four? I mean, up the middle, you are as stacked as any.

35:52I mean, you're more stacked in any team in the league right now. You're just, I mean, maybe you're stacked with the weightiest guys you're playing. As there's any group of ever seen. You know, I mean, it's pretty. It's pretty incredible. You were here at a time. Of course, when Sackick, you know, was a one-seed. And Farmsburg was in the middle as well. And you're like, wow, it's pretty, pretty awesome. But I mean, this is, you know, this is, this is a really deep team up to God. And I look at Cadre and I look at the production of him in Calgary. And I think we all can see that when you come back to a team like the Avalanche, I just think that it's going to be better. Same with Nick Wah, who had a real dip this year, being dealt to the Toronto Maple Leafs. But I just think that's more of a symptom of the teams they were on as a whole, rather than where their game is. So I know that Ab's fans are incredibly happy. If he nods in Calgary back, he was an unbelievably good player when they won the Cup in 22. And even before that, he stoked to be back. The guys in the room are incredibly happy to have him back.

36:53So this is, you know, this is, this is a big deal. And, you know, I think it all started honestly, guys, when Billy Garen goes and gets Quinn Hughes, that's gigantic. I mean, that's an earth-shaking type of situation in the West. And especially in the Central Division, because he is one of the best on planet Earth. And so when you go and you get him, and the wild improved by a goal per game, and they keep winning and winning, you're like, okay, you know, they believe they can do it. It's almost like an arms race, you know, and Dallas gets Tyler Myers, and they get bumped in and they do everything what they could do. But nonetheless, this is an incredibly tough division. And so when that first deal goes down in December, you have time, but you're, I'm sure you're thinking yourself, we wanted to improve it anyway at the deadline or before the deadline. And holy cow, they just got Quinn Hughes. So you got to do something. And he's a stud. We all know what a stud he is. And it's going to be just what he's required a long time, dude. I mean, like I said, how long is the, you know,

37:54the central going to be like this teams? I guess we'll go up and down a little bit. But I don't another five, six, seven years. I don't know. You know, these guys to play well into their mid 30s now. So there's a long way to go a lot of runway. Ultimately, you know, when it comes down in the playoffs, it's a goalie stealing a game. It's making a unbelievable save to let you win a game or whatever. How comfortable are you with the abs goal tending situation? And what do you think in the West has the best goal tender that could potentially steal a series? Well, you know, that's a great question. It's part of the abs are concerned. You know, when you look back when they won in 22, Darcy Kemper wasn't the best goalie on the planet, but he didn't have to be. Right. There's plenty of, plenty of offense, plenty of, you know, guys in front of him are playing great hockey. And I think that that wedge wood and blackwood are better.

38:55Now, we can do blackwood had a difficult night last night. No doubt about it. But when you look at their numbers, there are two of the top five goals against the entire league. Both safe percentages are in the 19s. And they're just both really, really good. You know, they support each other. They both want that. I'm sure. But it's, you know, they're just both really good goalies. And I think that that you've seen at the past, where maybe teams played different in front of one goalie as opposed to another. Oh, yeah. And even whether it's conscious or not, you're like, hey, man, we can't attack like we normally will. We got to, you got to help our guy out here. The team plays at the same in front of both these guys. And they go, go, go. So I think the abs are incredibly comfortable. Listen, what you guys have there in Minnesota is pretty damn good to me. You know, and I'm sure by the way, did not play very well last night. Abs beat in glovehand on more than one occasion, but he's great as we know. So I don't know. I just think these three teams are the best. I mean, I look at the one to punch in many semi the abs.

39:55And in case you dismiss, by the way, has a goal against average that to the top five in the league is a backup in Dallas. So it's like, holy crap. What, what don't these teams have at this point, right? Yeah. Talking to Mark Moser, play by play voice of the Colorado. Avalanche while they're at ball arena tomorrow, pregame at 12 45 puck traps just after one o'clock, right here on the fan with Joe O'Donnell and Alex Steylock calling all the play by play action. As we were getting ready to talk to you, Moser told Pat, you know, this Avalanche team is heating up again. And he said, well, did they ever cool off? I think it's fair to say coming into the new year from into 2026. They sputtered a little bit, right? I mean, they had two regulation losses going into January 1st. And now believe me, they're running away with the division. They're running away with the conference and everything else. But they did cool off a little bit. Does it feel safe to say that they're finding their traction again? Yeah, I think so. Dallas went through that. I know you guys had a little bit of a skid there too.

