This is betting with Bobby on the horse racing radio network. We're into the stretch of the Florida Derby and Dunkirk has taken the lead on the outside. Quality road battles right back with him. There goes JoJo checked out of the restart. Quality road has come back inside of Dunkirk and he's opening up late. Here is a superstar quality road. What's it? Dunkirk is second. There goes JoJo and stately character. And that's another track record. One minute 47.72 seconds. Now here is Bobby Newman. Good afternoon. Welcome to betting with Bobby here on the horse racing radio network part of Virginia thoroughbred week presented by the Virginia equine alliance. Let's head straight out to Santa Anita Park. Fast and firm conditions. They're going a mile and an eighth on the grass and race one on this Friday card condition claiming event for four year olds and up in for a $30,000 tag. Here's Frank Miramati.

And they're off. The geometry is very quick. So is Jim mint 10 and those two will lead through the stretch the first time. Promecio in third and smooth salute four off the pace in fourth. Empires classic at the back of the field. They string out into single file already with geometry. The favorite in charge leads at a length and a half. Jim mint 10's pretty eager in second and other three. Promecio third. Smooth salute five off the pace and seven or eight more back to empires classic into the first turn Antonio Fresu and geometry. Clear by two lengths. Jim mint 10 remains second. Another three now back to Promecio third for clear of smooth salute. And empires classic is a dozen lengths off the pace geometry onto the back stretch three parts of the length. Jim mint 10 trying to keep him honest and doing just that second. Another two back to Promecio who's been cruising along in third. Four more smooth salute empires classic is underway. He was far back earlier now within seven or eight from geometry.

Geometry into the far turn the controlling speed maintains the two length advantage. Jim mint 10 set down now once again trying to close that gap within a half length of them. Then Promecio in third empires classic smooth salute a quarter of a mile to go and Jim mint 10 is on even terms with geometry. Now they're joined by Promecio who's had the dream trip and he's coming after them now with one furlong to go empires classic angles to the center of the course geometry under pressure. Promecio between an empires classic is rolling down the center of the courts empires classic in full flight after geometry geometry empires classic. Here is the line geometry held on empires classic just miss smooth salute on the photo for third. Unofficially four one two in the opener at Santa Anita number four geometry with Antonio Freysu aboard just holding off the one empires classic and cast Camara who were surging in the late stages but in the end geometry did hold for Jonathan Thomas and Antonio Freysu mile and eight covered in 147 and two geometry was the odds on favorite eight to five on the morning line but four to five at post time and needed.

All his effort to hold on and get the win and the chalk better is rejoicing the opener at Santa Anita geometry unofficially the winner at Santa Anita once again welcome back to another addition of betting with Bobby here on HR and this is Virginia thoroughbred week presented by the Virginia equine alliance in addition to racing from Santa Anita today will be bringing live action from Gulfstream oak lawn fairgrounds and aqueduct and we've got at least 10 minutes or so before our next live race. By the way as we open the show we heard the stretch run of a pretty good Virginia bread in his own right quality road winning the 2009 Florida Derby unfortunately we did not get to see quality road. Try the Kentucky Derby he got hurt after his Florida Derby victory won the fountain of youth he won the Florida Derby that year and he would have been the favorite or certainly one of the two favorites in the 2009 Kentucky Derby but unfortunately he didn't run in that race. Came back in the Amsterdam later that year in August and went on to win that and he was a really good three year old maybe even better as a four year old winning three grade ones the Don handicap which is now known as the Pegasus the Met Mile and the Woodward all in all the Virginia bed quality road who was by elusive quality out of a strawberry road mayor won eight times in 13 career starts for owner Ed Evans and trainer Todd Plescher and quality road just one of many Virginia birds.

Many Virginia bread or Virginia certified runners that we are celebrating all week here on HR and of course a big day tomorrow in the great state of Virginia. It is Virginia Derby day for many many years the Virginia Derby was a race that was won in the run in the late summer early fall during the quote unquote regular meat at colonial downs and it was a turf race for many many years and had some really good turf horses win the race over the years. But Churchill downs which now owns colonial decided that they wanted to change things up and in accordance with the laws in order to have for for every for every I think of one hundred I don't want to call them slot machines because they're technically not slot machine they were the video terminals gaming terminals whatever the proper term is now because none of these. Machines are slot machines they don't spit out coins anymore but for every hundred machines they have to have a race day in Virginia and there are a lot of five thousand machines at colonial or Rosie's gaming which is there so they need to run 50 days during the year they'll have a 47 day meat in the late summer early fall and they have a special three day meat yesterday today and tomorrow all dirt.

