The NFL handed out 33 compensatory draft picks to 15 teams today, but the Chicago Bears came away empty handed. Bears fans were holding out hope for a reversal after the team lost assistant general manager Ian Cunningham to the Atlanta Falcons as their new general manager. Team leaders felt the spirit of the Rooney rule and Cunningham's role made a strong case for the picks of you shared by plenty around the league. But the NFL stuck to its guns, calling the move lateral since Matt Ryan is listed as Atlanta's top football executive even if Cunningham handles personnel.
