Alberto's Tribute Painted Over, Council Denies Involvement

0:00On April 16th, a memorial mural for 19-year-old graffiti artists Alberto Fresnetta got painted over in West Hamstead, even with a sign asking. Folks to respect it. Alberto died back in 2018 while tagging walls near railway tracks in Lovebro Junction alongside two friends. The spot on Lamington Road near a sports pitch turned into a tribute that his parents would visit. That pitch has long been a safe haven for young spray artists to create without too much hassle. Alberto's tag, Trip, still pops up on walls all over London. His dad, Carlos, never fully backed the risky side of graffiti, but got why his son needed that outlet for expression. Locals are pretty torn up about the change, especially as the anniversary of the death's approaches. Attendance rep pointed out how the mural stood untouched for years, and weirdly it was the only piece on those walls to get covered. Now it's mice, and... Cheese, instead. The council insists they didn't order the new artwork, leaving questions about who did it and why.
