0:00I'm Cory with the story, and this is your Pulse of the City, Adelaide News today. Andrea Lamb has become a breakout star as the host of ABC TV's The Piano, but she's also a concert pianist with over 30 years of experience. Starting at age 5, she built a career performing worldwide, and now shares her expertise with a new generation of musicians. She prepares for performances using mental visualization, much like elite athletes do. Without a piano or sheet music, she walks on Sydney beaches, imagining the composer's world, and letting the music form in her mind. Her father introduced her to this technique as a young performer to E Stage Nerves. Debuting with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra around age 13, she found it helped her perform at a high level under bright lights. Andrea has performed with major orchestras in Australia and abroad, including at Carnegie Hall and the Sydney Opera House. She won the ABC Young Performer of the Year in her final school year and earned our EO Awards for Best Classical Album in 2021 and 20, 25.

1:02Today in her 40s, she teaches students to embody the music through playful methods like moving their bodies. She focuses on capturing the true intent and emotion behind each piece.