40:55Yeah, but it was coincided. It was coincided, Kevin, with Devon Taves got hurt in Carolina. And then the very next night, landed Scott toe picked at full speed and crams into the net, right? So he's out for a month. So both of those guys missed a month. And I think it coincided with that. That's that's part of it. So you're missing, you know, two incredibly key players. Naturally, I think you're going to, you know, you're going to hit some skids sometimes. How do you maintain that kind of play in that focus? You know, for 82 games. I think it's humanly impossible. That's another thing. Plus, I can't tell you how many times the power play has had an opportunity to tire win a game. And they, they don't do it. You know, the power play before the Olympic break was the worst in the league. And it's crazy. It's crazy for a team that's by far. And I say by far the best five on five team in the league in terms of goal scored and goal differential and all three periods and so on. It's the power play. It's been a real bug.

41:55But that being said, since the Olympic break had been pointed in. So yeah, I think they've, I think they found their, you know, they're footing there a little bit. You know, the high scoring team in the league at about four goals per game. They just got a lot going for them. And now the train deadline is over and everybody can sort of take a deep breath and focus on the task at hand. It's all systems going. I think part of that too is a team that's been there and done that for the most part with that leadership group. So they, you know, they know at what level they need to be at and when they need to be at that level. Okay, Mark. Kevin says I have one question, one more question for you. But I actually have two. Okay. Okay. Cool. But we have to have you don't let him run the show. Oh, I know. I just, I, I'm a cog in the wheel. Whatever Kevin says I do. Okay. Okay. Question and question are really, you know, I don't know. How do you even fridge land a stock? Okay. Great leader, great player.

42:55How he came back from what he went through. Can you walk us through that? And, you know, I mean, it was just, I, I thought he was done. I think everyone thought he was done. And here he is. And he's playing at such a high level. I mean, yeah. Talk. What a game. You know, when you come into the season and he hadn't played steady hockey for three years, last year, in the first round he played, you know, five years. He was adrenaline. Yeah. And you're in the post season. Okay, fine. But then you got to get back to, you know, regular hockey. Hey, you know, game practice day. Yeah. This round. You're leaving town. You're leaving, you know, the wife and kids at home. And, but, you know, it's all that stuff. Then you're playing a regular NHL schedule in the back to back start to come because it's an Olympic year. So it wasn't the hottest that starts for him. What he's playing really well right now. And he's playing that North South game in front of the net game that, that he is so good at. God, I'm not, I didn't know how to describe it. I mean, it was three years off the ice. No guys ever come back and played NHL hockey from this, you know, and, and, uh,

43:59uh, Lonzo Ball was doing it in the NBA, but it, you know, and they were about five weeks apart, I think, with their surgeries. But every time he kept trying to come back, you know, they would bother him again. And so on. And finally, you get down. I think to the realization that if you want to have any shot at coming back and being a true NHL player, you've got to have this surgery. So they take the neopart. They scrape out all the old, uh, you know, the, all that old cushion stuff on the inside. You know, the car was replacement. And then they put a dead guy in there, right? So from what I understand, it's, it's not just any dead guy. Like if Kevin killed over tomorrow, they couldn't just, you know, take me. All right. It's just not. It's got to be. I don't know. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Join the club, Kevin. I think we both know that. Uh, no, but, you know what I mean? It's got to be the right contours. It's got to be physically a match and got to be, you know, everything's got to be a match. It's, uh, and then you got to put the leg back together and then you got to rehab that leg.

44:59And then you've got to, you know, hope there's no pain and so on and so forth. I mean, I think the odds of success of having a normal life and being a dad and basically with your kids and, you know, Jeb's king. I mean, that, that was probably 99%. But being an NHL player, you know, it's the way I look at it now. I'm not, you know, nobody's worried about the knee anymore because it's, it's basically like it's a new knee. Yeah. You know, you put, you put the car looks back in there and, you know, it's a new knee. So it's not, I mean, any injury to that knee would be like a new injury. It's not going to re-injure the old, the old situation. So it's been remarkable. I mean, it's been crazy. And, you know, we've been here every step of the way, but to watch and be able to come back. I don't know how many guys would have the determination to do that. I mean, three years off the ice and say, eh, I'm going to keep on going. I think a lot of guys probably wouldn't just hung it up, but he wanted to keep going in for another opportunity. And because he loves the game and he's been a huge factor. I mean, when you look at the record with him in and out of line of this year, it's massive.

