The U.S. President has issued an even more violent threat

warning a whole civilization will die tonight

if a deal isn't reached with Iran.

Donald Trump made the comment on social media when discussing the deadline

to reopen the straight-of-hermuz, which is just hours away.

While not referencing the comment directly, the UN Secretary General

says he's deeply troubled by recent threats to civilian populations.

U.S. Vice President J.D. Vance says they won't hesitate to act

in the face of what he's called economic terrorism.

They've got to know we've got tools in our toolkit

that we so far haven't decided to use.

The President of the United States can decide to use them

and he will decide to use them if the Iranians don't change their force of conduct.

Ben Robertsmith has spent the night behind bars

refused police bail after being charged with alleged war crimes in Afghanistan.

The Victoria Cross recipient is due to face court today

following his arrest at Sydney Airport yesterday.

The 47-year-old denies any wrongdoing.

The Prime Minister has held crisis talks

with the Premier of China amid the ongoing fuel crisis.

They spoke over the phone agreeing to increase communication

between their respective governments

to help ensure regional energy security.

The Prime Minister will also travel to Singapore later in the week

with a focus on sureing up fuel supplies.

Australians have purchased more electric vehicles

in a single month than ever before amid the ongoing fuel concerns.

Nearly 16,000 EVs were sold in March,

almost 90% more than in the same month last year.

National Automotive Leasing and Salary Packaging Association Chief Rohan Martin says

going electric can have a multi-thousand-dollar saving.

And when combined with a no-vaded lease in the electric car discount,

total savings rise significantly.

Cricketing great David Warner is due to face a Sydney court next month

accused of drink driving.

New researchers found public confidence in Australian universities has fallen

by more than 20% over the last six years.

The ANU study found while confidence among those who hold degrees

had remained mostly the same.

when our far less supportive Professor Nick Bittle says tertiary educators

need to do a better job of engaging with those outside the institutions.

The universities need to make sure they're taking on a broader role,

as long as possible,

that they are seen to be providing value to Australia as a whole,

not just those who are currently or have studied.

Rapa Kanye West has been blocked from entering the United Kingdom,

causing a music festival to be cancelled.

The British government withdrawing the Rapa's electronic travel authorization

on the grounds his presence would not be conducive to the public goods.

Sir Keir Starmer is saying Kanye West should never have been invited to headline wireless.

The Rapa earlier issuing a statement offering to meet with members of the British Jewish community.

Jewish leaders declining the invitation for the purpose of saving the festival,

labeling the decision to book him a massive error in judgment.
