Austin Bar Shooting: Suspect Killed, Victims Include UT Students

0:00This is Cory, and here's what is making news across Durham right now. A gunman killed two people and wounded 14 others in a shooting at a bar in downtown Austin, Texas, early Sunday morning. Police shot and killed the suspect, identified as 53-year-old Andiaga Diagne, right at the scene. Diagni, originally from Senegal and a naturalized U.S. citizen since 2006, drove an SUV past the bar on Sixth Street before firing A. Pistol out the window. He then parked, grabbed a rifle, and kept shooting until officers stopped him. Austin Police Chief Lisa Davis noted officers arrived within a minute of the first call, thanks to heavy-weakin patrols in the busy nightlife area. Mayor Kirk Watson praised the quick action, saying it saved lives. University of Texas leaders said some victims were students and offered prayers for everyone affected.
