Baty's Debut in Right Field, Polanco's First at First

The 26-year-old infielder played five innings out there, with just one ball coming his way. Meanwhile, veteran Jorge Palanco got his first action at first base during the same game. Beatty went one for three at the plate, including a two-run homer to left in the first inning. That marked his first hit of spring training after a strong 2025 season, where he hit 18 home runs and batted 0.254. Both players showed positive attitudes about switching positions. Beatty, who started as a third baseman and learned second base last year, said he'll play anywhere. Palanco, mostly a middle infielder in his career, went one for two with a walk and feels more comfortable at first already. The two have been practicing first base together, along with Mark Vientos, helping each other out. This versatility helps the Mets keep their bats in the lineup no matter where they play.
