In January, brutal heat waves pushed temperatures close to 50 degrees Celsius in some spots. Then February flipped the script with massive downpours, where certain areas got more rain in a single week than they saw all of last year. These wild swings led to flooding in parts of the country, triggered by lingering monsoon low. Residents dealt with everything from scorching days to sudden deluge, highlighting the unpredictable weather patterns down under. Burl of meteorology data pinpointed at least six stations across three states that broke records twice over. Places like Swan Hill and Horsham in Victoria hit 47 degrees Celsius on January 27, followed by huge rains almost exactly a month.
