I keep saying I think Stott should be every day player.

I don't think he should be a platoon player.

Don't you have to find out if Stott is an every day player?

I mean, I don't know.

So this is fine player, if the utility guy

great to have in there, I don't think of him.

I think if Stott, as could Bryce and Stott

be a Philly for the next 10 years.

And if he's a Philly for the next 10 years,

I think about him as an every day player, not a platoon player.

Yeah, I like the thing was an every day player.

The numbers against lefties, I guess, don't suggest that.

But also, I think they're a little too quick.

I think they believe in so, so a lot, really.

I think they like so sick against lefties.

And I think if you view it as they play six games in a week

and so starts once against lefty or twice, over 162,

that should, like those combined numbers

should have one of the best better second baseman and baseball.

I mean, last night, I think it was Edmundo's worst game

as a Philly.

It was terrible.

I mean, throwing home in the first inning, dreadful.

The miss, the trying to throw that ball

to turn her second base, that's a flip.

And then it botched a ball in the bowling and anything.

I mean, the game was out of reach,

but like, feel the grab ball.

He's a great defender.

I don't know what was going on with Edmundo last night.

So it was a bad night overall.

One thing that irked me last night

that we haven't talked about, and it's a minute thing.

But it bothered me that they didn't retaliate at all.

I'm a big, I like having someone wear one

if there's a travesty that goes on a baseball game.

I'm not afraid to throw inside.

I think it's part of the game.

The nationals double stealing or doing the, you know,

runner-on first base, steal second,

debate the throw to second base

and they're running from third coming home.

Up eight to, bothered me.

To make it nine to, in the latter portion of a ball game,

someone's got a wear one.

I mean, that's a blatant disrespect

of the unwritten rules of baseball.

Is it a manager that says throw it at him

or does the pitch or just the last time somebody wore one.

A lot of hype around him.

And his spring was, there's some good in the spring.

There's some shaky in the spring.

Obviously, we've talked to Nazim about him tonight.

But it's the fastball.

What does the fastball look like?

And the one started against the Orioles.

He started at 97.

And then by the third, it was 94.

The next start out against the Braves.

He maintained the velocity.

So, we'll see.

We'll see with Andrew Painter.

The expectations, I think, are 4 to 4.2.

On the season, ERA.

But hopefully against the Nationals tonight, we need the stopper.

We need the ACE.

And I think it's going to be a joyous atmosphere

down the ballpark tonight as one of our prodigal sons

starts his career.

They let him go to 90 plus pitches.

the gut last night.

And it's one of these again, monitoring of the situations.

But we talk about the complacency.

Well, like the one thing that hit me was the run it back.

Do they do it one year too long?

Where the chemistry is, is stale.

They just reach the stale phase of this.

Because that's how they, they look right now.

They look like a stale unit.

And that was one of the fears.

And I talk about the Pat Gillett quote, no six.

When he traded Bobby Abray, you all the time.

Because what he said was, we've gotten close, but not good enough.

We need to shake the chemistry up.

And like they ran it back again.

And the one thing you could worry about is a staleness setting in.

Well, shouldn't Garcia sort of spice it up for us a little bit?

I still think the core of the team and the manager being the same

is what provides the real energy there.

And I felt this way in, like it felt that way to me in 24.

The 24 fillies felt stale.

Because they went on that extended stretch where they were losing and losing

and nobody did anything about it.

And this is where I just keep coming back to the manager in that

if you believe in the talent, but you have to change something.

A different energy from that spot.

You know, might, like, I don't, look, maybe they win these next two.

They sweep the Rockies and everything's normal and whatever.

But, but you know, it will be Thompson because you can't,

the players are the players and the players will get, but they can't change the players.

So I don't know.

I agree.

And it's the one thing that I had to learn to accept with Rob Thompson.

The mal manner demeanor.

Where he doesn't do a whole lot of yelling.

Last night might have been the most fiery I've seen him in a while around here

getting tossed out last night.

It becomes, it becomes difficult for us to sit through the downspills

when this is the makeup of the club.

We don't have a fire starter in the clubhouse.

We don't have someone that has a little bit of edge.

Matter of fact, the one guy they had like that is gone now.

This is where the top part of being patient sits on us because I've gotten frustrated

with the team early in the year.

Got frustrated with the manager in the past early in the year.

And all you hear is it's baseball.

Give them time.

And in the last three years.

It's been proven to be right.

It's not a guarantee that it's going to happen this year.

And I understand the concern.

But I do also understand where people will be like.

We've seen this before.

Let them give them time to work their way.

We'll figure it out.

Yeah, they'll figure it out.

And the reason that I said I thought they'd win 97 games is.

I think it'll be one of those things where I'm just going to think it's going to happen until it doesn't.

And one of these years, it won't happen.

I don't know if it's this year or next year or whatever.

But who knows?

It could be this year.

Now, the one that you brought up, Thompson, the Jack, the review and him getting thrown out.

So here's the question I have on the challenge.

So they challenged the call at first base.

And they got the call wrong.

But they had already tugged also after that play.

They threw the ball and they tugged the guy out who was running from third to home.

I thought it was the right call because you saw the guy stop running after the umpire called the guy out at first.

Are they supposed to just keep playing as if that out did not happen?

Yes.

And then when does it stop?

So imagine this.

Imagine they don't tag that guy.

Well, is there a guy, let's say there's a guy going from first that rounds second and rounds third.

Does he have to keep playing as if nothing happened?

Because everybody thought it was the third out of the inning.

So if the umpire says out, it seems to me it would be natural for the guy rounding third to just walk off the field if he thinks it's the end of the game.

Yeah.

So let me ask you this.

Okay.

So let's say it's O2, two outs, right?

And there's a guy on first.

The guy leaves for first to seal second.

The guy gets called out on a third strike.

But the catcher throws it to second anyway.

Like what happens to that guy if there's an ABS challenge and it turns out it wasn't a strike.

And it was a ball like when do they have to stop playing?

Because it it seemed like the argument that Thompson was making was that you're supposed to finish the play or whatever.

I just don't understand when the play ends.

Well, I think that's where the complication with the rule comes in.

Like he came out to to argue it.

So that's why immediately got thrown out.

Right.

But he wasn't arguing.

He just wanted clarification on like that you enforce this the right way.

So it doesn't seem like that there is a clear definition as to what should happen.

Of when the play stopped.

And I think they just leave it up to the umpires at their jurisdiction.

And they said he was like they made a decision that he was stopped.

Stop the third.

Yes.

So that in the NFL, if they call, if a guy fumbles it.

If the referee blows the whistle and says play dead, then it doesn't matter what happens.

If the referee doesn't call it a fumble, then everyone keeps playing.

But if the referee calls it dead, then it's dead.

Even if he was wrong, they can't.

So that's why I keep thinking about what happened at first.

If the umpire didn't make any call at all, maybe that's the answer at some point.

If it's bang, bang, the umpire just doesn't make a call and everybody finishes the play.

Because I they're going to have to figure something out.

Because that's also super hard to enforce.

Well, I would agree.

But I also think the thing that I brought up to you with ABS, if it's O2 and the guy's stealing.

And it's a call third strike and that guy who's stealing stops or something or gets thrown out,

do they say, okay, well, you know, that was a ball, but the guy got caught stealing second

even though it was the third out.

I know.

It seemed like they just came to a conclusion and they had to ask each other like, yeah, are you sure

we're supposed to do this or is he out?

It just seemed obvious to me that the guy stopped running when he called the guy.
