Auston Matthews Knee Surgery: 12-Week Recovery

He tore his grade 3 MCL and bruised his quad in his left leg. Doctors say he needs about 12 weeks to recover fully. The injury came from a knee-on knee collision with Anaheim Ducks' defenseman, Ratco Goudas during a 6-4 win on March 12th at Scotiabank Arena. Goudas drew a major penalty for knee and a game misconduct. Then got hit with a 5-game league suspension. Team mates hate seeing it happen. Four Rajan Tavares noted how hard Matthews grinds to lead and helped the team win. The Leafs sit 12 points back of the second wildcard spot in the East with a 29-28-12 record. Matthews put up 53 points, including 27 goals and 60 games this season. He was already out for the regular season's end. And this timeline rules him out of playoffs unless Toronto makes a miracle deep run.