46:01It's really, really important. Okay, next one, we talked about the av's moves. What did you think of the wild moves? I know Billy Gehran, the big thought here was trying to acquire a number one center. Wasn't able to pull that off, but he brought in some pieces. McCarran from Nashville, bring from Philadelphia. And Nick Polino reunited with his brother, Marcus. You know, what are your thoughts on what the wild did as we move closer to the playoffs? Well, I think the huge thing to sit everything in motion. I mean, that was a brilliant move by Billy Gehran, who I think is an excellent GM. And then he's getting Nick Polino in in him, McCarran. These guys are so tough to play. Yeah, right. I mean, I don't know how it felt for wild fans watching McCarran play the wild when he was in Nashville. But you got this gigantic human being whose motor is always going.

47:01You're like, are you serious? Yeah. This guy, I mean, and what are not he's producing? It doesn't really matter because he noticed him on the ice. Right. But the wild fans. Let me tell you. You know what I mean? Yeah. The wild fans will think if he doesn't score two, three, four goals, you know, it's going to be, oh, what do we get this guy for? And not seeing the picture. No, he affects the game in ways and everything needs guys like that. They affect the game in ways that maybe won't show up on the score sheet. He's that guy. Nick Polino is that guy. I'm sure he and his brother are going to love playing together. And you know, honestly, Bobby, you know, I, I like him. He's obviously a former D you pioneer. So I'm always going to root for those guys and everybody there in Minnesota knows how good former D you pioneer is all right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That was always fun beating them. Anyway. We can, we can figure and have a conversation all day about the old WCHA. Yeah. What the flipping big 10 actually went to a big 10 conference. Yeah.

48:01All that pisses me off. Yeah. That was the best conference in college talking by a mile. Yeah. Don't pick that scam. I really like what those guys bring to Minnesota, which is why it's, it's just going to be so tough. I mean, I think from my perspective, having lived it last year and even before, you know, you know, you got to finish one and let two and three just beat the snot out of each other through seven games because it's a very unenviable, unfun position to be. And when you have two of the best teams going ahead to head and round number one, it's just it's it's really, really hard. I know you've got to get through every week. It's not good for the lead. Yeah, pretty crazy stuff. Hey, I know you're on the television tomorrow, so I'm sure you're going to start putting your makeup on now. I apologize. You don't have that. I understand. I know what I'm getting into. Yeah, put your waiters on you and you head in, you know, absolutely. You're a good man. 51:11While General Manager Bill Gehrin, I'm talking about one of the many moves that he made over the last few days, brings in Marcus Filino's brother Nick Filino, the trade with the Chicago Black Cocks. Second hour continues here for Beyond the Pond. Trying to track down Nick's brother Marcus, and if we can track him down, we'll throw him on the line. Would you think of that move in particular, Pat? Let's go through some of the moves. The wild made of the trade deadline. Haven't even been able to talk about him. Yeah. Other than through Mark Moser. So let's start with that one. Nick Filino, now a member of the Minnesota wild. Well, you find out what kind of person he is. Well, first of all, you know what type of guy Marcus is. Wonderful, wonderful person, wonderful family. And I saw the interview that Nick did on, you know, with butcher grass in Ferraro yesterday. And I tell you, I mean, you want to talk about class professional, you know, a guy that wants to win, that knows how to win, that knows what it takes to elevate your team.

