But now after we had the discussion on KBN,

we need to have the discount like a Twitter poll question.

Do you believe that Wilk Chamberlain actually scored 100 points in a game?

I believe it was 1962, March 2nd, 3rd, whatever.

And we have to put that on.

Because I'm certain of that.

Wembee is not Wilk Chamberlain.

There are aspects to him like now that you have a 3-point shot,

which he can shoot.

Wilk didn't really shoot from that far away anyway.

Why would he when you could dunk her in a fadeaway bank shot

and he had a little scoop layup that he did?

Or I was going to bring up that I believe Wembee against the right team

because you are going to get some help at the end of the game,

maybe not to the degree that occurred this week.

But I think he, I think if you were to say,

As far as the situation with college basketball.

Miami of Ohio lost, right?

In their first game.

They lost time to see.

They would have lost.

You man's had to be like the lowest seed, right?

Yeah, there's a quad for loss for them.

Which of course Miami of Ohio should still get in.

They were unbeaten until the game.

The bubbles just so bad is here too.

They should get in by.

Yeah, pretty much because the bubbles are bad.

And I don't entirely understand why the bubble is bad.

It may be a reflection of the size.

Because teams are in the right side of the bubble to get to the right side.

They keep losing.

Correct.

But I mean, I don't know the dynamics of that.

I don't know that in the past years they talked about how bad the bubble is.

I of course have promoted the Homer 256 for some time.

Instead of the conference tournament games, you would have games.

And you'd have big against small all over the country.

And then you take it from there.

It was an embarrassing loss for Miami of Ohio.

And then someone suggested to have them go against the worst big school like Auburn.

would be great interest in that.

I would assume, um, by the way, Wisconsin won today, 85 82, the big 10, if they copied

another conference with the way they do it.

Like some teams aren't even playing until they now get to the final eight.

Well, this is the first year that all 18 teams are actually in it.

And so you get four teams from the remaining 14 and then those four teams join the top

four, right?

Yeah.

So you have two, you have two eights in a row.

Yeah.

The eight today, the nine matchup today at one.

Yeah.

And then they'll go against the four that got to buy all the way in.

Yeah.

So they get the double buy now double buy, uh, and I think in some conferences, do they

even have the triple buy, um, they're trying to make it look like it's, I think like in

the West Coast, kind of was like in Zaga and, uh, like say, Mary's all advanced for like

a triple buy.

Right.

Oh, so we can have a go.

You want the team.

That's the best team in the conference to play in the NCAA, but you also want to have,

um, you want to have, uh, uh, a tournament so that you can make the money.

Um, um, so, uh, 83, this, uh, who's going to pass it?

And as I said, uh, Wembee is the one that I believe because I don't think they want, uh,

bear him out of bio to have the 83 because he's, you know, he does not reflective of a great

score.

Um, Kevin Durant would have been, uh, he had, he had 72, but that was a while back.

Um, so you, you want the great scores to be the ones that actually do it and, uh, nobody's

ever said he was.

You'd think maybe Anthony Edwards, um, I guess you just picked the people that score a ton

of points, but, um, given his height, his ability to make threes, I am going with, uh, um,

that Wembee will break the record of 83 so that it will now, it will then be wilt Wembee.

He'll be number two.

I think he could actually break 100, um, because it's about getting hot, making threes.

He'll say he makes, you know, 10 threes, that's 30 there, um, but, uh, 83, even though

they, I don't know how they put it like, even though they did whatever is possible to, uh,

to help him.

It's kind of cheapens it in my opinion.

Well, yeah, but look at will, will was, I think 38 of 40, like when Kobe scored 81, I think

only like 20 free throws.

Will Chamberlain, again, average 50 points a game for a whole season, a couple years

before he got to 100 in a game.

So you'd, you'd want it to be the people, uh, and certainly, uh, Michael Jordan would

be somewhere in there, uh, Kobe Bryant would be somewhere in there, you know, people that

just led the league and scoring and, and scored so many points on a regular basis.

Um, let's see.

Um, um, Will Chamberlain averaged 49 points per game over his record streak.

I guess it's, uh, oh, there's no, the scoring streaks, nobody even exists other than

Will, other than Will Chamberlain.

