Alabama Flags Lowered for Fallen Airmen

Alabama Governor Kay Ivey has ordered flags across the state lower to honor Airmen killed in a military plane crash. A KC-135 straddle tanker refueling aircraft went down in Western Iraq on March 12, claiming the lives of six service members. Three of those Airmen were from the 99th Air Refueling Squadron at the 117th Air Refueling Wing, based at Sumter Smith, joint national guard base in Birmingham. Among them was Major John Alex Klinner, a 33-year-old from Trussville who was a husband and father of three. Captain Arianna Savino from Washington State and technical sergeant Ashley Pruitt from Kentucky also perished while supporting Operation Epic Fury. The governor's office says this gesture recognizes their ultimate sacrifice in defending America. It's a way to pay tribute to these brave personnel from Alabama.
