Apology Accepted? Connolly's Racist Posts Spark Controversy

Critics. He's a pastoralist set to be sworn in on Friday as the king's representative, similar to a state governor. Those posts, now deleted, blamed indigenous people for illegal bushfires and much of the crime in the region. He says he deeply regrets them, never meant to offend and they don't reflect his values. He promises to serve all residents moving forward. Aboriginal leaders have slammed him as toxic and vowed not to welcome him in remote communities. More than 20 politicians and community figures signed an open letter urging Prime Minister Anthony Albanese to withdraw the nomination. Meanwhile, the Northern Territory Parliament has banned protesters from gathering outside during Friday's ceremony. The labor opposition and independence plans a boycott the event entirely.