Including the half million dollar Virginia Derby which is a mile at an eight for three year olds tomorrow and is a Kentucky Derby points qualifier it's the last 50 pointer on the road to this year's Kentucky Derby so if things go the way they have in previous years whoever wins the Virginia Derby tomorrow will likely have enough points to qualify for this year's Kentucky Derby the Virginia Derby one of I believe five stakes on the card at colonial tomorrow. Tomorrow Bob Nostanovich and I will go over four of those five stakes as part of our am we do weekend stakes preview coming up at six p.m. tonight speaking of the Kentucky Derby Kentucky Derby future pool number five is open the Oaks pool is open as well they opened I think at noon today Derby pool goes through six p.m. on Sunday that's Eastern time Oaks pool I think maybe to six thirty Eastern they've also got that Oaks Derby double future that's something you're interested in. Early on there's only about thirty thousand dollars bet in Derby future pool number five as of right now and the favorite at this point is renegade he was twenty to one on the morning line he's eight to one right now is the Sam F Davis junior winner.

And then both Cherokee nation and chief wallaby are just behind him at nine to one you say well what about the horses who were favored on the morning line paladin was five to one favorite on the lines thirteen to one right now commandment was the second choice at six to one he's up to twelve to one and nearly was the third choice at eight to one he's up at fourteen to one so you're getting decent prices on everyone when the favorites eight to one they're telling you're getting to do some price now this is titled a future. It is not a true future wager like what you're seeing if you go to Las Vegas and make a bet if you make a bet on a anything a future bet in Las Vegas whether it's horse racing or sports or whatever you get the odds at the time of what you bet it. For instance you know if you're betting you know if you if you want to bet let's say the Dodgers to win the world series and they're even money I don't know what the price is on the Dodgers I'm making this up and you want to bet them at even money if you bet them today it doesn't matter what happens the rest of the wagering you get even money if they happen to win the world series same with horses if you bet let's say paladin today in Vegas.

And he's six to one today you get six to one doesn't matter how many more dollars are on or against paladin at whatever racebook you decide to bet at but with this Churchill pool it all depends it all matters on what the final price is six p.m. on Sunday it's a future wager yes but it's a paramutual future you know a future wager in the fact that they are. You know adjusting odds this and that and you know if a big bet comes in on your horse at five forty five on Sunday you don't get the price that you bet them today you get the price the lower price on Sunday of course they can go the other way as well there could be a big bet on somebody Sunday and your eight to one on renegade today could be up to 12 to one on Sunday so it is a future wager it's not exactly the kind that you're used to if you're playing the one. And so unless you have a chain if you want to play these Kentucky Derby future wagers I'm not telling you not to do it but if you have the chance to wait until late afternoon on Sunday that's the better option for you because you have a much better chance of seeing what odds you're going to get it's a little too early now to know where the money is going to go and as I said there's only thirty thousand dollars bet in the pool right now which is not a whole lot.

All right let's take a break when we come back I'll get you paid at San Anita they're on the track for the sixth at Oakland we've got about six minutes there we're about oh I would say 10 minutes away from both the seventh and aqueduct and the sixth fairgrounds we've got Gulf Stream action on the way as well this is betting with Bobby on HR and. You're listening to Virginia thoroughbred week presented by the Virginia equine alliance on HR and forces power Virginia's economy creating over thirty eight thousand good fulfilling jobs every year think about the farmers the fairies the feeders the athletes trainers drivers and jockeys caretakers and landscapers investors and interns veterinarians restaurant owners restaurant workers tour guides trail guides equine therapists and so many more now that's horse power Virginia's economy wins with horses.

And we're live here outside the Perez family home just waiting for the and there they go almost on time this morning mom is coming out the front door strong with a double arm kid carry looks like dad has the bag is bringing up the rear but the diaper bag wasn't closed diapers and toys are everywhere but mom is just nailed the perfect car seat buckle for the toddler and now the eldest daughter who looks to be about nine or 10 has secured herself in the booster seat dead the bag closed and they're off but looks like mom doesn't realize her coffee cup is still on the roof of the car and there it goes. That's a shame that mug was a fam favorite don't sweat the small stuff just mail the big stuff like making sure your kids are buckle correctly in the right seat for their agents eyes learn more at NHTSA.gov slash the right seat visits NHTSA.gov slash the right seat brought to you by Mitza and the ad council.