52:14And we'll do whatever it takes. Well, sounds like Marcus, right? And to have not, you know, not only Marcus, but Nick now, I think it that move in particular was, I thought a tremendous move. Yeah. I mean, a character guy and give him an opportunity to chase the cup. I'm excited to see those two in action. Once, you know, Marcus gets off the shelf and back healthy and ready to roll, that'll be pretty neat. Bobby Brink. Yep. I got to see him last night for the first time. Yeah, I did not see the game, Kevin, you know, obviously I was working, but, um, you know, he's a, he's a really talented kid. I mean, you're going to top six, Patrick. Yeah. Marcus, Joe Hanson, not available. So he's skated with, uh, Juleric Sineck and Matt Boldy on the, uh, quote unquote, so how they played. Did you watch or? Well, yeah, watch. Yeah. No, I mean, look, I mean, it's one your radio though, you know, but well, Joe described it real neat. Yeah, I'll put it that way. Okay. I think he looked good and, you know, and, and we'll get into McCarran

53:18here in a minute. I thought he had more of an impact, of course, on the game, but Bobby Brink, I think is going to be another one low cost. You're, you're giving up, David, you're a check, which you, you gave a lot to get him into a wild uniform. Yep. Yeah. And then basically you, you trade him to Philly in exchange for Bobby Brink. Um, you know, he rolled the dice here. He's a former second round pick back in 2019 by the flyers and a kid that's got a ton of upside and especially plays in your top six. Wow. Yeah. You, you put him with, um, with some good players. I think he can, I think he can produce and, you know, you listen, when you, and why like the most Kevin is that as you go into the playoffs, you know how banged up a lot of these guys are, you know, going into it, um, during the playoffs and, and to have extra bodies around, um, I think is going to be so important, uh, to winning and going on. People don't understand how difficult it is to win the Stanley Cup and, and, and winning 16 games and battling every night.

54:23And so, uh, the more depth you can have in your lineup is, is, is, is better for you. Before we move on to the other moves, uh, again, you send Bobby Brink, you get Bobby Brink from Philadelphia, send David Eurocheck the other way, uh, disappointing that didn't work out. I think they had high expectations, uh, hope more than anything for what he could develop into. And, you know, as Garen said yesterday with the addition of Quinn, who he was, he probably just got boxed out more than anything. Both out of doubt. And, you know, sometimes you, you have to make those moves. I, I, I give Bill, Bill Garen a lot, a lot of credit because, you know, what, um, G your check is probably an NHL player. Eventually. Well, he probably is now. Okay. Um, I, I, I truly believe that. It just wasn't going to happen with this team. So it wasn't going to happen with this team. So he said, you know what, I'm not going to, you know, waste this kid and, and I want to give him a chance. And he's going to get a chance. And Philly, there's no question about it. So,

55:28um, I, I like that from a human perspective for your, your, your check. And, you know, he's, he's got a lot of potential. There's no question about it. So the other big move that they made at the deadline, uh, bringing Michael McCarrion, I take it, you don't think your check is a NHL player. No, I'm not saying that. I think what he did, he just did. He, no, I said eventually. I, I said not now. And that's, that's what we're talking about. And that's why he was in Iowa. Um, and, and that and the fact that he couldn't, you know, overstep any of the top seven that are currently up here. Yeah. I think the, the future, uh, it should be bright for David. You're a check. The problem is that foot speed. That's the thing that I know in the NHL. You can't fake that. And he's got a world class shot. Yeah. I mean, the kids got a hammer. Yeah. But he can't skate on an NHL level. And I think that's the part that's going to be trouble for him. So we'll see what happens. Yeah, we'll go from there. Um, but I did want to talk about Michael McCarrion. Like I said, it had a big impact on the game last night. Six foot six, 232 pounds. A guy that can win face-offs.

56:32He can also play the wing. Uh, he can kill penalties. And he's a tough guy. And you, you want to have a guy in the shadows when someone takes a run at a Brock favor, a map boldly, uh, Carole Caprice, have a Quinn Hughes. You better think twice when you got a guy six foot six, two hundred and 32 pounds, uh, patrolling your, your, your bench. Yeah. And, and, and I hope the wild fans, um, understand he was not in, he was not brought in to be a, um, offensive juggernaut for you. He can contribute. No question about it. But, you know, I go and do, you know, last year, which drove me crazy about, uh, Brazil, right? Yeah. Oh, man. Yeah. Oh, he's got a score, you know, this that amount. And then, you know, and he's terrible. Well, you know, he's had a pretty good year in Pittsburgh this year, by the way. Yeah. And, and so, and so, but guys are brought in for a reason to do a certain job. And, um, and this kid, um, McCarrion is brought in for the

