Armed Man Surrenders After Standoff, Roads Reopen

He was allegedly armed with a gun, prompting a major response that shut down traffic through the local town center. Offices from the state's Tactical Operations Unit rushed to the Victoria Street area, setting of road diversions to keep drivers safe during the incident. Several resident Troy Pamau got a first-hand taste of the disruption when he tried heading home from work. Police blocked his street, preventing anyone from entering or leaving houses which left him and his housemate waiting it out. The situation wrapped up peacefully when the man surrendered without any shots fired or injuries. He was arrested and taken straight to a hospital for medical checks.