You're listening to vetting with Bobby on the horse racing radio network. Whitmore's last right now with more at the quarter pole is sixth and last and five and a half links behind smart spree smart spree at the top of the stretch. He has now extended his lead to two lengths from wind time in second will pose in the center with more got to go he's still five links behind and smart sprees inside the

long marker wind time is alongside smart spree going to have to dig down now Whitmore explodes in the center of the track and look at him fly Whitmore has to go and he did wow that is a major league stretch run Whitmore wins the count fleet it is close for second between will bow and wind time. Bigst offer on the call of the 2018 edition of the count fleet sprint at Oclon won by the great Whitmore he actually won that race three times in 17 18 and 20 by the way ran second in 2019 but in 18 not only did he win that race he would go on to run second in the Breeders Cup sprint he would eventually win the Breeders Cup sprint in 2020 on route to being the eclipse award champion sprinter of that year male champion sprinter that is overall Whitmore with 15 career wins from 43 starts banked over 4.5 million dollars in his career and it's nice that they have a state named in his honor tomorrow out at Oclon park welcome back betting with Bobby here on HRRN part of Virginia thoroughbred week all week long presented by the

Virginia equine alliance speaking of Oclon park there about two minutes away from post time for race six on the card at Oclon 70 degrees sunny skies and a fast track at Oclon right now and race six is at six furlongs this is a condition to claiming event Phillies and mayors non winners of two races since November 13th of last year they're in for a 26 thousand dollar claiming price this is a weird condition not just the fact that it's non winners of two races in the last four months but where did they come up with a claiming price of 26 thousand dollars I mean I've seen plenty of 25 thousand dollars claimers every now and then you'll see a 30 certainly 32 26 I'm not sure if I've seen a 26 I wonder what the how they decided that that was the correct number that they should have for this claiming price but that's where they are field of eight going through the

motions of their warm ups for this race two to one favorite at this point is number four promises to dance for this and at Francisco area to promises to dance coming off a second place finish against 30 thousand dollar claimers last time out now in a conditioned 26 thousand dollar claimer I don't even know it sounds like this is a dropping class I don't even know really if it is claimed away from mic maker out of her last start and goes for that's mic makers having a good mate and to put it mildly Wayne Pots is not having a very good meet just two wins I believe from 28 starters at the current meet but picks up hot riding Francisco area to who among other things I think had three wins on yesterday's card and promises to dance certainly off her last effort in fact her last four or five races speed out of five are all good enough to make her at least one of the ones to beat in this spot the six September magic is the

second choice at five to two for Thomas Amos and Ramon Vasquez this one definitely taking a drop in class her last three starts have been against a allowance competition last time she ran for a tag it was on the main track at mainland in for a thirty two thousand dollar tag and she ran second during last falls keenland meet and in general I would think that the racing at keenland is as tough if not tougher than most of the racing that we have in this country so September magic is proven against what maybe tougher that she's pretty good in and around this level and on the dirt third choice is number one tell me when for ray ash for junior and Tyler bacon wire to wire victory against starter allowance competition in her most recent start she is very capable of running back to back good races overall in fact she's won nine times from 29 career stars and she is looks like one way to go and that's right to the lead right off the back so they're going to the gate over at oak lawn after this will head to either aqueduct or

fairgrounds they're both listed as three minutes away from post time fairgrounds rarely gets to the gate right at post time and aqueduct horses are still in the paddock and I don't even see the jockies yet so I don't know if they could possibly get to the gate in three minutes so we'll just have to play it by here and see who wants to go first meanwhile we know that oak lawn is trying to go before both of them they have started the loading process on what is a beautiful Friday afternoon in hot springs Arkansas six furlongs the distance here for ray six on the card fillies and mayors in for a 26 thousand dollar tag you heard that correct favorites remain remain promises to dance September magic and tell me when not necessarily in that order last few are going in here's Matt Dennerman we're ready to go and

larry off from the inside tell me when showing her customary front running speed and insightful miss pumped upon takes the second spot now promises to dance in a good tracking position third September magic to the outside then brave Samantha flat out rows there five off the pace three clear of flat out rows and a gap of two to Miranda's rocky who's the trailer down the backstretch they go tell me when is the leader by a half length here insightful miss pressing from the outside promises to dance racing alone in third she's two behind as they go into the turn a gap of four progeny finds herself on the rail attempts to get closer September magic pumped upon a bit with five sixteenths to go joining that one three back to brave Samantha flat out rows is given way Miranda's rocky trying to come on from last takes the sixth position she's on the move as they hit the quarter pole here back to the lead tell me when insightful miss stride for stride coming off the quarter here outside insightful miss has got a nose in front tell me when to the inside trying to come on here progeny making a move for outside is Miranda's rocky

