In the United States 5-3 win over Mexico, Aros Arena went to shake hands with Raleigh at homeplay before an at-bat, but the catcher stayed low, and didn't respond. The two-time All-Star Outfielder, who plays for Mexico, looked upset in the moment. Aros Arena vented later to a Mexican reporter in Spanish, saying Raleigh should thank his well-educated parents and using some strong slang to insult. Him, he switched to English, telling Raleigh where to put his friendly greeting. It all stemmed from that awkward exchange, though it's unclear if words were exchanged that set him off. The pair are actually teammates now on the Mariners, since Aros Arena got traded from Tampa Bay during the 2024 season. Aros Arena was born in Cuba, but defected to play for Mexico in Major League Baseball.