Um, and becomes classic in that when you score as easily as he did, everybody assumes

it.

Everybody else was no good.

Um, as I said, if, uh, if Wembe's listening, uh, beat the 83, people don't want him to

have it because he's reflect, not like the van, who is it that had 70s?

Uh, Booker, what's the guy's name?

Yeah, Devin Booker.

Devin Booker, that one doesn't fit, but that's not high up there.

I don't know where his other scoring is, um, but when Wem, if Wembe had it, people would

understand it, given how tall he is and his ability to shoot trees at that height.

You like to use, well, I just, I've always found your on assignment should be a little

sketchy because when I'm at a gymnastics meet or something, I'm not on assignment.

Technically not, but so I know we don't talk Marquette, we talk Packers and there's plenty

to get to, but like, I thought that they were really coming around.

What happened?

They they reverted back to what they were most of the season, so they didn't think that

coach is a really, really good coach.

I really like he is and then next year will be huge because they have outstanding freshman

coming back and I suspect they'll spend more money and then it'll be about bringing additional

players on with that money because the money out of the radio budget now that the only

people not getting NIL or radio or TV.

By the way, the Seahawks have signed Immanuel Wilson, which that does not help my obsession.

What a segway.

It's not really anywhere near as important as the Packers picking up a defensive lineman,

an older one.

No, but it's important.

I got that asking you what the heck happened to the Golden Eagles.

It combines your two favorite things, Packers, which we all is our bread and butter discussion.

John Schneider, who plucked what I think is going to prove to be a really smart signing

and one the Packers could very much regret letting him out of the building.

I don't know what their plan is or running back.

I don't think they have any ability to put stock or faith.

I mean, I guess it would be faith because faith is defined as belief in things unseen,

right?

And Marshawn Lloyd is the definition of things unseen.

If you think he's going to be your number two running back, he's played one, one out of

a possible 36 games, including playoff games, he's missed one, and he got hurt in that one

game.

Even if you were trying to get hurt, it would be hard to be hurt that much.

Yeah, I mean, I mean, he's a really nice kid.

As I know, Josh Jacobs has done everything he can to take him under his wing.

He would make Marshawn ride with him to practice every single day, each of the last two years

now, while he's been injured.

I mean, look, in fairness to him, he finally gets some of his hamstring issues ironed out

and then he bursts his appendix.

You know, the next thing for him was going to be Locust and Frogs.

No, I'm not blaming him, some people, you know, they just can't stay healthy and it's

stupid to continue to think they will because even if they get healthy, you know, it's going

to happen.

They'll get hurt again.

I'm not blaming him either, but I totally agree with you, which, you know, I don't like

doing.

Like, you just can't count on it.

It's not as, it's not as false.

There used to be a guy that used to do a commercial up here in Green Bay is commercial, he's

for like a weight loss place and he would say, it's not your fault, your fat, which I would

argue it is.

My fault, I'm fat.

I wouldn't have.

I'm in your club on that.

It's in Marshawn.

In Marshawn, Lloyd, it's not your fault, your hurt.

Now, there may be some things that he could do a better job of, and I think he

probably learned those things when he went to Badger Athletic Performance to try and

work out the hamstring issues.

But the bottom line is, is that you can't count on him.

You can hope that maybe finally he, he just got his entire career's worth of injuries

out of his system.

But in Chris Brooks, who I think is one of those guys that you really like to have on

your team, right, really good special teams guy, you know, kind of quiet leader connects

with his, with his teammates really well.

I know he plans their Thursday night dinners with like the running backs on the tight ends.

He invited me to it.

I'm like, dude, this is not, it was really nice of him to do that.

But like I wouldn't, I wouldn't want him to come to a sports writer dinner like I don't,

I'm not contributing anything, but he does pick the really the best restaurants.

So those are, he's a good guy to have on your team.

Right, but I think Wilson's better.

I do too.

Right.

And, and look, he's had roughly 500 yards each of the last two seasons.

He averaged almost five yards of carry in 2024.

And you know, we saw what Josh Jacobs dealt with last season.

Like this is, this is a real legitimate issue.

And so, you know, maybe they're just going to draft the dude in the fifth round and he's

going to turn out to be like Aaron Jones and they'll be fine because there are lots of

running backs to be at, but I do wonder if this is going to be one of those where we look

back and go, they could have really used him this year.