sixteenth to go insightful miss still on top goes for home leads by two Miranda's rocky coming on down the center here comes Miranda's rocky to get up in the shadow of the wire Miranda's rocky over insightful miss promises to dance in progeny on officially eight three six the top three in the six at oak lawn park number eight Miranda's rocky getting up in the shadow of the wire for the dream of Tom Vance and Walter Dela Cruz Miranda's rocky who did not do very well against condition twenty thousand dollar claimers in her most recent start steps up at least it seems like a notch in competition today doesn't seem to bother her she scores and scores at what looks like a nice price Miranda's rocky was ten to one on the morning line will check the final odds in just a moment meanwhile we're going to look at both fairgrounds and aqueduct because I don't know who's getting to the gate first they're they're hustling to gated aqueduct straight from the paddock to the gate and they're moving on to the turf course at fairgrounds fairgrounds at seventy one

degrees sunny skies main track fast turf course good they're on the turf for race six mile on the turf these are maiden fillies and mayors scratch number ten lit up who is listed as main track only field of nine here couple of seven to two shots inside and outside runners one royal ascot and nine Tarzana Tarzana actually is the first time starter for Brad Cox with Salino Pedroza board they're loading first at fairgrounds after this will go to aqueduct where it's forty one degrees under cloudy skies the track is listed good at aqueduct race seven is six and a half furlongs on the main track a starter allowance event for New York bread fillies and mayors scratch numbers one and three we've got a three to five shot right now in the six Irish Jackson but looks going to be going first at fairgrounds just about all set last one to load will be that first time starter number nine Tarzana who's inching forward here's John Dooley for a turf mile good luck

they're in the gate and they're off good conduct was away well to come early bids by Buckeye bombshell and right there is sunshine daydream as they make the way toward the first turn and Galatina joins with the rail so with Hunteria Galatina to the early lead at the six and a half with close-up sunshine daydream with Buckeye bombshell in the green cap running a third as these made in fillies mayors go to the back of the course King Gal was running fourth of nine here in the turf mile and good conduct is next in a burgundy cap that comes all lots with proper property the good alpha newcomer Tarzana running second to last and royal ascotrails 23.23 for the lead part and it's Galatina so Galatina dictates terms here 25 to one for the run past the half-mile pole Galatina leads by two and a half sunshine daydream continues to track her for Ben Curtis to break a three more to King Gal who's just in third from Buckeye bombshell with the rail good

conducts running in fifth all outs in sixth that goes private property in seventh Tarzana leads one that's well ask it remains last of all the half-mile 47.77 seconds Galatina still to track down as sunshine daydream now quickens the rope as they come toward the top of the stretch it's sunshine daydream who's made a move and sunshine daydream wide but taking charge off the turn as they come down to the final quarter of a mile three quarters in one at 12.96 seconds the leader is sunshine daydream she has a six length margin with one for long to go from private property who second and staying on Galatina's back in third Buckeye bombshellent all outs with a belated bid but with Ben Curtis it's sunshine daydream trying to hold private property and she does sunshine daydream in a driving finish over private property all outs was third then Buckeye bombshellent Galatina they were next across the finish 854 in the sixth at fairgrounds let's go to aqueduct they just left the gate speed towards the inside here is timmia on the front end is challenged by

cloudy chance in these two now head and head in the early stages just off of them will of a woman was off a step slow moving forward has taken third as to the inside here of iris Jackson the trailer fee fee the fume cloudy chances up by three cores of a length is trying to sprint away here from timmia who's gonna take back a little they're five lengths in front of another pair that's will of a woman who's still to the inside here of iris Jackson they travel in tandem fee fee the fume still at the back end of the field 22.34 for that pressure at opening quarter mile and cloudy chance has the lead cloudy chance up by a half length all into the outside timmia is trying to make up ground will of a woman has dropped back quickly is now at the back end of the field is here comes a run from fee fee the fume out wider with iris Jackson they're approaching the top of the stretch 45.20 for a half mile time and cloudy chance is still there cloudy chance now gets the cue to put this race away but timmia continues to give game chase timmia is chasing cloudy chance they've been that way throughout inside the final furlong iris Jackson starts to