57:38reasons that you eloquently stated, good penalty killer. Wind straws is tough, can skate. And so that's, that's why you, you know, that's how you build a championship team. And, um, and so, uh, I just saw wild fans understand that. Yeah. So, and the other move was Jeff Petri. I, I'm not sure how much playing time he'll get. I guess he, he, as you can play this year. I don't know. I got to look at his, uh, he was hurt. I know. I mean, wasn't he hurt? Uh, I don't know. Uh, I'll look it up. And I don't think he sees the ice, unless something unforeseen happens, uh, to the top group, because I think, you know, and I know Mosul loves his Colorado. I have a lunch and there's an argument to be made who's got the deeper blue line, but I don't know one through six that there's a better blue line in the national. I agree with you. What the wild have put forth. So I, I agree. And, and Petri, I'm sure he's a heck of a guy, but unless something tragic happens, I don't think he sees a lot of ice time between now and whenever

58:39the, uh, wild season comes to a conclusion, uh, you know, we had been speculating a lot about what the wild were going to do in and around the trade deadline. Um, I, I, I thought it was just a matter of time before Vinnie Trollcheck ended up on, on Minnesota. Sounds like, uh, they were asking a, the, Chris Tury apparently was asking a little bit too much for the return. Yeah. I, I, I think so. And, and, and, you know, the, the big carrot out there was just for what? Yes. How do you pronounce it? You do it again. No, I don't have to see you can tort your face when you say ball stead. Oh, yes, yes, per. Yes, per. Yes. Ball stead. Yes, per. Ball stead. Ball stead. That's right. Okay. I want to get it correct. I don't want to call them wall stead. No, you prefer you call it. I call them the brick. A great wall of same plow. There you go. Couple of bricks missing with this. So I, you know, he was never going to be involved in the, in the Ranger deal. I mean, there's no reason for that to happen when they have the best goalie in the world in Chesterkin. So, uh, I, you know, and I don't know what, what, hey, you were floating

59:43out something that maybe Chesterkin would be involved in the deal. Well, uh, no, here's where your Twitter feed has said something about it. If he's available, don't you get him? Here's what I tweeted, and I got hammered for it. And I, and, and I'll stick to it. I'm, if, if Chesterkin was made available, not just to us out there, right? Yeah. I think any team in the league would be crazy, except for probably Tampa and, uh, who else? Anyway, um, any team would be crazy not to see if they could get him. Yeah. And I'm one of them. Because what do you win within the, in the playoffs, Kevin? Yeah. A hot gold tender. And someone said, well, we need a face off guy more than a goalie. Well, that very, well, you know, our goalies are fine. I have no issues with our goalies, but you, but they're not the number one gold tender in the world. And if you can get that,

1:00:47can you imagine if, if he was the gold tender for the Minnesota wild, do you know the fear that that would put in other teams in the league with what we have? Oh my God. And so I'm just saying, if he was out there, I bet you my bottom dollar that Bill Guerin was said, I'm going to make you an offer for him. Yeah. That's all I'm saying. And if, if some butts were candy and nuts, everyday would be Christmas, you can use that one. I appreciate that. I do see where I'm going. I do. I do see where you're there. I get you. I'm not saying I don't like a gust or wallstead. I think they're great. And they've been great. They're playing great. But we're talking a level that is above that. What I thought is if there was a big move to be made, maybe wallstead would be involved, but I was pretty sure, Charlie Stremel's, um, days as a member of the Minnesota wild organization would be numbered. And, and going on Thursday and witnessing that blow out at 3M arena at Mary Uchi, that's the one thing I started looking at as that game were on 5-1 became 6-1 became 7-1. Uh, he's legit. What, what did you see from that two game set? And, and actually watching him as he continues to develop on the college scene. Man amongst boys. That's very close to being ready to play in the National Hockey League. Very close. I talked to Adam Nightingale, their head coach, uh, before the game. And he flat out told me, Charlie Stremel is the best player in college hockey. And I don't know if I could disagree with him. Um, really? He's, he can, you know what? He's big and strong. He doesn't lose draws. And he can skate. And he's

