Alabama Baseball Drops Midweek Game, Prepares for Florida

0:00Here's more Birmingham news for March 18th. Alabama's baseball team dropped a midweek game to South Alabama six to three on Tuesday night. The Crimson Tides struggled on the mound all evening, allowing too many base runners and paying for it late. They jumped out to a two-nothing lead early, with runs in the second and third innings. South Alabama chipped away with one in the fifth, but Alabama stretched it back to two on a wild pitch in the seventh. The Jaguars exploded for four runs in their half of the seventh to grab the lead for good. Alabama's pitchers had dodged trouble for most of the game, but their luck finally ran out against the patient offense. Bryce Fowler and Justin LeBron paced the tide with two hits each, going two for four at the plate. Jason Torres and Brennan Holt drove in the team's only runs, while starter Bobby Alcott kept his scoreless over two innings. Now sitting at 15 and seven overall and zero in three in the SEC, Alabama looks ahead to a big weekend series hosting number 18, Florida.