make up some late ground but a sixteenth left to go it's cloudy chance still in front cloudy chance almost home cloudy chance will win it cloudy chance over iris Jackson then came timmia and fee fee the fume woman at 17.7 seven seconds two six four seven the top four in the seventh race at aqueduct number two cloudy chance opening up two big of a lead for the others in the stretch and never really threatened at all she was about two and a half lengths in front maybe three lengths in front as they straightened away the answer made it sound like somebody was trying to close nobody was closing and I think she won by four or five seven to two the price on cloudy chance for hose lascano and chris angle heart unofficial winner of race seven at aqueduct let's get to gulf stream park for the first time today been raining on and off here in south florid fact it's supposed to rain all weekend here in south florid if you're planning to play the races in south florida this weekend I would not be surprised if they are off the turf every day

right now it's 77 degrees there are thunderstorms on and off and they're on the synthetic track a scheduled synthetic track race for race number eight they're off the turf by the way all day at gulf stream today race eight on the card five furlongs the distance seventeen thousand five hundred dollars the claiming price here these are three year old fillies scratch numbers one two four eight nine and eleven eleven of them entered on a synthetic track race and six of them came out that is not supposed to happen four to five favorite right now is number ten nacho problem for the team of Brad Cox and Tyler Gaffleo nacho problem has been trying the turf the last seven starts of her career with moderate success she has never run on a synthetic surface of course a lot of people think that horses who run well on the turf run well on the

synth and vice versa I would say nothing is a hundred percent but yeah a lot of the time that is accurate accurate and nacho problem who to my knowledge has never worked on the synth will be trying it for the first time and Tyler Gaffleo aboard this daughter of waiting who's out of a brethren mayor once again seventeen five the price here that's another weird one I don't know how they came up with these you know ten thousand was a normal claiming price twelve five was one sixteen twenty twenty five why did tracks start doing these like seventeen five twenty six thousand just odd I wonder they're they're I can't imagine it's just a random decision to do that there must be some sort of a formula that they've come up with that that is the number they want to look at for the right claiming price I don't know it's weird whatever it is and even money now the price

on nacho problem second choice is number seven win rusky for Dave bratty and yolbert torres coming off a nice third place finish at this distance and level on the synth just last month once again five furlongs on the synthetic surface for race eight at Gulf Stream Park Pete iElla will have the call that's when rusky who's fractious in the gate at least when rusky might be more than just her all right you heard it there you we could actually see number seven win rusky try to false break she tried to break when the gates weren't open and then slammed on the brakes and actually reared up and the rider came off the back and I think win rusky is now come out of the starting gate the other fillies are standing there for them for the time being they're still in the gate and I'm guessing that the track vet is looking at win rusky and as I say that they are now backing other

runners out of the starting gate so we are going to have a slight delay before the eighth race at Gulf Stream I will keep an eye on that while we have a chance let's get the prices in for the opener at san anita we're number four geometry one just holding on for the win four year old bay gilding by twirling candy out of the lemon drop kid mayor vanishing owned by a gustan stables trained by Jonathan Thomas and tonio frasue was the winning rider geometry 362 62 20 second one empires classic three sixty three twenty third two smooth salute three twenty fourth number six promicio the exacta fifteen dollars the tri seventy six dollars dollar super sixty four dollars and forty cents over at oak lawn park results are in for their sixth race where number eight maranda's rocky closed well for the win at a nice price six year old bay mayor by unified out of the eight pnd mayor rendition owned by frank voselle and trained by tom vance with Walter dala crews maranda's rocky twenty seven dollars twelve twenty and seven dollars

san anita they're moving in for race two on their friday card a mile on the dirt cal breter sired maiden three four and five year olds in for a twelve five tag scratch number five go trigger cut we've got an even money favored in the six irish element he is old for eleven coming into this race today but even money to get the job done this afternoon he can win but it will be without me this does not look like an even money shot that i have any interest in wadering on but kind of tells you what the competition is here he looks like he's better than this field hard to really say there's a first time starter in the seven silver smith or might mccarthy who's showing decent works but uh... irish element most of the race and sees run make him the one to be here's frank and they're off very tardy beginning for broms mendelsen it's a good one for next trick who's going out for the lead with Rachel's gig those two vie for command into the first turn a very erratic broms mendelsen will now try a six wide move

into the first turn in the meantime stage run comes through at the rail he didn't have much early speed but is in the thick of it now third and two lengths off the leader irish element is for followed by silver smith and then comes broms mendelsen at the back of the field it has not been a fun opening quarter mile or so for him they run down the back stretch and it's next trick to the five eighth pole leading half a length over irish element in second at the rail stage run a joint third coming to the half mile pole and silver smith just outside of him Rachel's gig is in between those two and broms mendelsen trails into the far turn next trick irish element the odds on choice alongside second two more come over gets after stage run trying to keep pace third broms mendelsen takes forth he's now four lengths off them leaving Rachel's gig and silver smith at the back a quarter of a mile to go and irish element in next trick