1:02:49got a nose, uh, a IQ of the game. That is off the charts. Um, man, I, I can see why other team told to want him. I mean, what? When you talk about, if you were to ask me, um, let's say, okay, they're, they're, they're set one, two, three of the middle. And you needed a fort, the fourth line guy. Um, and it was between Sturm and him or whatever. Yeah. He's, he's in, he's in my lineup. Interesting. Yeah. Imagine, imagine saying that three, four years ago that this was going to be the trajectory of this kid because he was buried. And he has that change. 1:04:53Hi, Tony. You sound very reserved. This is going to be the hardest to stop. This is my hardest to sign. And maybe of the year is doing this entire thing with that of a team, the state final. How are we going to do this, Kevin? Well, I think we're going to be talking a lot about him and would be my first guest. Tony, I'm a good guest. I'm very reserved. I'm, you know what? I am, I'm just I'm excited for what I believe will be an excellent game today. How's that for you? These are my two favorite kids, you know, from the from the northern Minnesota throwing a little wrap. Me and me and who me and who they play the game the right way. Me and who don't gather. It's a fun. It's going to be a greatest game of the year. That's it. I'm a kid. I'm a kid at heart. You're not a kid. You're the opposite of a kid. I'm a kid at heart. Are we talking about this once and brothers? Well, you name it. We could talk about all of Gavin Anderson, the hot front brothers, uh, would it already work in both these teams? 1:05:55matchup today. How about this one? And I'm getting a little pushback and I might be a little bias, but I think the best player in the tournament is Whitaker Rewards. He's so good. Man, you read my notes, Pat. You read my notes, aren't you? Well, I've read 11 points in his last six games. And those aren't easy games. The kids are just really blossomed in the last half of the season. I and I say that because when I look at games, Tony, when I'm analyzing games, I look at guys that are the engine of their team, their offense, what makes that team go? And to me, he's that guy. You know, Gavin Anderson may be that guy for Warro, too, right? And so I think you're right. You know, and, um, and, and, you know, the AA, they're, you know, certainly a number of players, but man, that, that kid reminds me of, um, Scott Perunovitch. That's a, that's a really good comparison.

1:07:01Uh, they, they both played forward or D. Yep. They're kind of all over the place. Uh, with that heard a couple of years ago in the summer and really struggled last year. He played a lot last year, but he didn't get as many minutes as this year. I feel like he's finally coming into his own. And he was one of the best youth players in the state as a, as a P.V. in Bannum. So no one's surprised at the success, but, uh, he's really starting to come on. It's fun to watch. So break down the noon matchup for us. You got Hivin going up against Warrode. What's the strength of Hivin? What's the strength of Warrode? And how do you see that one playing out? And, again, we're going to hear that on the fan starting at 12 o'clock noon on FM 100.3. The fan. Well, I think one of the keys of the game is the goal tending. You know, Lamper's been their goalie all year where Patrick Kennedy's just starting to get his groove on. And I think that's the key to the game. Can Patrick Kennedy match Gavin Lamper both teams to score goals, both team have offensive defense. And it's going to be a fun game. The next year, Hibbing beat Warro in the state's final down in Nualm. And the day before that and the double A semi-final, Joey Cohen goes barred down and double overtime to be the Minotaka. It's just to have this, you know, a dream of chasing the NHL as a young kid and being an NHL as a brother and now having to be on the same team and simply as we've been through, we're both excited. Everyone our family is ecstatic. You know, I say that now. We'll see what it will see when it's like in a couple of weeks when I'm around my brother 24-7, but it's it's awesome. I mean, just

1:15:26a the caliber of person, a player that we got, but the together they go, James and Stanley come together and we'll open the member of one. Marcus, you know, I'm the, you know, knowing you as long as I have and knowing the type of person you are and the type of family. I mean, and then to hear your, I was telling Kevin, I watched the interview that Nick had with with Butchegras and Ferraro yesterday and honestly, God, it almost brought a tear to my eye. Just the class that he has and which would you know all of this? So, but I'm just reiterating it and, you know, I mean, he said, I felt like I left my little brothers in Chicago, young team there, him helping those guys and then him saying, you know what, I'm going to go to Minnesota. I'm going to talk to the coach. He's going to tell me what I have, what what my role is and what I'm going to do and guess what? I'm going to do it and I'm going to do whatever it takes

