Cal Raleigh caught for the Americans while Randy Arozerina played outfield for Mexico. During the matchup on Monday evening, an awkward moment happened at the plate. Reina approached Raleigh for a handshake before stepping into bat. Raleigh spoke to him but did not shake his hand, leading to some quick back and forth. This is not the first time something like this occurred with Arozerina. Back in the 2023 World Baseball Classic, USA catcher Will Smith also skipped a handshake with him. After the game, Arozerina fired back in post-game comments. He used strong language across English, Cuban style, and Mexican style to express his frustration over the interaction. While the tone seemed intense, Arozerina also praised Raleigh's parents in the same interview.