or four lengths clear stage run guided to the center of the track but not making any headway then broms mendelsen they're coming to the eighth pole and it's irish element in a stubborn next trick fighting him all the way irish elements in front though has it a little more than half a length now over next trick who tried his best but will just complete the exact behind the popular irish element who was simply too strong wins by three lengths next trick second stage run third broms mendelsen for it and officially six three two the top three and race two at san anita favorite just too much for the field this afternoon number six irish element he went the mile in 139 and three and still won by daylight and was probably about 10 clear of the third place finish or not the strongest maiden field we've ever seen at san anita but that doesn't matter to the folks who bet irish element because he unofficially gets the job done at a short price all right let's take a break we come back we'll get you paid at gallstream they just went official for

tomorrow out at Gulfstream park welcome back to bedding with bobby part of virginia thoroughbred week presented by the virginia equine alliance here on hrrn oh you some prices from Gulfstream and san anita so let's get those in right now race number eight at Gulfstream was decimated by scratches in the end the winner was number six velvet rage three-year-old dark bear brown filly by raging bowl out of the first samurai mayor dirty red owned by frank russo and trinked by william terranos pho moran wins a lot of races usually during the summertime up at woodbine having a nice few days at Gulfstream park he's aboard for the win velvet rage paid six dollars and three dollars no show wagering here second was the three spotlight girl five sixty to place third number five game it the exact to pay nineteen fifty there was no trifecta or superfecta wagering both of those were refunded over at san anita they have already gone official for their second race

and finally the day came that number six Irish element could get to the winner's circle four-year-old chestnut gilding by texas ryanos out of the good journey mayor susan be good owned by ed delaney and trained by dogo nil amicia haramio was the winning rider on irish element who paid three sixty two sixty and two ten second three next trick six forty three dollars third two stage run two forty to show fourth was number one Brahms Mendelsson exact to twenty dollars twenty cents the tri forty four eighty dollars super forty dollars and thirty cents let's see where we are next we're just coming on to the track we've got about five minutes to post for the seventh race at oakland there about similar minutes to post at fairgrounds and there just a few minutes behind at aqueduct so we've got a few minutes before all of them hopefully we can get all of them in without delays before the end of the show you want to remind everybody coming up next will be trainer talk lees allewis sitting down with mike pen on this year this week's edition

of trainer talk which airs from five to six p.m. tonight and i'll be back from six to seven with bob in the stand of it for another edition of the amwager weekend steaks preview we've got twelve races we're going to talk about tonight uh... three bagger tomorrow at golf stream park we're going about talk about four steaks at colonial downs including this year's virginia derby uh... they've got steaks post saturday and sunday at san anita couple of night steaks tomorrow at oakland and might even throw in the jimmy winkfield from aqueduct as well uh... speaking of tomorrow at golf stream park the hudgeson is one of three steaks uh... scheduled for tomorrow the hudgeson at one point was a very important race uh... on the road to the florida derby and perhaps even the Kentucky derby and i would say it had its heyday somewhere from like the late seventies all the way through the mid nineties when horses like spectacular bid and swale both won the races early on in their three-year-old campaign and of course they would go on to win their

respective Kentucky derbies uh... but you heard holy bulls win ninety four house buster who was a two-year-old champ uh... wanted as a three-year-old and ninety uh... i'm not a two-year-old champ fly so free was a two-year-old champ one at ninety one house buster was a just a fantastic sprinter uh... for jimmy crow one at nineteen ninety uh... frisk me now who was a big long shot when he won it in the mid to late nineties but turned out to be a really good horse won the race as well and horses like more than ready in yana guska who were really really good horses during their time got the job done but uh... unfortunately the folks that uh... make the decisions at Gulfstream park have moved it into a spot where uh... is basically a non-race it went from being a great to in its heyday and having Kentucky derby contenders slash winners run in the race to now it's just kind of an afterthought three-year-old stake during the late winter time at Gulfstream park it's not graded anymore

it's not used on the floor to derby trail uh... you know they've got the moochomacho man they've got the holy bull they've got the fountain of youth and then they got the floor to derby well somewhere in their races like the hutches in in the swale used to matter and to be perfectly honest they don't at least not much anymore as they used to so uh... it's now at least for like the last five years or so it's been a listed stake and not a great at stake and that's where we are right now but it is a fun race tomorrow at Gulfstream park and as i said one of twelve that bob in the stand of it tonight will discuss as part of our m wage or weekend strikes preview as far as holy bull goes well i mean he's one of the best ones in several one the hutches and no he didn't win the Kentucky derby but he did win thirteen of his sixteen career starts he was a champion three-year-old and ninety-four he was actually horse of the year that way as well and a hall of fame inductee in two thousand one oh and by the way he's the favorite horse of our good friend mike penning he continues to say that uh... if holy bull would not have gotten hurt