1:16:26to help Minnesota when when a Stanley Cup. I think that, I mean, it just, it was just awesome, just an awesome interview, you know, and your family speaks for itself and, anyway, those are just my thoughts. No, yeah, no, I, you know, what Nick, you know, Nick's played a long time and, you know, you get, you get the type of leadership and stuff. I mean, we get a lot of our father and watch him have played and have coached mostly and just, you know, we understand that what it takes to win in this thing, you got to be selfless and it takes away a long time and it's been a leader on for a long time now and you get the field of room and we're lucky to kind of have been growing up in a hockey locker room for so long and we understand what it takes and, and, you know, there's a way it can't be about you. It's kind of about the team first and Nick is first me, you know, exemplifies that every day. He's been, he's been through a lot of, uh,

1:17:27screws and situations. He's been in the playoffs for a long time and, and, um, you know, in Chicago recently, he's helped the, uh, he's trying to rebuild and, you know, that's a lot of tough, tough days when you're going through things like that and, and he's done it with positivity and trying to help guy like with the heart and a lot of young kids kind of find the ground in which they have now and, and, uh, he did the point of his career where, you know, it's, it's exciting time to go chase and come and, uh, I'm just fortunate enough to be on a team that has put ourselves in a great position to go do that and to contend and, um, you know, if there was just a no-brainer to come join, join us with me being here and, and doing it together. So, uh, we hope we're, we're, we're really small and big, uh, geocolat the end of the season here. We definitely want to talk about how your team has evolved over the last few months for sure and even over the last couple of days, but the other guys in the room, they, they know what you're all about and I think they have a pretty good idea what Nick is all about, but what are they going to learn about Nick Felino as a teammate now that he puts that wild uniform on? So, I think, you know, first thing, I'm on ice

1:18:30stuff. I mean, Nick, Nick brings it. I mean, he's a very solid player. He, uh, he's physical, he can play a lot of roles and, uh, you know, he's, he's just going to get everything 100% from them. I mean, he can, uh, a little bit of a Swiss army knife now when you come to our team, because, you know, that's, that's what kind of the roles that we have open at depth charges is, I think when we filled with Michael McCarran and Nick and, uh, you know, he's been up for Bobby Fabri and, uh, you know, Bobby Frank, I think it's just a lot of guys that could just play and play in great situations. So, um, you know, you're going to need everyone in the playoffs, and I think that's Billy, you know, preparing for war, and, uh, we know it's not going to be an easier road, right? We got Dallas, the Colorado, and, um, you know, we're just, we're built for him. I think we're mentally built for him. Um, Nick, Nick, uh, you know, plays that right, that way, he plays the right way to achieve the game. Um, you know, he's a physical body that, that, and he's seven games series, um, nowhere on yet. So, uh, that's what you're going to see.

1:19:32And then I'll be honest with stuff that, you know, what made him such a great leader is just how vocal he is. I'll include everyone. I would love to be around the guys and, um, bring that positive edge to the dressing room where it's all about winning. Um, I know he's okay. You go. Well, I know that for one thing's for sure, this, this team has evolved over the last few months. The, uh, blockbuster bring Queen Hughes here has made this a destination. You've been on some good teams here in, in your time with Minnesota, uh, Marcus, you 15 years in the NHL nine now, incredibly, with the Minnesota wild, and you've had some good teams, but you've never been loaded like this going into the post season. How excited are you to get these final, whatever it is, 18, 19, 20 games of the regular season done and get to post season hockey where you guys are loaded for bare man. Yeah, you know what, you said it, um, I've been on, there's, there's been so great teams over my nine years here and, you know, this is, this is a, a team that, yeah, I haven't been on. It's, it's special. It's talented. It's a mentality on it. It's just, um, you know, we hope that we

1:20:38just, you know, be quick and at the right time and go from there, but it is, it is the best team I've been on between Minnesota. And we've always had that work ethic, that kind of culture over, you know, no nonsense. And you come to work, come to, you know, players, players, organizations, always known as a hard work team and team that's never easy night. And, um, but right now, I mean, if you add Quinn Hughes, it changed a lot of things. It changed the dynamic of our offense. It just changed the confidence in a lot of guys knowing you have a guy that can help you get out of a hole and, you know, our goals are playing great. The defense, I think, is probably, probably the defense of course, when you look at mostly is gotta be out there with one of the best of the league. I think if you look at a team that has success, you're gonna look back at the defense and just like, yeah, there's a reason why we, we, but we could do so, um, it's a special group, and we just, we just hope that we can, you know, do some specialists here. Don't get too specific, but I know you're dealing with something here. You're on the sidelines,

