Alabama House Passes Second Amendment Tax Holiday

The measure would exempt state sales tax on firearms, ammunition, and related accessories during the last weekend in August each year. Sponsored by state representative Chris Cells from Greenville, the bill now has 57 co-sponsors and strong backing from the National Rifle, Association, which rallied members to contact legislators in support. Meanwhile, Bama Carrey, Alabama's no-compromised gun rights group, is urging members to fight the proposal. They view it as a temporary gimmick that lets local governments decide whether to join in. The group wants the Senate to amend the bill for a full, permanent repeal of state and local sales taxes on guns, ammo, suppressors, magazines, and other firearms.