And he's going to do the same thing for Seattle because he's going to be behind Walker,

who's going to get no walkers, no walkers gone.

He signed with.

Oh, that's right.

Who did they?

Who's the other running back?

It'll, uh, Charbonne, who I always think of the old Cleveland Indians like hot rookie

who never really had another running back.

They added to get to take the place of Walker, they may have, uh, I have not been paying

it close to the test.

As you just be with your guy, John Shire, yeah, I got to move on.

I, I, I, I got to just, I got just got to move on.

It's just, it, it consumes me and I, uh, just got to move on.

What do you get consumed by?

That seems out of character.

Well, yeah, but I don't like, and maybe he would have, again, I don't know.

Maybe he would have changed coaches, uh, I don't, I don't know what his opinion would

have been of.

He also could have decided, I think without a doubt, I'll hold on to this that he would

have made the person GM and charge of picking the coach.

Well, he might have done that, but like, I don't think he would have come in and fired

duty.

No, no, nor should he have, by the way, I, I don't just think that if, so if they, if

they end up with essentially the same status quo for a little while, yeah.

team compared to special, even now, and, and special now, yeah, I'd love to do that.

You just start at one, you know, where you rank the top of how many special, and I think

even that team would have significantly more special than exists now.

Well, I would say this, um, and they got lucky.

And I think, yeah, I mean, look, they, first of all, they're quarterbacks.

Oh, Murray's going to the Vikings.

And so he's got a hell of a lot to play, he's playing for his football life.

And if you think back, like, look at what Baker Mayfield has become in Tampa Bay.

Like he had a couple of stops, right?

He was with LA briefly.

Where did he go right after Cleveland?

He went somewhere else to Carolina, maybe.

I know Pebble correct me.

You just know that he went in a lot of places.

Yeah.

And this is, so this is Kyler Murray versus another disappointing former first round quarterback

in J.J. McCarthy.

I'm taking Kyler Murray and I don't even think it's close and I don't even think that highly

of Kyler Murray.

That's how underwhelmed I was by J.J. McCarthy last year.

Now, could he have, you know, answered the bell this coming year and then suddenly turn

things around?

Maybe.

But I'm a huge doubter.

He doesn't seem, and again, I'm always reluctant to question guy's toughness.

I think that is not my place.

But I think that there were people in Minnesota that were questioning it last year.

I really do.

And that you never want to be that guy in your locker room.

Just like I think there were guys in the Packers locker room questioning the level of

effort that Rashad Gary was giving and you don't want to be that guy in the locker room

either.

So I'm fascinated to see, because look, no one thinks that Jared Goff, I don't think

Jared Goff gets enough credit for how good he is when he is in rhythm and able to do

things on time.

When things go, hey, why are he's not good enough?

I totally agree with his critics.

But you got a chance to have four really good quarterbacks in the same division.

None of them great.

None of them having proven yet that they are special, but it could be really interesting

not only this year, but moving forward.

Yep.

I was starting to make my list a special in 2010 team and you knew I knew that there was

no way you were capable of just putting that aside because when you were talking about

quarterback, it's like, can he be the next Sam Darnal?

My answer is no, because the defense and the rest of the team, I don't think with the

Vikings is as good as Seattle.

Seattle's special part is their defense.

They're scary.

Good.

And I don't think Minnesota has that.

Yeah, but Darnal, the Darnal was really good for them though last year, like in 2024,

like Darnal, I understand they didn't get any farther and they did have a really good

defense by the way, but yeah, like for him to win a Super Bowl, he had to be great in

one game.

Yes.

And he was, right?

Right.

And I would say that's part of the luck.

The Packers were lucky in 2010 and I think that I just don't think you could, you could

count on Darnal to be as good as he needed to be in that game against the Rams and he did

it.

So to me, they were, they were.

There is a little luck to it, but the special, I mean, everybody said about the Viking

two years ago, they're going to, they're going to get beaten to playoffs because they're

not that good.

They won so many close games.

I don't remember anybody saying that about Seattle, questioning what they could do in

the playoffs.

No, that's, that's fair because, but, you know, in fairness to the Vikings, their defense

was pretty darn good.

