On today's show, I'm going to share a story with you that was experienced first hand

1:03by a close friend of my family. It's a little darker and a little creepier in the typical topics we discussed on the show, but for the month of October, I figured it was appropriate. So sit back and prepare yourself for one of the most unsettling and haunting stories that anyone has ever shared with me. Welcome to the show. I'm your host, Nick Ryan, and this is episode 25. I appreciate everyone being with me today. I hope everyone's October has started off well, and the story I wanted to share with you guys today is a personal one for me. So without further ado, let's get into it. This story takes place in the small town of Milford, Michigan. Situated approximately 45 minutes north-west of downtown Detroit, Milford is a quaint little town with a population of almost 7,000 people.

2:07Surrounded by water and multiple state recreation areas, it is a perfect example of a serene and safe Midwestern village. It is here that a very close friend of my family lived, and to protect her identity, I'll refer to her as Lisa. Lisa, her husband, and their two young boys are your typical loving family, working hard during the week and enjoying each other's company on the weekend. I remember going over to their house on multiple occasions during my childhood, and their home always felt warm and welcoming. As I recall, Lisa wasn't particularly religious at the time, but I always remember her being a very friendly and positive person. Lisa and my mother had been friends for many years, and had actually worked together several years earlier. Lisa was always very level-headed and even tempered, and was never prone to exaggeration. As the years passed, our families didn't spend quite as much time together as we used to, but my mother and Lisa remained in contact and would occasionally meet at local restaurants to reconnect and update each other on what was happening in their lives.

3:09Most of the time, there wasn't a lot of terribly important news to convey, and both Lisa and my mother would just enjoy each other's company. Around 1999, my mother and Lisa met, forget another of their monthly get-togethers. Everything seemed normal, but as the evening progressed, my mother could tell that Lisa seemed like something was bothering her. She asked Lisa what was on her mind, and Lisa said that she had experienced something so frightening that she hadn't been able to put it out of her mind. After a bit of questioning, Lisa explained what had happened. In the months before this most recent visit, Lisa had become significantly more involved with her local church. She and her family had been attending every Sunday, and Lisa had discovered a newfound love for volunteering within her church group. In fact, just weeks before her visit with my mother, she had agreed to attend a pilgrimage to Medjugoria, a town in Bosnia well-known for its landmarks, and a 1981 sighting of what onlookers believed to be the Virgin Mary.

4:10Lisa explained in the months leading up to her trip, strange things began to occur. One evening after a long work day, Lisa and her family were enjoying a relaxing evening at home. They ate dinner, relaxed in the living room, and eventually, Lisa decided that she was tired, and she made her way upstairs to the bedroom, leaving her husband and two sons downstairs. She brushed her teeth and changed her clothes, and proceeded to sit down on the edge of the bed. As she turned her body and reached for the covers to pull them up, she was startled to see what appeared to be her husband, standing at the foot of her bed. He seemed to be facing away from her, and standing perfectly still, which seemed very strange. As she stared at him, she was bewildered as to how he snuck into the bedroom without her seeing or hearing him. Her mind reeled with confusion for what seemed like a minute or two. As she continued to look at the back of her husband, she slowly realized that the clothes he was wearing were not his own. This figure was wearing light blue jeans and a light t-shirt,

5:11and as she began to scrutinize more and more details, she could tell that this, in fact, was not her husband. It was at this time that the man began to turn, and Lisa felt a suffocating sense of dread. She couldn't find the will to speak or the strength to move. As the man slowly turned, his body began to change and shift into what seemed to be a hairy reptilian-looking beast. Lisa was frozen, with a fear she had never experienced before in her life. The only thing she could do was stare at the monster now standing in front of her. As the creature faced her, its body fully changed, and Lisa described it as having horns. When asked for other details, she could only say that it was the most awful thing she had ever seen. She said that it stood there and that it never spoke. However, she had an overwhelming feeling that it was there to dissuade her from participating in her upcoming pilgrimage. After what seemed like an eternity, the entity faded and eventually completely vanished.