cigar would never have been cigar and maybe he's right maybe he's not uh... let's get back to the live action today take a look what's coming up at both fairgrounds and oak lawn they're going to get to the gate fairly same time uh... which is not great for us seventh race at fairgrounds is a straight maiden event for three-year-old fillies sprinting six furlongs scratch number seven nightmare fuel just a field of six here seven to five the price on number two Lakota lady perpressed in ferris and marcellino pedrosa junior Lakota lady ran once sprinting six furlongs at fairgrounds against the same level of competition she was sent off thirteen to one that day and only got beat a half a length that afternoon by good all who i know has a chance in one of the stakes that we're going to talk about uh... later on tonight so Lakota lady ran very well into feet she was well clear the rest of the field that day uh... and now uh... she is going to get for the first time in her career she is even money as they approach the starting gate meanwhile

over at oak lawn park seven threes on their card is a mile of which is two turns at oak lawn fifty thousand dollars the claiming tag these are older horses four-year-olds enough field of eight in this spot number three it's in my blood for tom amus and rafael bay harano coming off a nice winning it's thirty five thousand dollar claimers going the mile at oak lawn in his most recent start one that race by almost two takes the next step up to the fifty thousand dollar claiming ranks uh... this afternoon and he's a little bit of a win machine he's one five out of his fourteen starts looks like we're going to get to fairgrounds first then oak lawn then aqueduct as they're just about all loaded in for the seventh race at fairgrounds short but sweet field of six sprinting six furlongs few first-time starters in the field few with experience Lakota lady remains the solid favorite breaking from post position number two uh... you've got first-time starters in the three humble toad four be the light and six fast gun all taking a little money as well

but they're going to have to run to beat Lakota lady if she runs the same type of race today that she didn't her debut and that's certainly a big if it's not necessarily what it's going to what's going to happen i really don't know anything about her trainer pressed in ferris other than pressed in ferris is old for thirteen at the meet and is only had thirteen starter since the beginning of last year i don't know if pressed in ferris is ever won a race i honestly don't know anything about this person but uh... certainly uh... wishing pressed in ferris all the luck with Lakota lady today see if they can get the right trip having a little trouble getting the five nut bush city into the gate i did not make up that name nut bush city a second-time starter for Brett Calhoun who ran behind Lakota lady in that race on february 14th all be it uh... about five lengths behind her and she's not really wanting to go in the gate now jockey axel concepts the owners hopped off as they try to get her in while this is all taking place they're actually

getting to the gate at oak lawn so uh... it seemed like we'd would able to get the seventh at fairgrounds in gate to wire before they'd even go into the gate over at oak lawn park and that's not happening they've actually started loading in at oak lawn as well and now unfortunately these two races are going to run right on top of each other um... all things being equal they both got one horse left to load let's stick with fairgrounds just because it's a shorter race meanwhile they're all in at oak lawn and they're almost all in at fairgrounds we'll try to get fairgrounds to you in its entirety and then pick up the oak lawn race and progress here's john duly mine and the ruff not bush city with an alert start an early bid toward the inside by ages and right

there is the codel lady and uh... humble toad also showing early interest as they go up the back and it's the codel lady was emerged in front of humble toad and the grain ages is right there the top three making this move past the half mile pole toward the inside is the godolphin first year be the light in the royal blue as they answer the far turn joined on the outside by nut bush city and fast gun the back three quarter 21 point 47 and there's three for longs to go the codel lady just needs humble toad who is right there on the outside of the codel lady and these two uneven terms coming toward the top of the stretch to clear from ages who strains away in third from be the light from fast gun and nut bush city but is dropped back these made in fillies come for home to the final quarter of a mile 44.52 for the second part ages with a run one for long to go it's ages and humble toad add these two fillies come together for a final sixteenth clash it's ages racing outside of humble toad as they come inside these final yards ages and humble toad who will it be ages humble toad

