Bears Release Edmunds, Gain Cap Space

The Chicago Bears released linebacker Tremaine Edmonds this week, freeing up $15 million in salary cap space. The 27-year-old, two-time pro-bowler, had been with the team since signing a $4-year $72 million deal in 2023. This move gives the Bears a total of $44 million in new cap room after trading wide receiver DJ Moore, and dealing with Center Drew. Dawman's retirement, earlier, the Bears let Edmonds seek a trade, but no deal came through. Now he's a free agent, and teams like the Tennessee Titans, Las Vegas Raiders, and New York Giants had shown interest before. All three squads struggled last season, winning fewer than four games each, and could use his experience with 119 career starts.