6:13Lisa called to her husband and shared her horrifying encounter with him. When he asked her what she thought it was, she confidently stated that it was indeed the devil himself. The following day during church, Lisa was talking with a close friend after mass, and the friend could tell that Lisa was acting uneasy. When asked, Lisa told her friend about her experience, and after relaying every detail, her friend admitted that she too had had the same exact visitation from the exact same creature days before. As far as I know, Lisa attended the pilgrimage and returned safely. My mother and Lisa still stay in contact to this day, but Lisa no longer talks about the events that took place that night. What haunts me the most regarding this encounter is the fact that she believed this to be the devil, not a demon, not some sort of evil entity, but the devil himself. I think this story is a good reminder that evil is never far away, but where there is evil,

8:20Welcome to the show, I'm your host Nick Ryan, and this is Episode 30. Tonight's episode consists of two short stories brought to us by our listeners. As always, we appreciate you writing in and sharing your experiences. Our first story was posted in our forum by Leila. Leila writes, Every story I've heard of shadow people have been men being described, but this encounter was definitely a woman. One night a few years ago, I was going to sleep as usual, but this night was a little different. My dog was sick and he was sleeping in his kennel. I fell asleep and woke up around what I think was about 1 a.m. When I woke up I couldn't move. I didn't panic because I've had sleep paralysis before, but always felt protected because my dog was always sleeping right next to me. I tried to move my fingers slowly. I usually do this to try and be able to move, as it's always worked.

9:22That night it didn't work, so I opened my eyes and I just see this shadow covering my hands. I was sleeping on my side with both my hands in front of me. Naturally I started panicking and looking around the room. Above my hands, about 2 or 3 feet, I see these two glowing red eyes. I don't know how, but I knew this was a malevolent female energy that wanted to harm me. At this point I'm wondering why my dog isn't protecting me, but then I remember that he's in his kennel downstairs. I didn't know what to do, so I shut my eyes and eventually fell back to sleep. Since that night I always make sure my dog is sleeping in the room with me. Laila, thank you for being a contributor in our forum. Your experience is definitely unique, as most of the stories that I have heard involving shadow people do indeed seem to describe a male presence in the room, more so than a female. I'm glad that having your dog in the room brings you comfort and helps to keep any negative energy

10:22at bay. I'm just sorry that you had to experience that particular encounter without the help of your dog. Animals are helpful to our well-being in ways that we can't even imagine. Kelly says, Hi Nick, my name is Kelly and I'm from the small town in the state of Oklahoma. I had just recently started listening to your podcast and instantly became a huge fan. Anyway, I have a story of my own that actually happened last night. Yesterday afternoon I noticed Okchimali, my dog, acting weird. I live out in the middle of nowhere, so I keep our front door open on nice days. Okchimali kept coming in the house and whimpering. He knows he's not supposed to be in the house, but this was different. It took everything I had to get him back outside. He did this twice. I just figured it had stormed earlier, and he was scared and being a big baby. Later that night I had just put the kids to sleep

11:26and laid down myself. It was about 12.30 am. I couldn't sleep so I decided to play a few games on my phone when the dogs started to go crazy outside. I thought they were getting into a fight with an animal of some sort. I went to quiet them, only to see them sitting in the front yard like nothing was going on. I laid back down, picked up my phone, and the dog started again. This time my husband got up to see what was going on. This time Okchimali was watching the door and growling and acting strange. My husband laid back down and told me what happened. Just as we were about to go to sleep, our Xbox One came on. My husband jumped up and asked why I had turned it on. I told him I didn't and showed him the controller that was still off. He got up, turned it off, and went back to bed. As soon as he laid back down, it came on again. He jumped up and unplugged it. I took the batteries out of the controller and set a prayer. After my prayer, I began to feel scared, nauseous, and like I was being watched.

12:28My husband was lying next to me, but I could tell he was awake. I tried to tell him I was scared and that something wasn't right, but I couldn't. I couldn't move, scream, or talk. I was terrified. My body became hot, and my heart felt like it was in my throat. I felt like I was about to pass out, but I tried everything I could to stay awake and move. When I woke up, it was 7am. I don't remember falling asleep. I just remembered the sleep paralysis. I've had it happen before, so I know what it's like. I told my husband what I felt and what happened after the Xbox came on, and he said I had slept through everything. He told me that he tried to wake me up after I laid down the first time after the dogs went crazy, and I wouldn't wake. But I know I was awake during everything that happened. We even had a conversation about the Xbox, which he said he didn't remember. I don't know what was going on, but it was terrifying. I've seen things, heard things, had recordings, but none of them had ever scared me like this incident.

I think it's interesting that the dogs seem to be extremely aware of the phenomena that were taking place or about to take place. It's strange how the dogs initially wanted to come in as if they were scared of something that was outside, but as the phenomena progressed, you and your husband witnessed things going on inside the house. Perhaps the dogs were trying to protect you and your husband from something that they could sense was inside your home. I'm also wondering if your dogs have ever behaved in a similar way in the past, or if you've ever experienced issues with electrical appliances. Animals can play key roles in bringing paranormal experiences to our attention. I would keep a close eye on them to see if they give you any clues. Hopefully you don't experience any other strange events take place,
