Francisco Alvarez shown in Metz spring training Friday with two hits, including a double,

and he gunned down a runner trying to steal second base.

Craig Kimberl bounced back strong after a rough first outing.

He walked the lead off-hitter, but then retired the next three batters, striking out two of

them.

Luis Robert Jr. smashed a home run during a minor league game on the backfields in Port

St. Lucie.

Metz manager Carlos Mendoza, praised Robert for crushing pitches lately.

After lower body injuries with the White Sox, Robert will play centerfield and minor league

games every other day until Wednesday's off day to ramp up.

For the regular season, on Saturday, Kodai Senga takes the mound as the Metz head to

Jupiter, Florida, to face the Cardinals at 1.05 pm.
