0:00From Birmingham, this is your March 2nd update. Good morning folks. Alabama is waking up to mostly cloudy skies in the northern half, with just a few light sprinkles, while the south stays clear. Expect a dry day statewide today, with afternoon highs climbing into the 75-80 degree range. This says the stage for the warmest stretch of the year so far, across the deep south. Starting wind stay through the weekend, highs will hit the 80s everywhere in Alabama, and a few spots in the southern counties could nudge toward 90 degrees. That cozy pattern means plenty of sunshine and very little rain this week. An upper-level high-pressure system along the South Atlantic coast is steering storms away to the north and west, so showers will be rare. The weekend looks much the same, staying warm and mostly dry with 80s for highs and only isolated afternoon showers possible. It's perfect weather for getting outside. Starting ahead, global models show that ridge breaking down next week, bringing more action with several rounds of rain and storms.