1:21:39but if this doesn't motivate you to get, well, fast, I don't know what will, the guy listed as weak to weak. They said it's not season ending, so we will see you at some point. Do you have any type of a timeline, just something for the Moose fan club to hang their hat on? Yeah, you know, if it was up to me, I played it tomorrow, but, uh, so it's, uh, it's just something that's been aggravating me a little bit. It popped up over after Olympic break, unfortunately, just in the kind of a stage we had to get back and, um, just something I need to settle down. So, so much just kind of letting us kind of be the, the machine behind it, all raising all the funds and, um, all for a great cause. I think for us, we just get a really enjoyment of, hey, raising funds, but be bringing out the people that, uh, you know, are battling cancer and going through cancer, going through hard times or family members, stuff like that and having them come to a minister of wild game and getting to meet us and meet them and, and swap some jerseys and, and, uh, we think it's so, it's so exciting being able to do that. So, um, we want to keep this thing going. We want to raise as much funds as we can and, um, it's just, just knowing by default, I, I want this, one of the conversations. You did for the record. And, uh, and now you had the players that they've added. I, I like the makeup. I really like the makeup, Kevin. Yep. It should be fun. Like I said, this guarantee is nothing. The problem is you got the toughest division in hockey. The top three, like we talked about with Mosher, they're monsters. So no matter what you do, you still got to get passed Dallas in the first round. And you probably have to climb the mountain. It is the Colorado avalanche. Um, but still like Kevin said, Kevin, the best team in that they've ever had in franchise history. What? Um, those teams are thinking we have to get through Minnesota. Yep. You're right. I like the upside of a Bobby Brink. And you're really, you know, that you don't get it's not even a gamble. If it works out, great if it doesn't, well, you didn't give up all that much. But I'm actually very excited about Michael McCarran. I know he had a

1:28:01goal in an assist last night, but I like the full package of what he can deliver on that fourth line. Maybe with the Flino brothers at some point, uh, that's the one I'm most excited about, Patrick. Well, I, I, I think that you have to look at it from a perspective of, okay, we didn't get the number one center and quite frankly, uh, it was, was there a number one center out there? I don't think so. So that being said, I'd like to pivot that Billy Garen did. And I think he thought, you know what? We have Capri South. We have Boldy. Uh, we have Hughes. That generates so much offense. And now, you know, to get through the grind of the playoffs, they added some beef. And, but not just beef in itself, beef that can play. That's what I liked about it. All right, a little bit negative. The Eurocheck era was over. What was your favorite David Eurocheck moment? It's, it could, I mean, they gave up a first rounder. They gave it Damon

1:29:01Hunter. They ended up getting back anyways. But a first round pick, I get, you can throw away a second or a third, you know, one's the last time. One of those is really stepped in and been, I mean, Capri soft as the obvious outlier, but throwing away a first round pick for Eurocheck and you get back bring who we like. But do we feel like this is maybe one of the worst, like bottom five moves and Bill Garry's Bill Garen's tenure because he did really well this deadline. But that's a movie look back on go. Yeah, probably wouldn't have done that. Well, you have to look at the, at the time that it happened and what the need was for Minnesota. Let's not forget. Eurocheck was a number six pick overall in that in the draft. So it's not like you're trading a number one for, um, you know, some fifth-throwing pick or whatever or player. So I think their thought process was we can accelerate him and he didn't accelerate to the level that warranted top four minutes, you know, or yeah, yeah, top four minutes. And so, you know, it didn't work out, you know, not every deal is

1:30:06going to work out. And yeah, so I'd echo that. It's unfortunate. Let's not forget to, you know, let's look at it from a Charlie Stremel standpoint. Yeah, remember when they drafted him. Oh, my God, this kid's terrible. Why do you? What a terrible job. Now he may end up being the steal of that draft. So, yeah, I don't know who it was.