it's down to them humble toad for hosiertees humble toad turn back ages bevel life third and fast gun finish fourth well clear let's quickly get to oak lawn they're coming down in the final fur long oops very tight spoiler outside got a better bob than fourth sand but it was very very tight with classic legacy right behind third well we heard him right as they came to the wire at oak lawn park and it was a photo finish between numbers two and seven in that race really don't know who wanted i can tell you over at fairgrounds game effort in victory by the first time starter humble toad with top jock hose or tees aboard battled all the way around pressing the favorite Lakota lady putting her away at the top of the stretch and then gamely holding off ages who had every chance to go on by humble toad at three to one the unofficial winner of race seven at fairgrounds we'll get you the fairgrounds prices and the oak lawn uh prices

once they go official we need to sort things out at oak lawn it's still a photo finish there meanwhile checking in at aqueduct eighth race on their card six fur longs on the main track four year olds and up in for a sixteen thousand dollar tag number one gray wing is the three to five favorite in the field of seven as they approach the starting gate they're showing slow moes at oak lawn park as we're trying to uh gather in who actually got the job done in race number seven i will say this i owe Preston ferris a little bit of an apology apparently 39 wins in the career Preston ferris they just none of them recently and uh i apologize for saying that uh i don't know if Preston ferris has any career wins obviously plenty of wins uh but not today uh as far as Preston ferris goes um did did jutefeld talk to Preston ferris on trainer talk once i'm getting a note jutefeld spoke with Preston ferris on trainer talks seven years ago so it's in the archives

all right perfect Preston ferris there you have it now i feel even worse okay uh meanwhile at oak lawn park two seven eight six the order of finish but the inquiry sign is up none of the numbers are blinking so i don't know what the inquiry is about we'll get back to that in a moment they've gone official at fairgrounds and they're going into the gated aqueduct so we'll get you this aqueduct race and we may or may not be able to get you prices uh for any of these tracks before the top of the hour but we're going to get you eight race at aqueduct uh in geek to wire fashion once again six ferrelongs the distance sixteen thousand dollars the claiming price just a field of seven here in the finale at aqueduct number one gray wing for dick dutro and flavian prat is the overwhelming favorite taking a little bit of a dropping class this afternoon just about all set here's chris griffin at the big egg all set and they're uh emerald forest asked for speed debokov right to the outside is quicker though and

here comes debokov it's now ahead in front with at the rail here comes gray wing to apply the pressure in gray wing like a flash here towards the inside is now taking a right to debokov and these two hook up early divine leader is outside of them is going to be in third starts to move in closer is two and a half off the lead after rail comes amusing mischief right there in fourth twenty two point one six that pumped up opening quarter mile from the back trying to rally on as print ship is right there within during spirit and emerald forest is the trailer well in the far turn now in gray wing is in front is up by a length debokov is back for more towards the outside and here comes in during spirit and tender car moose there on the move three wide and trying to catch gray wing who's in front forty five point three two that half mile time gray wing is gutting it out towards the inside enduring spirit in debokov there's second and third and they've got the gray insight here comes debokov from in between horses now to put a nose in front print ship on the grandstand side is now launching a huge rally here comes print ship from out

of nowhere debokov is in front print ship to the outside these two down the line together give it to debokov debokov wins it over print ship that came in during spirit and am using mischief in one minute ten point nine nine seconds and officially five three six two in the eighth race at aqueduct number five in a back off getting the win for ilke counter machi and many franko will hope to get you those prices but very unlikely because we're getting close to the top of the hour we do have the prices in for the seventh at fairgrounds first time starter number three humble toad with the win three-year-old chestnut filly by hard spun out of the spiced-town mayor froscarin froscarin owned by green lanterns tables trained by eddie caneli hose or tease the winning rider humble toad eight sixty three eighty four twenty those prices correct second one ages four twenty four twenty third four be the light five dollars fourth number six fast gun exact a seventeen sixty tri thirty five thirty dollars super two hundred eighty seven dollars the

inquiry at oakland is still going on it has something to do with leaving the starting gate and moving into the first turn so we're not going to be able to get you paid over there and they are still unofficial at aqueduct we're not going to get those prices in either want to let everyone know this courtesy of our friends at thoroughbred daily news and specifically bill finley irat or tease junior to miss mounts in the virginia oaks and virginia derby he had live mounts seemingly all afternoon tomorrow at colonial so if you're handicapping that card and i know a lot of us are irat will not be right no not be riding at the time that this was printed back at twelve fifteen today replacement riders had not yet been named but irat or tease who was involved in a spill yesterday at golfstream he took off all his mounts today he will not be riding tomorrow in any of the races at colonial that's going to wrap it up today on betting with bobby for a producer lead alipina i'm bobby newman thank you so much for tuning in coming up next is trainer talk