Yeah, I'll have to look at probably that year.

It was more, it was more questioning, right?

Yeah, I think the biggest hurdle people have to get over is, can you think you can do

If you don't think you can do it, you got no chance.

You know what I think determines is how good your players are relative to how good the

top players are.

For example, division three, I think you got to explain this.

I mean, come on, they weren't even good in their own conference, and they win the national

How did that have it?

Either a coach you'd been around there and had done much.

I just assumed like they had some special quarterback or some really talented player that

along with the rest of the team and the attitude stuff that you bring up.

Yeah, you could argue they had maybe the best quarterback in D3 history.

I mean, that kid was a stud.

Now we're talking.

Yeah.

And that's where it started.

Okay.

You know, Beth Blaha kid was a heck of a player, Thriller runner.

He had the it factor, meaning he knew he could win.

And he had some guys to go around them too.

They were pretty good, obviously.

And so, you know, it was something that they got this team together and they made a run

at it.

And they won it all.

And I was really happy for them.

I mean, I think they're coached a good guy and I was happy to see them win it.

When you win it, you'll be kind of a little bit like River Falls.

Though I'd say you've been very competitive and close to the top more than they had been.

So maybe I'm not being fair to you.

Yeah.

Well, I mean, you got to get breaks.

Okay, to win it all, you got to have some things go your way.

And it's not always the most talented and their best team.

You got to be playing at the right time, going into the playoffs.

That's it.

But you got to be pretty close.

You know, my fame is saying, no donkey, everyone, the Kentucky Derby.

I don't care how old I was coach.

I don't care how good the train all of a sudden.

You got to be, you know, with the teams you were on in the NFL, you got to be at a certain

level to be in that neighborhood for all those things to make it turn out perfectly,

right?

I do agree that you at a talent level, you had to be probably in that top 15 or so.

Yeah.

I agree.

Talent level to win it in college football.

I mean, all right.

I got to get to that because are you having to pay players, schools can pay players or

players that might play for you going somewhere else because they can get a little money or

what?

How is paying college players in division one affecting if it is or not in the trickle

down to division two or in your case, division three?

Well, it hasn't yet.

I think the day that it does, it's probably my ticket out.

I so here's my thoughts is what the NCAA has allowed, okay, in college football right now,

is an absolute debacle.

And Nick Sabin, I think, said a best, I don't know if you heard it the other day, I'm

sure you have, you know, and that's probably the main reason he got out and he's not an

agent.

He's a coach.

We mentor.

If you're not into coaching a mentor, okay, then you need to get out of coaching, okay?

That's what coaching is.

So, and with the new system of what to call it free agency, okay, and NIL has caused, you

know, there's, it's taken mentorship out of it to a certain level.

Okay.

You know, it's hard for a kid to come in one year and be a mentor to him.

It's much better when you say I think they need, so I would tell Sabin to those kids need

you more now than ever.

You know why?

Because there's money involved.

They may not need chemistry, but the challenges from what do they do with the money?

What is their family?

How do they spend it?

They need an education more now than ever.

They need Sabin more now than ever to give some leadership to how to deal with this.

You know, imagine the need your son would have if he came to college and got a million

bucks.

That multiplied by 10, two different kinds of education.

I know.

Yeah.

Well, no.

We're talking two different things.

You're talking NIL money.

I'm really talking transfer portal.

Oh, okay.

Okay.

So, I mean, I, the NIL money, I don't have a, a real big issue with it.

I think they need to do some parameters there, okay, and, and, and it works some things

out.

The money to be in May, so the money has to go somewhere.

Yep.

So, having the kid get some money, I don't have a big issue with it, but the transfer portal

thing is literally out of control.

That's what, that's what I have a big problem with.

And you, you talked to most college coaches.

They would say the same thing because the team changes every year.

All right.

Now, let's get to you.

You answered the question there.

Let's get to Bob Harlan.

I know you have a Bob Harlan story on what a great guy was because there were a million

of them out there.

And you had to have some.

Yeah.

Yeah.

Bob, well, Mr. Harlan, let's call him because I have a lot of respect for him.

Good, fair enough.

And when I think of him, and he had such a kind heart, I mean, he was a kind man, a

just a good man.

