Baylor Scheierman Plays Through Fractured Thumb

Baylor Shireman of the Boston Celtics fractured his left thumb during their win over the Brooklyn Nets. The injury happened in the second quarter after he bumped into Igor Demon. Even though it hurt right away, Shireman stayed in the game. He got the thumb taped up after a timeout and kept playing strong. He logged over 13 more minutes, running screens and hitting shots like nothing happened. Shireman has earned a steady spot in the rotation lately. He started 9 of his last 10 games and notched all 3 of his double doubles during that run. His rebounding has boosted Boston, who now ranks 2nd in defensive rebounds at 74.2%. Coach Joe Mazula has praised how Shireman crashes the boards from anywhere on the floor. That effort helps the team get out and run in transition on defense. He then tested the thumb with some shots this morning and feels good to go against the Philadelphia 76ers tonight.
