AmFirst Buys Birmingham Office, Plans Modern Expansion

0:00On this March 2nd in Birmingham, here's what is making headlines. One of Alabama's biggest credit unions, Amphurst, just bought a renovated office building at 1-10-12-Dustreet North in Birmingham. It's only three blocks from their main headquarters at 12-4th Avenue North, that headquarters opened back in 1980 and got expanded in 2019, but now it's completely full. The building has a rich history in the city. It started as an entrepreneurial incubator in the 1990s, then housed the University of Alabama at Birmingham's office for developing, industries until 2007. Most recently, PAC health used it until they shut down last October. Local leaders are excited about the purchase. Amphurst's president and CEO, Kevin Morris, says they're happy to keep investing in Birmingham after more than 45 years there. The former owner and REV Birmingham's head both praised it as a sign of downtown growth in the switch district. Amphurst plans to turn the space into a modern extension of their corporate office.
