Alabama Basketball Star Faces Serious Charges

The 21-year-old was arrested Monday on 1st degree possession, a class C felony that carries up to 10 years in prison and a 15,000 dollar fine, plus failure to affix a tax dam. During the search by the West Alabama Narcotics Task Force, officers discovered the marijuana scattered in several spots, along with cash, packaging, materials, a rolling tray, and per methazine, a prescription sedative he didn't have a script for. That amount puts him just under Alabama's threshold for a trafficking charge. The University of Alabama quickly removed Holloway from campus and suspended him pending a student conduct investigation. Coach Nate Oates expressed disappointment but stressed the team's focus on getting Holloway help while moving forward without him. Holloway bonded out of jail early Monday morning for $5,000 and invoked his rights during the search.