And, and, and there's a reason why the Buffalo Bills are so successful in the Green Bay

Packers, they were so successful because the, the, the Ralph Wilson's and the Bob Harlan's

of the world, the high character men that run teams and they do it the right way.

They treat their, the guys like, you know, pros and professionally and they don't skimp

money.

Okay.

They really first class all the way and the players take notice of that and Bob was phenomenal.

He was such a, he was such a good man.

And, you know, hey, I knew him.

And 83 before he became president and when they talked about him being president, I wasn't

the only one.

We all said, there's no way he can be president.

Not a chance in the world of the way.

He's too nice.

He's too nice.

The people that nice don't be a president.

He always wore a, I always swear it was always a blue shirt and a tie.

Yeah.

I don't know if it was the same way when you're, but I, I would, people don't understand

that like, no, we were just certain.

No, it's too bad, but you can't be that nice and be president.

And then he was and certainly made the great decisions necessary in addition to being

nice.

Yeah.

I agree.

I, I think that's a great illustration of Bob Harlan.

He, he was too nice, but yet he still earned respect.

You know, I think when you were that kind of a kind, hearted person, people respect that.

And when there are issues, you're more willing to listen to you and obey you, let's say,

and do what's right because he's the president.

So, um, not everybody has that characteristic.

I would say, I assumed, I would assume you, you are to that way in some, also, uh, well,

you could say I'm wrong and your players think you're a big rest of the Bob Harlan.

That's a huge compliment.

Well, thank you.

I, listen, I don't know.

I mean, I try to be kind, but I don't, I can't answer that.

Yeah.

Well, we'll have to get a player on and one time, all right.

What do you want to see about the Packers?

What do you want to see about the current Packers?

They're good, but they're just not good enough.

Coach is good.

Is he good enough?

GM is good.

Is he good enough?

Well, just, you just, it's hard to be that good.

You've lived it and know it.

Is that a fair statement to make?

Yeah.

I feel it, I think it is a good statement.

I will say this, do they need to make changes, uh, like it coach?

No, I actually, I like, I like coach, I think he's a great coach.

I think he's good man.

I mean, he said great success.

My parameters on coaching in the NFL, can you get us to the dance meeting the playoffs?

If you can get us to the dance consistently, pretty much every year.

Okay.

That's all I would ask for is a fan, you know, yeah, I want to win two balls and I want

to make runs and they have, okay, uh, he gets us there every year.

I mean, he's very consistent.

He's very good at it.

Uh, do we need to upgrade his positions?

Well, yeah, we always need to do that.

I, and we've said this before, okay, I think they have the quarterback.

I still think they lack that, that big time playmaking receiver that they haven't had

in a while.

In my mind, okay, and a defense that was, that can go next level because you know you

win super balls with defense in a running game, but that's always been the standard.

And no one thing I add is I've got a new t-shirt.

You might like all of it.

Just win the damn division.

The first three years, they won the division and they were very close to winning it all

in that group.

Last four years, having won the division and it's just so hard when you're there as a six

or seven seed.

So, um, well, yeah, it's no longer a push over division.

Yes.

That's another part.

It's horrible.

That's not the case anymore.

Now the bears think they can win the super ball, which is a, you know, a scary even

thing.

You know, and then they got a coach.

Lions have gotten better.

High level.

Yeah, the Lions have gotten better even though I thought they took a term for the, you

know, in the drug direction last year, but though Campbell will get them back, you know,

he will.

He's a great coach.

You know, so it's going to be, it's going to be tough and they, they had it this year.

They let it get away, both bear games, you know, they should have won the first one would

have been, would have, would have set them up perfectly and then they lost to him.

Oh my gosh, it was this heart wrenching, you know, those two bear losses, especially

for guys that live in Illinois.

They coach in Illinois.

It was hard, man.

I, I didn't want to go to work the next day.

All right.

Any last word you want to leave?

You know, Homer, you know me, I'm a big, big fan and miss being on the show, it's been

a while.

Yeah, we got to get you on a regular basis and we're going to have you come on every now

and then.

You know, one, now that I'm down to a one hour, it doesn't have his, I don't, you didn't

You didn't make the cut, you know, just make the cut.

there is division three player, you should play for Don, baby, you know, make your life

better.
