Alabama's Warm March: Severe Storms & Cooling Trend

Alabama is seeing another warm March day today, with highs reaching 80-85 degrees across most of the state this afternoon. That's right near record levels for early March. Expect partly sunny skies and a few spotty showers popping up later, with a 25-35% chance of rain in any one spot. Tomorrow starts to dry in the morning, but rain and thunderstorms will push into the northwest part of the state by afternoon ahead of a front. The Storm Prediction Center has a marginal risk, level 1 out of 5, for severe storms across the northern two-thirds of Alabama. While the air will feel unstable, winds aloft aren't too strong, keeping the overall severe threat low. Still, northern areas could see gusty winds from a few storms in the afternoon and evening, those storms should weaken as they move south overnight.
