Baldwin County & Loxley: New East-West Corridor

Baldwin County Commission and the City of Loxley are joining forces on a major road project through the 30 cubed program. This initiative builds a new East to West corridor, linking U.S. Highway 31 and Alabama Highway 59. The effort completes an existing route with key connections. The project costs $16.3 million and spans 36 months. It includes a 480-foot bridge spanning Fish River, plus a vital link from Bedrock Boulevard to Highway 59. Baldwin County and Loxley will split the expenses evenly. Local leaders highlight how this will streamline daily travel and boost emergency response times. Baldwin County Engineer Frank Lundy called it a big achievement for local governments tackling large-scale work. Commissioner Matt McKenzie noted the benefits for first responders and crises. Loxley will take over road maintenance once finished. Before construction starts, the plan requires environmental reviews and necessary permits.
